1. People still aren't convinced that Bray Wyatt deserves his spot. There has been a lot of skepticism here even. I'm not sure why at this point, considering the last two pay-per-views. People also underestimate Cena. 2. It's possible HHH will kill off Bryan then go on to win the main event. Anything is possible with HHH. I just don't think it's likely. I don't really think there is a wrong way to work the match. Even HHH dominating most of it gives Bryan bigger odds to overcome in the triple threat. The angle on RAW tells me HHH is approaching this differently. He seems to be having lots of fun trolling fans and flying around for Bryan. My theory that isn't based on any evidence is that HHH is determined to put over Bryan convincingly without bullshit as some type of fuck you to Punk for doubting his professionalism. I think anger at Punk is what is fueling all of this.

I think it will be consecutive precisely so the deck is stacked against Bryan as much as possible.

Jericho is on the grumpy side it would seem: http://bostonherald.com/entertainment/television/television_news/2014/04/wrestlemania_not_right_fit_for_former_wwe_star

Is it as bad as Punk's "What the fuck am I DOING here!?" attitude at 28? Punk seemed annoyed. Bryan seems more embarrassed because he doesn't think he's at the same level as the other people on the stage as a star.

My predictions: Undertaker wins. The match is good but below expectations. Bray Wyatt beats Cena relatively clean, which is put over as a huge shock. Bray is positioned as a title challenger. Match is way better than anyone would have expected. Rusev wins the 30-man battle royal in an attempt to debut him hot. Bryan vs HHH goes 30+ minutes and is a really good match with tons of surprise run-ins from familiar faces and some great nearfalls. Bryan wins but suffers some type of injury along the way that makes the odds huge going into the main event, which happens immediately after this match. Bryan wins the triple threat after pinning Orton. Some of the aforementioned surprise run-ins may carry over here. Stephanie will get her comeuppance in some type of spot in either this or the previous match. Orton and Batista will briefly work together to take out Bryan so they can go one-on-one in an attempt to rally the crowd behind Bryan even more. Orton eats the fall, likely tapping to the Yes Lock. They have a crazy post-match celebration with (pre-cleared) fans and a bunch of wrestlers coming into the ring to celebrate and hoist Bryan on their shoulders. Batista looks on from a distance and tells Bryan he's coming after him. Stephanie is in tears screaming or something. The end result will be that Bryan had to compete for over 50 minutes and Michael Cole will make a big deal of the match time. Maybe they go even longer so Bryan can break the Bret/Shawn record and they can say he gave the longest in-ring performance in Wrestlemania history.

I realize Hulk is Hulk, but he looks so out of place since returning because he's too over the top and too married to his 80s gimmick. It seems like he could take it down a notch or two, still be Hogan and not seem like such an artificial self parody. Part of that is the insincere and constant network shilling, of course.

That show-closing angle combined with Daniel Bryan's post-game promo last night felt like 1983 Mid Atlantic, when babyface Ric Flair would return after a heel sneak attack, clean house and then cut a really hot promo right then and there. I really feel like last night was the best he's looked to date in terms of how a top babyface should act and carry himself.
-
Yes, Batista was hilarious. Everything else has been really odd. Daniel Bryan doesn't really seem comfortable with this level of stardom, which is endearing in a way.
-
Agreed. They have course corrected and turned their own mistakes into a huge positive in a way that this is the best built match in a long, long, long time. While I love the network, I'd really love to see what type of numbers this Mania would do under the old format just out of curiosity.
-
With the talk of WWE contacting anyone and everyone to do cameos at Mania, I would assume everyone in that HHH video (except Angle) is at least an outside possibility.
-
And the problem in 2004 was with the logical plothole of a contract being drafted in Benoit's name but signed by Shawn being enough reason to create a three-way because there was no other legal way out.
-
I think his problem would be less with the treatment of Daniel Bryan and more with Stephanie acting like she owns the place. He gets to do that. She doesn't.

That's not really where I was going. What I meant was if the new recruiting goal is to present WWE as a world class organization, the athletes they are recruiting are going to be used to a certain level of pay and union benefits. Could the absence of those things hurt WWE's ability to recruit athletes because the athletes won't go for it? That's more what I meant.
-
If this happens, considering WWE's new recruiting tactics, how would this impact the pay scale in developmental? Can someone who has followed this story closer than me put it in perspective? The whole reason for opening the performance center was an attempt to lure athletes of a higher calibre. They don't pay them much in developmental, so I wonder if this would have an impact. Also, would a NCAA player's union put additional pressure on WWE to unionize? I am just trying to wrap my head around this story and any potential impact on WWE, if there would be any at all. I see talk that the unionizing issue may eventually make its way to the Supreme Court.

I fully expect the night after Mania to be Stephanie about to do something really horrible to Daniel Bryan when "No Chance In Hell" starts playing.
-
Initially, they added so many people because they had plans of giving the NWO their own television show and needed additional guys to fill out the group so they had more potential matches. But yes, I agree with you. That was an overreach at best and they should have run an angle after Souled Out bombed to kick out all of the dead weight.

Recent research indicates that the anthropomorphization (my new favorite word) of animals in children's books is harmful. This thread is probably just an excuse for me to use my new favorite word, but perhaps we can compile a list of all wrestlers with animal gimmicks. More info on the study: http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat/2014/03/28/animals_in_kids_books_should_have_human_characteristics_a_defense_of_anthropomorphization.html

The WM tickets are usually sold before any matches are announced, so it would be more based on how hot WWE is at the time of the on-sale.
-
Of course no one thinks that. Wrestling is about manipulation. It's WWE's job to figure out how crowds respond and try to build shows around that. There's nothing wrong with their philosophy. It's just not the only one in existence.

The more I think about this match, the more it bothers me that Arn did these promos promising hospitalization and injuries galore, then just worked a normal match. Such a disconnect.

Southern tag is a colloquialism that simply refers to the standard American tag where a babyface is in peril to build to a hot tag.

The WWF was more popular in 1985-1986 than it was in 1991.

Amazingly, I think Daniel Bryan is on the verge of potentially making more money for a single night's work than he did in every year he spent working the indies combined. Pretty crazy!
