  1. YouTube user Master of Muppets has added a match from last night's house show in St. Louis to his YouTube channel. This appears to be the first Daniel Bryan vs The Miz singles match to make tape since Bryan's comeback, even though they've been slowly gearing up the rivalry at arena events for months. Pretty good camerawork considering that it was shot via smartphone in the audience. You can watch it below. Let us know what you think! UPDATE Reader Wahoo's Leg pointed out that this also hit YouTube a few months ago. The Miz vs Daniel Bryan from Newcastle, England, on May 17.
  2. Booker T's Reality of Wrestling has added their latest episode to the YouTube channel. Watch it below, and feel free to let us know what you think in the comments.

There's also a specific regular feature I have in mind that I don't want to say publicly just yet. The ideal writer has a vast and extensive knowledge of wrestling and its history, and also doesn't mind getting dirty hands sometimes. Please message me if that sounds like you.
  4. I'd like to get a wrestling book reviewer who could at a minimum produce two reviews a month. PM me if you're interested.
  5. Valentine has had some drug issues, which he touched on. The movie The Wrestler was very loosely based on Greg Valentine.
  6. At the beginning, all I wanted was for Ox Baker to stop working the gimmick. By the time it was over, I was glad he was.
  7. I should also mention how much I liked Tito Santana. And Valentine, for whatever issues he's had, is a good storyteller and a likable guy.
  8. The Charlotte, North Carolina-based Premiere Wrestling Xperience has uploaded PURE 3 to their YouTube channel, which took place on June 23. The card appears to be a strong one for fans of the current Southern indy scene: Jake Manning vs Mykrin Ballard Joey Lynch vs Patrick Scott Big Country vs Elijah Proctor Ugly Ducklings (Lance Lude & Rob Killjoy) vs Mason Myles & Mr. Sleaze Ian Maxwell vs Andre Guhn vs Cam Carter John Skyler vs Drew Adler Slim J vs Darius Lockhart Check out the full card below and let us know what you think in the comments.
  9. Major League Wrestling has posted the latest episode of Fusion to their YouTube channel. This show taped on July 12 in Orlando, FL, and looks on paper to be a card with solid potential. The matches: Kahuna Khan vs Kiki Roberts Anything Goes Grudge Match: Tom Lawlor vs Jimmy Havoc MLW World Title: Low Ki (c) vs Shane Strickland You can watch the show below. Let us know what you think in the comments!
  10. They also seem to call him a liar every single time he mentions having talked to someone like Vince McMahon. I can see being skeptical if you haven't paid attention, but he's in public conversations with the NJPW guys, Chris Jericho, Steve Austin, Jim Ross, Jim Cornette, HHH, etc. in 2018. Would this really be the case if he just made stuff up for the last 35 years?

