  1. It was a month earlier. This was just the first live Raw after Vince's hiatus.

    FloSlam

There are behind the scenes technical reasons for why they have been so slow to get the back catalog up. Not sure if it's my place to say exactly what past that it's not the fault of WWN or Flo.

    FloSlam

Well, that, and also the public story that WWE had no idea that FloSlam was coming lacks credibility. Even setting aside that it was an open secret within wrestling, the website itself had been announced months earlier when they started the editor search. Every Flo site has a subscription video streaming service that goes with it. So then, of course, the question is why WWE would circulate a story that that had no idea this was coming...
  4. The part that there's only minimal proof of is what Vince/the office did after the fact. I buy the family's claim that they were offered hush money. I buy that Vince joined him for the last police interview (the one that wasn't recorded). But it's absolutely possible that there was little to no direct pressure on law enforcement by police and they just felt they had to do a favor to a celebrity who was part of a business that was part of the local economy. The "Snuka pretended to be a feral jungle warrior who couldn't speak English" story is probably not true since Snuka had already been interviewed extensively. But based on an honest reading of the facts, the likelihood that Snuka didn't cause the fatal head injury is basically nil. He told everyone some variation of a story that held him responsible (either "horsing around" or during an argument, he shoved her and she hit her head) until she died. Then he started saying she slipped and fell when she went to urinate by the side of the road, which the autopsy proves false because there was no evidence on the body indicating that she fell outdoors. He's never said that anyone else was there. Also, even if some variation of the letter story is true, he still told police that he left Nancy mumbling, incoherent, and barely conscious in their motel room when it was obvious that she was in serious condition. He left her there for hours to tape TV, and she was on death's door when he got back. Before he left, all he did was dab her head with a washcloth. There's literally no feasible scenario where Snuka wasn't at least partially responsible for Argentino's death. Even if by some chance he didn't cause the injury, he absolutely left her in their motel room to die.
  5. I think it was Naylor who explained that the WWE music database of production tracks and other stuff they have the rights to is searchable by similar artists, with Bray Wyatt's song popping up when they searched for Pink Floyd. So it's more likely than not that Bate was using a production piece that someone is probably risking legal action over by selling it on how much it sounds like Sledgehammer.
  6. Good to see you're so well informed on the case, Parv. You can't been acquitted if you don't go to trial. The judge ruled that Snuka wasn't competent to stand trial. On the night that he took her to the hospital, Snuka admitted to numerous people that he caused the fatal head injury. Then, when she died, he went into self preservation mode and said she slipped and fell by the side of the road while trying to urinate. The autopsy directly controverted guys, finding zero evidence of a fall outdoors. Even if by some chance he didn't shove her, he still left her to die in their motel room barely conscious and incoherent, thinking putting a washcloth on her head would help. The police mysteriously dropped the case after two weeks. They lied to reporters about the facts is the case. The WWF offered to pay off the Argentino family. The family won a default judgement from Snuka in a wrongful death lawsuit, only for him to claim to be indigent while working as one of the highest paid foreign wrestlers in the country and getting paid in cash at the end of each tour. Should I keep going?
  7. The show you're thinking of is Video Power. For the Amazon referral we get the kickback if you use the link before you add stuff to your cart. If your phone has the app handle Amazon URLs then going to that URL to open the app should work too.

