If she's so worried about bankruptcy, then why is she proposing a plethora of tax cuts for the middle class and businesses.

Connecticut leans strongly Democrat, so even without the smut years it would be a long shot to win. First time around I think the key turning point was Linda not knowing the minimum wage in her home state. This time it might be all those unpaid debts from 1976.

I'm English and don't follow the NFL at all and even I have to shake my head at times. Like Bryan thinking that scab refs was a Paul Heyman reference to Dana saying that scabs love to stick it to UFC.

Russo has always been good at doing an exciting reset show where you hot shot a lot of angles and shake things up, even without McMahon's guidance. It usually was successful in getting interest in the product up for a week or two. But usually the majority of the crap he threw to the wall went nowhere or wasn't paid off in the end or was a bad long term idea even though it was shocking. Also, the constant onslaught of angles becomes draining after awhile.

"He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad

Found the quote you're talking about for you! -
Konnan didn't write the bio, but it was written after length discussions with him I imagine. It would be a bit like passing off a WWE book as an impartial piece of writing.
-
I think it would be this, Coffey: Rey Mysterio failed WWE drug test for amphetamines over 10 weeks ago
-
I'm sure in his second autobiography he brags about being a writer that doesn't read books.

I wouldn't be too confident of that given that business in Puerto Rico really dropped off in the early 90s, whereas Mexico and Japan were hotbeds at the same time.
-
I don't think anyone would have taken Doc seriously as an opponent for Goldberg after the Brawl For All knockout.
-
The latter, one of Dave's peeves last year was that people were saying the Punk angle would lead to another boom period when the business evidence suggested it wasn't. And Jon, Dave learned that lesson many years ago from reading Sherdog forums.

From what I've read about them, McManus and Pallo were stronger candidates than Daddy, as they were almost as well known as him in the culture at their peak, drew better ratings, had more longevity as headlining acts, were better workers, not tarred with the brush of killing the business, etc. Agreed about Rocco being a weak candidate. Really British wrestling was going to be done when the WWF/WCW offered their tapes with better production values to the local stations at cheaper rates than any British promotion could make them for, especially when American culture transplants so easily to the UK. Meltzer talks a lot about Jarrett holding out till the mid 90s in Memphis, but it's not like the British scene completely died as soon as the WWF first stepped foot on our shores. All Star Wrestling did OK until Kendo Nagasaki retired in 1993.

Partly the wrestling bubble to blame where the inner circle made fun of Ross behind his back and thought it was hilarious. Also, Jeff Jarrett and Vince Russo blamed Ross for backing up Steve Austin when he refused to feud with Jarrett.

Linda McMahon reeling from a series of campaign controversies The latest is that she forgot to pay her property tax bill over the weeks she's been criticising Murphy for late payment of mortgage payments and taxes. There's also links in the article to the latest attack ads by the Democrats.
-
That's true and that thread did include me. I think that shows the difference between a candidate he likes the work of and one he really doesn't. Meltzer's Daddy argument against him for the HOF basically started with "God no, he sucked, he was a joke". I think if he had been a good worker, Meltzer would probably have overlooked the other shortcomings.

It sounds like Grantland wanted a column on Overeem and Dave was the go to guy for it. Maybe wasn't looking for a full time MMA columnist.
-
I guess SBNation must have offered him a better deal. A positive with Grantland is that the site has done plenty of long form articles on pro wrestling, so writing there would allow him to cover both his areas of expertise. Of course, there's Cageside Seats, which is part of the SBNation umbrella, and if I had the best pro wrestling news journalist under contract, then I would want to exploit that to boost the popularity of the wrestling site too, but I don't expect that to happen. SBNation is undergoing a major overhaul at the moment, see here. That may have been a part of Dave's decision making.

The difference is HHH is heralded by Dave for his great instincts and timing as a worker, whereas Daddy was one of the worst workers to ever get over as a headlining act. I do think the problem with Daddy as a candidate is that a lot of people can't put his lack of working ability to one side and objectively assess the positives he brought to the table. He's the British Junkfood Dog / Anabolic Warrior of the ballot in Dave's eyes I think. John Lister wrote a very good four page article about Jackie Pallo in Fighting Spirit Magazine recently that would make a good foundation for the sort of more in depth piece you're looking for ragemaster.

McMahon: I'll make good on my debts Shouldn't she have done this 2 years ago, given how much she made of her bankruptcy story in her first campaign?
-
I think Dave would say Tanahashi was the better candidate for WOTY than Okada. Clearly, he's the top draw in New Japan and Dave gushes about how he carries himself as a star and his all round working ability.

LOL.

You mean, poor Jim.

I think the best thing for Matt would be to retire and become a trainer or an agent. Of course, he might have to wait a bit before either of the two big companies would trust him with such a job.

John, I think I personally have been numbed over the years by Vince McMahon's exploitation of death that I for one didn't get all too offended at how WWE handled things. Well, until Michael Cole said on Fox & Friends that "we me made the decision during the break that out of respect for Jerry we weren't going to do commentary anymore", which just makes it sound like Vince came up with the least he could do not to look like a heartless bastard, while not trying to draw too much attention to the situation. Coffey, not to mention the same way as the genuinely hushed tones that were used to talk about Owen's death were recreated in future injury angles.