    New polls

I've been brainstorming for weeks on a new angle for reviews and I think I've come up with something, but it involves gathering a lot of info from readers in advance. I've created a few surveys and I'd love it if you could all respond. After I gather info for a week or so, I'll start doing a feature at least once a day on a different show, using consensus opinions as a launching pad. CLASSIC POLLS Starrcade '83 Starrcade '84 Wrestlemania I Great American Bash '85 The Wrestling Classic Starrcade '85 NEW SHOW POLLS NJPW G-1 Climax - Day 6 NJPW G-1 Climax - Day 7 CMLL Super Viernes 07-20-18 Impact Wrestling Slammiversary XVI More added each day. 13. He's set up an echo chamber where everyone (not literally, but you know what I mean) likes what he likes. And if you're someone who doesn't like what "everyone" likes, then you're someone out of touch with current wrestling. I agree that it's detrimental to pro wrestling, mainly because no one person should have that much influence no matter who they are. Him having that much influence is better than it would be with many (maybe most) having it. But it's still changed wrestling in many ways. Some good, but some bad too.
  14. To be clear, I'm not saying "WWE fans are impossible to please" and I'm definitely not saying Dave's ratings aren't subjective. I'm just saying that a show where the individual parts broken up like that don't add up to a consensus thumbs up is atypical. I'm trying to get at why -- not make value judgments -- because I find it interesting.
  15. CWF Mid-Atlantic has posted two new episodes of Worldwide to their YouTube channel. The match lists looks like this. Episode 155 Kernodle Cup Semi-Finals: Trevor Lee & Chet Sterling vs The Carnies (Nick Iggy & Kerry Awful) Kernodle Cup Semi-Finals: Redemption (Michael McAllister & Nick Richards) vs The Closers (Sloan Caprice & Rick Roland) RGL Title Match: Kool Jay (c) vs Mace Li vs Jeff Castro vs John Castro Roy Wilkins vs Dirty Daddy Episode 156 Kernodle Cup Finals: Trevor Lee & Chet Sterling vs The Closers Mike Mars vs Aaron Biggs The Gym Nasty Boys (White Mike & Timmy Lou Retton) & The Cross Brothers (Aden Cross & Christian Cross) vs Corruption (Cain Justice & Ethan A. Sharpe) & High Profile (Shea Shea McGrady & Will Demented) Anything the rest of us should go out of our way to check out? Let us know what you think of both episodes in the comments.
  16. Beau James has recently launched the Southern States Wrestling network on Pivotshare, which should be a nice addition of some classic pro wrestling many of us haven't seen. One of the most recent additions that is likely well worth checking out is a Best of Sherri Martel in SSW video, which includes footage of her both wrestling and managing and includes her induction in the East Tennessee Hall of Fame. Sherri is most remembered for her run as a WWF manager from 1989-1993, first paired with Randy Savage and then with Ted DiBiase. When Shawn Michaels became a singles heel, he was quickly paired with Sherri, perhaps as a signal to fans that Shawn was someone worth watching, as she only managed top heels in the company. Sherri would go on to manage Ric Flair in WCW after Hulk Hogan jumped ship and she later managed Harlem Heat as well. Despite mostly being remembered for her work as a manager, Sherri was also a more-than-capable worker in her own right, with a frequent line from Wrestling Observer Newsletter correspondents in the late 80s and early 90s being that on WWF house shows, even just in the corner, she was often the best worker on the show. In a bit of trivia, Sherri was also the first wrestler ever to be managed by Jim Cornette. Before coming to the WWF, Sherri also worked as a ringside second for Doug Somers and Buddy Rose in the AWA during their legendary feud with Michaels and Marty Jannetty in 1986-1987. During the USWA vs WWF feud of 1993, she returned to Memphis to briefly reunite with Savage for his feud with Jerry Lawler. Other recent additions to the SSW channel include: Death and Destruction (Roger Anderson and Frank Parker), a great and overlooked Southern tag team, against Ricky Morton and Dan Cooley Two episodes of SSW TV from the summer of 2003 SSW's 1999 International Wrestling Cup Have you watched anything on the SSW channel yet? If so, we'd love to hear from you in the comments.
  17. Real Pro Wrestling has published episode 14 of RAMPAGE to their YouTube channel. This week's show: Alexander Zane vs Omar Amir Dax vs Michael Kai NO DQ: Joey Ozbourne vs Sideshow You can watch below. Is there anything we should all check out? Let us know in the comments.
  18. DEFY Wrestling has posted a new match to their YouTube channel between Shane Strickland and Austin Aries. The match took place on April 13 in Seattle, WA, at DEFY Vibes. This was a title vs title match with Strickland putting up the DEFY 8xGP title against Aries' Impact World Title. Watch it here and share your thoughts in the comments! If there's enough buzz around it, I'll take a look.
  19. To be clear, I'm not saying anyone should have liked it or not liked it. I'm just trying to understand it. What was Extreme Rules missing to put it over the top?
  20. Reigns lost and there was a **** title match with a guy put in that spot based on fan demand, yeah. Facing a champion put in that spot based on fan demand, for that matter.
  21. That sounds reasonable. What does everyone think of that? Current month has newer matches first. Older months go in ascending order. I'm fine either way. Whatever people would find most useful.
  22. Not about Omega, but I know he pretty definitively said Okada had the greatest world title run ever. Used to be a reporter, and now he's Vince McMahon, trying to write history in real time instead of letting people draw their own conclusions.
  23. As I mentioned on Twitter, this is a show where Dave rated four of the matches at ***+. Three additional matches had a highlight reel Mick Foley-level bump, a title change, and the return of their biggest star in a hot angle. Yet the show was 73% thumbs down in the Observer. What is it that people want? I know what they don't want. What do they want? Do people choose to like or dislike a show mostly based on how much they like the finishes? If so, all this talk about how much "wrestling has changed" is overwrought because it hasn't.
  24. As I've said many times, that thread was started to entertain a specific question, not be a catch-all thread for TNA (now Impact) talk. It became that because of aversion to starting new topics, which no one should have. I've asked people to start something new but no one has. Glad someone did, but I'm assuming that's the goal here.
  25. I thought Bret was the best part honestly. Very open and I think I learned some things for him. Explaining how his primary thought about the women on the road now is gratitude because they helped him keep going and how he considers them all friends, but saying it in kind of a somber way, was something else. To me, Bret Hart, JJ Dillon, and Ted DiBiase come across as the most sound-minded retired wrestlers out there, who could teach anyone who wanted to learn quite a bit.