  9. To be honest I have no idea why I even do that.
  10. I don't think he's saying it was always going to build to a big reveal. Instead, Daniels just would be been a new character brought in for a big role. And if it was a Russo idea like Bruce said, then Russo bringing it back (albeit for a week) in WCW a year later when Vampiro was cosplaying as Undertaker makes perfect sense.
  11. Kris and David return with more exclusive audio as it’s time for Volume 3 of the national expansion era series. This time, we've got a short, packed time period to cover, including Bruno Sammartino's return to the WWF, rumors flying everywhere about whether or not World Class is in bed with the WWF, the launch of Pro Wrestling USA, TV partners being unhappy with the WWF, Riki Choshu and his Ishingundan stable jumping to AJPW, and much more. A great show, so we hope you enjoy it! Sign up here. Patrons can click here for the show. We also have a free preview of the episode centering around Bruno Sammartino's return to the WWF.
  12. Nope. In the Owen Hart wrongful death lawsuit, WWE, I guess because of how strong the family's case was and a lack of options, decided to base their defense on the idea that Bret was masterminding the lawsuit as revenge for Montreal (yes, it's as ridiculous as it sounds). This was addressed under oath in depositions, where Bret refuted the idea and, if the whole thing was a work, could have just admitted it and blown WWE's stupid idea to pieces. But he didn't. because it wasn't a work.
  13. How long before the taping would that have been? Foley/Thornton vs. Bulldogs was Mick's 2nd match. Or at least he says it was.
  14. I tried. It didn't.
  15. Well, that's definitely an interesting way to (mis)characterize what I said.
  16. Already spinning my wheels to knock'em dead with a story for a major site. Ahem.
  17. Disaster victims ineligible for FEMA grants. SBA handles the low interest loans.
  18. If the Amazon app is handling Amazon URLs for you, then putting it in the browser should open the app.
  19. Kris and David are back with more exclusive audio in the form of Volume 2 of the national expansion era series! More than anything else, this episode deals with the fallout of Black Saturday, when the WWF took over the Superstation WTBS wrestling time slots, as well as the launch of the first UWF in Japan. Learn about Dave Meltzer’s psychic powers, the media coverage of Black Saturday, how TBS explained giving Ole Anderson his own new show, the finances of NJPW and AJPW in the early ‘80s, the “WWF Action Line” 976 number, the WWF taking over Toronto, how the Observer covered the Roddy Piper/Jimmy Snuka coconut angle, Nobuhiko Takada’s multiple cancelled American debuts, Vince banning Japanese photographers from MSG, and MUCH more. An awesome show, so check it out! Sign up here. Patrons can click here for the show. We also have a free preview of the episode talking about the WWF Action Line, Titan's 976 number that featured the wrestlers cutting insane promos and telling wacky jokes.
  20. "ECW is negotiating with Buena Vista" is a story that was around at the time, even if it was never true, or if it was and just had nothing to do with a sale. At the very least, it wasn't Heyman pulled completely out of thin air for the new special.

  22. Whether or not certain things that happened in previous Gabe promotions were worse really has nothing to do with anything. And nobody has said that every joke about the open mic tape is unconscionable. But we're talking about a guy who thought he had the high ground because he never used the word "pussy." Styles is kind of a hack, who pretends to be clever because someone much more clever ghostwrote his material during the prime of his career. He filled his open letter with easily provable lies and irrelevant bullshit to make him seem like a Good Person. He's been behaving like sometime who knows that he barely even told a joke because he didn't actually tell any kind of classically structured joke. He also didn't do anything to skewer Trump. All he did was talk about how he thought Joanna Rose was pretty enough to sexually assault and blah blah STOKELY HATHAWAY IS A PUSSY. There was no there there. He couldn't ad lib worth a damn because his entire career was built on a lie cultivated by the far more talented Paul Heyman.
  23. What locker rooms do you hang out in?
  24. "the SJW pile-on in spite of his apology is still horribly unnecessary" I guess that's for me. Read the letter. It's self-serving bullshit that's all about him and he lies multiple times in it. The whole thing has zero credibility and is very obviously designed to frame him as a "good person." Plus he clearly has no idea why people were offended (even if it seems like he gets he was fired because he flagrantly disobeyed Gabe's orders and flipped him off in the process). Like it has anything to do with if he said the word "pussy" or not. It's because the "joke," which was barely ever structured as a joke, was basically "Joanna, you look super molestable tonight, and Stokely, you're comparable to female genitalia because that's hilarious and not at all insulting women as being weak a group even if you give it 30 seconds of thought." Plus it came off as bragging because his "team" won. Again, it barely even had the structure of a joke. He was calling the ring announcer "rapeable," more or less. The 'humor content' of the joke would be the absurdity of the President-elect having been on record making such a statement. The joke is very crude and in very poor taste but can't be read as any condoning of sexual assault. Did anyone say it condoned sexual assault? No. Did Styles put the onus on Rose's physical attractiveness if she were to be assaulted? Yes. And again, it was barely even structured as a joke, much less one where the punchline was "lol, the next president is a sex offender, isn't that ridiculous." It had all the finesse of a 2 year-old trying to tell an adult a story.
