  1. Cena/Edge/Orton --> Cena/Michaels/Taker Taker's streak on the line. Shawn, at his "most over ever", headlining again. John And that would leave Smackdown...................?
  2. If it was Hogan, that would be a good choice. The storyline of the aging ex-champ making one last shot at the gold on the anniversary of his greatest moment is an interesting one. Somewhat Rocky Balboa-esque. (Yeah, I know there's supposed to be some big deal about trying to recreate Hogan/Andre by having Hulk wrestle some big hoss, but you know what? That match sucked, and while it certainly was a huge deal at the time, most of the myth surrounding the match has come from Vince's own obsession with it being the match that helped set his fake attendance record, and I definitely don't need to see a 53-year-old Hogan try to recreate it with a near-crippled Big Show or Mr. One Move Great Khali.) That said, I really don't think Hogan has any interest in losing a match ever again, but if enough money is thrown at him, he might do it.
  3. I remember on an old WOL Dave said that Vince once punched out Albano, I think in the '70s.
  4. Downloads, please. PM'd you. -- Loss, 01/18
  5. Meltzer acted just as bad. You could hear him roll his eyes. The caller was obviously trolling. Did you expect Dave to say "ANSWER THE QUESTION AJ!"?
  6. That doesn't really prove anything. TBS has aired Seinfeld and Friends, two shows filled with sexual jokes, for years now. But those shows aren't aimed at kids, and the Turner Standards and Practices people evidently felt that wrestling was. Is it that hard to believe that Bischoff's superiors would give him shit over making a Monica Lewinsky joke on Nitro or that they would insist on WCW shows being "family-appropriate"? Besides which, we're assuming that a show that airs late at night on Cartoon Network in 2006 is being held to the same standards as a show airing on TBS and TNT in prime time in 1998. The circumstances are a bit different. Although Bisch using that excuse is still as lame as Russo complaining about not being allowed to have Piper call Rhonda Singh fat.
  7. I've found that when people bitch about Meltzer they often cite some example of him saying that the three-way World Title match at Wrestlemania XX was going to be a ladder match, but I don't know exactly what he said.
  8. It's not real, wildpegasus. So, I need to know more about this Green Lantern fan. Has he ever given an explanation for his match-timing? What other wackiness is he involved in (other than the whole booing a dude whose girlfriend died thing that's getting so much discussion on the DVDVR board)? Tell me everything you know.
  9. Oh yeah, I forgot that LAX got stripped of the titles for being assholes.
  10. Angle beats Joe clean and refuses a rematch even though he's the face! Abyss beats Sting by DQ and wins the NWA title! FUCK YEAH TNA!
  11. At least, unlike Russo, McMahon never got the idea of paying OJ to take a lie detector test on PPV.
  12. Could HTQ or someone with access to the Observer please summarize Dave's article on Bischoff and WCW that is in the latest issue. My subscription just ran out at quite an inopportune time.
  13. Please go into more detail on Piper vs OJ.
  14. Here's a list of some Klassic Keller (I tested some of these links and they worked, but I can't vouch for all of them): http://web.archive.org/web/20010708001112/...cgi?kellerstake P.S. I checked out the Observer website from 2000 and was very impressed with the site's main graphic: However, it's comforting to know that Dave's website looks exactly the same now as it did 4 and a half years ago: http://web.archive.org/web/20020603233443/...estling.com/wo/
  15. Remember when Keller complained about Austin endorsing the XFL on their first telecast, saying that he should have been shown in the first couple of weeks watching the games and looking skeptical before begrudgingly giving his support? I remember GH & Joe from Theshooters making "skeptical Austin" jokes for months after that.
  16. Oh, and about that Taker story: I haven't seen Hogan Knows Best this season, but last week on Figure Four Daily, Alvarez said that on the show Hogan referred to something as reminding him of "when I had to wear a neckbrace after the Undertaker spiked me in Detroit in '74". Yes, apparently that match took place 32 years ago in Hoganland.
  17. Hogan claimed in his book (or at least the audiobook version of it, so I would assume it's in there) that he didn't know wrestling was fake until he was in training, at which time he would have been, like, 24.
  18. I think Hogan was filming Santa with Muscles. Steph saw Nidia in a bikini contest and thought she was fat, so she got depushed.
  19. Someone once posted a Playboy video of Candice in the LSD folder at TSM. The video was accompanied by a fine narration by Ms. Michelle, including such insightful comments as "I like the sun because it's warm and it's hot and it's not cold like when you're in the water." I swear she actually said that.
  20. It was in WCW in '93. They were known as Col. Parker's Posse. I remember reading about it in an old Mark Madden column from the Torch. In the Death of WCW, they say it was a Bill Watts idea, but it wasn't. He was gone by the time they came in. According to the Madden column I read, Sid Vicious was the one who came up with the idea. I'm sure it never made it to TV.
  21. I don't know why Angle would want to do a shoot fight with Puder. I mean, he would lose. Puder almost made him tap once, plus there's the simple fact that Puder is an MMA fighter and Angle isn't. He hasn't been involved in serious athletic competition in a decade and his body is in horrible shape. For someone as concerned with his legacy as Kurt it would be a bad idea.
  22. In addition to this being horribly sleazy, they are really running the risk of the fans turning on Rey. The things Chavo is saying are true and he'll seem even more justified with Eddie's widow on his side.
  23. They did, but I can't remember who was involved. It was during the second Russo run in WCW and I believe was under the "Capture The Flag" rules or something similar. It was Douglas and Torrie against Kidman and Madusa, and it was under the normal rules. (Russo would never pass up the opportunity to have his wrestlers do big, career-threatening bumps).
  24. That is insane. Who is he going to draw with to justify that kind of money? The fact that he was planning on cutting back his schedule earlier this year shows that he's probably hurting pretty bad. Will he be able to work a full schedule for another five years? This is a horrible investment.
