  1. Debate 3: shame on you Linda McMahon supporters!
  2. Leading wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer on why former WWE CEO Linda McMahon is running for senate on his radio show earlier today:
  3. Hogan said he got a guaranteed contract from Vince in 1984 to jump from the AWA, which given the amount he was making between the Midwest and Japan is plausible.
  4. Edge was so skilled at portraying enigmatic in his WWF debut, I was completely confused about whether he was even a wrestler!
  5. So does great wrestling acting = being able to deliver crappy material in completely over the top fashion without cracking up?
  6. McMahon camp tries to change narrative about Thursday night’s debate
  7. You should have talked to Wade Keller and Bruce Mitchell first about what Jim Cornette thinks about constructive criticism.
  8. Expanded thoughts here: Linda McMahon booed and snickered by pro-Murphy crowd in her second debate
  9. Second debate tonight in front of audience. Poorer performance tonight, the audience didn't help. Really brutal moment for Linda when she responded to Murphy's allegations about not paying her bankruptcy debts for 36 years, with "Well, I did eventually pay...", which the audience laughed at and booed. Almost as bad was when she was asked a question about how she would change the negative campaigning in the race to become more positive, she totally ignored the question and banged on about Murphy's special interest loans and poor attendance at Congress, and Murphy called her out for answering a question criticising negative campaigning with yet more negative campaigning, which brought laughter too.
  10. I have a column about this at Cageside Seats - Brian Gerwirtz: Absence does not make Vince McMahon's heart grow fonder. But the toxic and dysfunctional nature of the creative team has been known for years, every past WWE writer who ever had a beef with her have let that be known in numerous podcasts, that's nothing new. I'm sure the idea behind the "home vs. away" teams was to make the creative process more efficient, but given the highly political nature of WWE, it was inevitable that the people working from the comfort of their abodes would lose out to the team who was at every taping, due to the inevitable backstabbing by the writers who had more of Vince/Stephanie/Triple H's ears in person, branding the "home" team as arrogant slackers. Really, given the fact that Stephanie is working less now due to raising her kids, I'm not sure you can place the blame wholly on her shoulders, though she did set up the environment where such infighting could flourish.
  11. Linda McMahon Creditor's Great-Granddaughter Upset Over Repayment Claims This is a hoot.
  12. Latest Rasmussen polling suggests Murphy is starting to open up a lead on McMahon:
  13. No, they renewed their deal for four years on November 16th, 2010. So they've got two years left on their contract.
  14. The Torch says Johnston's been in the key decision making position for some time. If I was ROH, then I'd want it be known that was the old booker's fault, wouldn't you?
  15. Wow, Vince McMahon having a competitive match with his top heel at age 67. They must be desperate!
  16. Yeah, the one and only! I do hope Cornette never gets his phone number. I loved this quote from Corny: Live events schedule for the final three months of the year: Two iPPVs + 1 house show + 1 TV taping = 4 shows. Last year, in the same time frame they did 1 iPPV + 5 house shows + 2 TV tapings = 8 shows. They ran more shows in 2009 and 2010, in the same period too. Does this look like an expanding business, remembering that they've killed iPPV dead with their series of screw ups? Anyway, here's my take on the situation: http://www.cagesideseats.com/2012/10/8/347...oking-reshuffle I should thank Brian, didn't realise the newswire on the Fighting Spirit Magazine incorporates Cageside Seats stories into the running feed, like the one above.
  17. Yeah. Delirious was the booker in the days after Pearce and before Sinclair Broadcasting took over. This doesn't really sound like much of a change, as Delirious was Cornette's deputy and was already doing a lot of the writing grunt work. Cornette will still maintain some influence. A shake up without much shaking going on.
  18. You can't shut the fuck up in a debate. Another problem was whenever Murphy was speaking and the camera was on split screen, she didn't have a good poker face. Often times she looked pig sick, mainly whenever Murphy brought up her WWE record.
  19. Linda McMahon and Chris Murphy clash in a feisty debate, both brand the other as dishonest Here's the key quotes from the debate: "Well, Linda McMahon should stop spreading this fiction that I have no plan to create jobs. I know she made her living making up stories in the wrestling ring, but it's not O.K. to make them up when you're running for the United States Senate." - Chris Murphy "Linda McMahon's economic plan is focused on giving herself a seven million dollar tax cut and just kind of hoping that eventually that money trickles down to people that need help.... Now, Linda does have a plan on her website, but as we've recently learned a good part of that is just lifted word for word, paragraph by paragraph from right-wing Republican sites in Washington. It's not a plan for Connecticut, it's a plan that essentially parrots a bunch of talking points that haven't worked for this country." - Chris Murphy "Congressman Murphy, shame on you. You have just accused me of plagiarizing my plan.... You know when you got into this race as a Democrat in the state of Connecticut, you thought this was going to be a coronation, but now you're in a serious race with a serious woman and you have resorted now to these kind of policies. But it's desperate to you, Congressman Murphy." - Linda McMahon "Well, I live in Connecticut and I absolutely support America's law for, you know, same-sex marriage. And, uh, I wouldn't pretend to try to impose my will or rights on others, I think everyone should have, you know, the freedom to make that choice." - Linda McMahon
  20. I think the poll said "It's there, not huge, but it exits".
  21. She got her good looks from her mother?
  22. To be fair, Jesse is more an MMA writer that happens to help out at Cageside.
  23. Now, the unions are getting involved in the Connecticut election: The AFL-CIO union attacks Linda McMahon's treatment of WWE wrestlers To be fair the Daily Kos article is a bit disingenuous, as from the transcript of her remarks from the Huffington Post said: Of course, she's a fan of privatising Medicare with the Paul Ryan voucher system, which would basically end Medicare as we know it in all but name, but this isn't an attack on seniors, but an attack on the next generation who would be expected to get by with a lot less government help. I agree though, this will play badly given her enormous wealth and gives Murphy a lot more ammunition to play with.
  24. Looks like Flair was already grooming wife number 5 before the divorce.
