Someone like Sunny deserves to be in because she's a lot better remembered than her push or her stint would warrant. I don't think a lot of other women should go in ahead of her apart from Liz, Sable, Chyna, Lita, Trish and maybe Madusa, Luna Vachon and Woman. And if you look through that list you can easily see why she was picked ahead of them.

Yes, though Eddie Guerrero would have also been 38 when he was posthumously inducted.

The line about Cena giving Rock a pearl necklace was um weird. Maybe Rock's supposed to be a tranny now? Except there was the requisite beating himself line. Either way that Cena is one confused dude and is still obsessed with The Rock's sexual behaviour.

He's the Observer's Green Lantern Fan!

You know, given Bret's concussion and stroke related emotional problems, Twitter probably isn't the best place for him, despite his snarky remarks being amusing.

I think Armstrong is better remembered by WWE higher ups due to all his sons getting into the business, particularly "Road Dogg" Jesse James who became a big WWE star during the Attitude era. Don't know who would push Mr. Wrestling II to Vince for his Hall Of Fame.

Chael luv is already being kicked off again in anticipation of his return to the cage even prior to his date in court: UFC's Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping - Let Them Fight?

It's not that odd given that they usually have a local legend slot in each HOF class. The Sheik in Detroit, Briscos, Solie and Graham in Florida, Von Erichs in Texas. Arizona was never a major market, but Ted DiBiase grew up there. "Bullet" Bob is the obvious local Georgia legend to induct.

Graham's DVD tanking isn't that surprising given that they never pushed it hard on TV and it was one of the few WWE DVDs not published in the UK.

Meltzer said on the website it was cut because other segments overran. Speaking of Meltzer, it sure was weird him joking on Observer radio that he had a joke about Jerry Lawler which he couldn't tell, because people get sued for millions for this sort of stuff and how the Internet kills it.

Yeah, that may be why Cena overcompensates. A lot of the guys who were pushed mainly due to physique (like Warrior, Brock and Batista) seem to have that insecurity.
-
Wade Keller was thinking the same thing: I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that Cena was out of touch with the crowd, given that there were pops for some of his gay jokes. Not overwhelming pops, but it wasn't like the crowd turned on Cena or were completely apathetic to the segment.

I know it's a joke, but Dave thinking anyone in contemporary North America has a better idea of who Rick Martel is than what Strikeforce is shows exactly how clueless he is about MMA. Their last card just set a viewership record, yet Dave (or whoever is in his ear) is determined to write them off as not even the same sport. You know, I'm a wrestling geek and it took me awhile to figure out that joke.

Bruce Mitchell had an interesting theory about this in this week's Torch Newsletter:

Dave "I speak regularly with Dana White" Meltzer complaining about MMA rankings is always amusing, especially when his opening gambit is such a silly sentence:

Out of morbid curiosity, where can I hear this and how was his book? I'm thinking of buying along with Jericho's and Animal's if I have enough cash. You'll have to subscribe to the members only section of www.f4wonline.com to hear the interview. Bix and Dylan Waco didn't give the book good reviews in another thread.

Yes, because Bryan Gerwirtz's poor, put upon, fired for over three months, coffee boy would know that the plans have been set in stone for so long and never tampered with. Next thing you know he'll be telling us that The Undertaker legitimately has heat with Brock Lesnar which led to their "shoot" UFC confrontation last year, oh wait, he already did that in his recent Torch Talk.

What do we know about what went down in Florda in 83-85?
kjh replied to Matt D's topic in Pro Wrestling
I thought Dusty took over the book immediately after Starrcade '83. So who was in charge between Starrcade and the late summer of 1984? Was it still Dory Funk Jr.? -
Hunter's a big fan of Abby apparently, so it wouldn't be too shocking if he goes into the Hall Of Fame. Sunny going in this year would be a hoot. Who says Vince doesn't have a sense of humour? Maybe Bret could induct her instead of Shawn?

I went to Dragon Door's debut show a couple of day's after the 2005 NOAH Dome show. Crowd was noticeably much more feminine and metrosexual than any of the other shows we went to.

I think Dusty spent so much on talent to get a huge gate that the show wasn't as profitable as you would expect, which is why he felt screwed on his payoff. The talk about JCP barely drawing is a big exaggeration, two of JCP's biggest shows ever (Slaughter & Kernodle vs. Steamboat & Youngblood cage match, Starrcade '83) happened in the year immediately prior to Dusty getting the book. -
I guarantee no-one in WCW was thinking this at the time. Hogan only dropped the strap to him so soon because he spied an opportunity to con the TBS execs into believing he drew the 40,000 fans to the Georgia Dome for Nitro and he was still the hottest act in wrestling.

There is the irony that when Cena jokingly insinuates that certain members of Nexus are male escorts, strippers and lead alternative lifestyles he's being smarmy, obnoxious and even lame, but do it in the form of an aggressive rap against The Rock and it's cool. I think I'd be more offended by how creatively bankrupt this exposes WWE to be, than their babyfaces using gay jokes again which is par for the course. That the only response they could come up with is Cena cutting a promo like it's 2003 again. Like most nostalgia it'll work for a short while, but the novelty will wear off pretty quickly.
-
Except they'll probably work an even match, the "big babyface" will probably be booed out the building and no-one is paying for Mania to see Cena beat Miz.
