It's obviously a possibility, but it's not the big prize the family set their hearts on. They wanted national influence, not local influence. Running for Governor and winning would preclude running for the Senate again in 2016. Meanwhile, Linda McMahon has made more friends in her party by seeking an emergency court order to certify how many ballots the New Haven Republican Registrar of Voters Rae Tramontano has ordered:

Meltzer said he looked "great" recently and his brother Brian and Scott didn't seem to be concerned about his health of late, so this seems quite unexpected.

Wasn't the key to Gorgeous George drawing that though he played an effeminate fop, appearances were deceiving and he could hold his own in the squared circle?
-
Serious question: has there ever been a complete chickenshit heel that has drawn big money? I suppose you could always point to Ric Flair, but the more he was bitched out, the less he drew.

From listening to Dave and reading all that he's wrote on the subject, it's clear that he does speak to at least some of the Connecticut journalists. I think he's more connected than you would think. At the very least, she's going to spend big on election day to mobilise all her voters and attempt to change minds at the last second. It probably won't be enough, but the race is close enough that an upset could still happen. I would agree that her campaigns have been largely mediocre once they got to the debate stages, but both races were a lot closer than the Democrats would have assumed and wanted given her ability to spend big to find the dirt on her opponents and publicise it nonstop on the airwaves. By the way, the latest Rasmussen poll has Murphy up by 6 points, 51 to 45, consistent with most recent polls.

It was wasted. Punk's not going to come out of this a bigger star or a better draw. I think there's some limited value in him holding the title for longer, but it's not a difference maker. Creating a new star would be. We'll see where Ryback is in six months time, but I'd rather risk pushing a guy too soon than missing the right moment that may never come again.

Dave Meltzer's been saying that Linda may have learnt her lesson from blowing all her best dirt on Blumenthal during primary season in 2010 that she may have left a bombshell on Murphy for the final week. We shall see after Hurricane Sandy has passed through, as I'm guessing that neither side will release anything major until that humanitarian scare is over.

Sometimes you just need to take a punt on a guy when the time is right and he's hot, because more often than not, especially in this day and age, you can't recapture that lightning in a bottle again. Really, rather than wasting his undefeated streak gimmick, they should have just plugged someone else in the gap (Orton, Bryan, Rey, etc) or done a multi man match and taken the hit on pay-per-view for one month.

$95.9 million and counting!

It's really a non-story, as the money was more for his WWE appearances than supporting his political beliefs.

Ricky Morton worked a couple of ECW dates in early 1997. Don't know why he didn't hang around.

Moreover, she's dredged up whatever dirt she could find on all the opponents she's faced.

"He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad
kjh replied to Bix's topic in Megathread archive
Usually there's a grain of truth to the hyperbole SKeith twists it into, hence the title of this thread. -
The New York Times, The Day, CT Post and Norwich Bulletin are all endorsing Chris Murphy. We know which way the wind is blowing at the Journal Inquirer. No endorsements for McMahon yet. Guess that comment blaming the local media for demagoguery went down well! Edit: Actually, FLIK, a lot of the Journal Inquirer's coverage has been pretty insightful when they stick to politics.

The Journal Inquirer putting the boots to Linda McMahon / WWE: WWE Scenes Published at JI Internet Site WWE shows under McMahon's tenure 'disastrous' for culture, filmmaker says Wow, at the captions to some of the pictures in the latter article, for example: "Two men wrestlers simulate sex in the ring".

The Democrats went after pro wrestling hard too in 2010. I think it has more to do with Linda doing a great job of casting her relatively unknown opponent (compared to Dick Blumenthal who was the State's Attorney General for two decades) as a lazy slacker in Congress who used his political office to get a sweetheart loan from a bank he helped bail out when he was in financial difficulty, than any perceived cultural elitism from their WWE bashing.
-
He probably believes that he's the best wrestler in the world and hence the odds of that happening are zero.
-
Given that he admitted to head-kicking Gallagher on purpose, what the odds that he planned to steal the title all along and then hold up the promoter for more money for a rematch?
-
Here's excerpts from a PowerSlam interview he did on August 31st, about working for Futureshock and other British companies, which proves why it was such a extra, extra scummy thing to do, like rovert says: I guess he's not going to move to the UK when his ROH contract expires after all then.

That's not really borne out by the latest polls. McMahon's ahead 38-31% with working class men, but has a similar lead in college educated men 48-40%. Murphy is slightly ahead with working class women 42-40%, but the big difference is college educated women where Murphy is ahead 55-28%. Really if there's a pro wrestling backlash it's with women who find the product offensive and sleazy.

The tax issues got a lot of play in the Connecticut media yesterday. Meanwhile, Linda's loaned over $27 million of her own money by the end of September on this election cycle alone. Given that the last month will have the most spending, I guess total cost of her two runs will be between $90-100 million. So much for the second campaign being cheaper than the first.

Latest possible scandal for Linda McMahon - Was WWE caught dodging millions of dollars in taxes by the state of Connecticut recently?
-
Latest poll, Murphy 46%, McMahon 44%, Undecided 8%.

The last debate is tomorrow afternoon, though not sure whether it will be stream online.
