  1. It is but you have to search in Japanese https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6VUQfT8q30 I knew there was a reason I wasn't sure.
  2. http://605pod.com/2016/01/28/605-episode-10-scottish-mongolian/ It’s a supersized Superpodcast as David Bixenspan and The Great Brian Last memorialize the later, great Mongolian Stomper/Archie “The Stomper” Gouldie on top of all of the usual antics: We take a historical look at the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s annual awards. Heath McCoy, the author of Pain and Passion: The History of Stampede Wrestling, joins us to talk about The Stomper’s legendary runs in Calgary. Beau James returns to discuss the legacy of The Mongolian Stomper in Tennessee and the rest of the south. And much more, including Dennis of the Week with special guest Al Getz.. 3. A reference to him being wherever he is. And maybe not being an actual person. But not dead.
  4. Did the videos get deleted? The Segunda Caida link to the Santo/Octagon tag says the video has been removed.
  5. Paul Roma was another who flirted with boxing and I've vague memories of Brian Adams too.Adams was gonna have his debut on a major PPV undercard but the fight was cancelled and he never fought.
  6. Did Fujiwara really *do* a porn, all I know is he directed one for a variety TV show.More than one, horrifyingly enough.
  7. I think Hogan was genuinely deluded about how well Wight could do, but I don't think that really helps much. That said, he clearly had access to Barker being willing to fund whatever for him even before that and didn't seem overly concerned with signing a contract or anything like that. My read of it all (including stuff I cut for space and flow) is that he was just concerned that Wight ending the experiment would risk his relationship with Barker. The Enquirer stuff shows Hogan thought he outsmarted Barker and had found himself a benefactor who would buy him whatever he wanted to help his "friend." SoBe doesn't have much of a case, as most of it (all counts against WWE and most against Wight) has been dismissed. The contract related stuff didn't have much teeth, and the whole thing got so complicated that it's way above my pay grade, but WWE did a strong job proving the signed deal itself was invalid, in part because "Hulk Hogan Promotions" was on it, didn't sign it, may not have existed. etc. I believe that the monies for Wight's home, which always appeared to be the one legit claim SoBe/Barker had. Barker never made any efforts to communicate that Wight was still bound to perform for SoBe until he sent a cease and desist the weekend of the Mayweather match. It seems like Hogan and Wight are no longer friends, but it wouldn't shock me if they reconciled (at least to a point) during the period where Hogan was trying to make amends with his enemies because he decided he was too old for that kind of thing.
  8. http://605pod.com/2016/01/21/605-episode-9-were-gettin-heat/ David Bixenspan and The Great Brian Last set sail on the latest edition of the 6:05 Superpodcast to ruminate on a number of topics including: Bix’s article about The Big Show’s ill-advised boxing venture and Brian’s appearance on The Jim Cornette Experience. The death of “Iron” Mike Sharpe. This week being the 45th anniversary of Ivan Koloff dethroning Bruno Sammartino. Chuck Austin’s injury and lawsuit against the WWF. And much more, including a different kind of Dennis of the Week covering Dennis Coraluzzo giving a speech to the NWA New Jersey locker room as well as the saga of “Sex Appeal” Ronnie Steele. 11. Donahue and some other daytime talk shows (including Oprah) aired live in their home markets. As for Murray in the WBF: He did the opening narration on the home video of the first event and that was it. In the WWF, he did a few weeks of Event Centers as Mark Jennings that aired in scattered markets. There's a VERY brief clip of one of his Event Centers in the segment on the scandals that Geraldo Rivera's "Now It Can Be Told" magazine show did:
  12. Only the most tangential connection. Something related to the Hogan stuff got me doing the research that led to it, but it's not about that at all.Is it related to figuring out how THERMOSES keep hot stuff hot and cold stuff cold?Noooooooooo.

  14. http://605pod.com/2016/01/14/605-episode-8-hang-in-there/ David Bixenspan and The Great Brian Last embark on another edition of the 6:05 Superpodcast to ruminate on a number of topics including: The ridiculous history of "pro wrestling legend" The Hangman/Bruce Pobanz. Japanese wrestling magazines in general including some new ones that Bix just got. The amazing tale of the giant pro wrestler who worked as a bodyguard for drug runner Jon Roberts from Cocaine Cowboys and American Desperado. Listener requests. 15. Watts outright said he fired Orton for it in either a shoot interview or a speech at an event (Gilbert memorial?), can't remember which. I think he also said that if you got jumped by multiple people, you at least needed to have bruises on your knuckles to show that you fought back. He said Orton didn't.
  16. The Graham vs Dusty bullrope match from Philly is quality. One of those matches where Dusty carries things with his charisma. But yes, WWWF wrestling was kind of terrible for the most part. The Backlund era changes things because of his style and opponents, plus the addition of the IC title and better tag teams much of the time.
  17. Beau James is a national treasure. Love that guy.
  18. http://605pod.com/2016/01/07/605-episode-6-the-connecticut-of-kentucky/ David Bixenspan and The Great Brian Last return for the first 6:05 Superpodcast of 2016 for something of a break in format, including: 35 years ago in wrestling history. Jerry Jarrett’s version of the “Dandy” Jack Donovan story from last week’s show. Beau James joins us for follow-up on Mario Galento, east Tennessee territory thieving shenanigans, and RON WRIGHT VS. THE KU KLUX KLAN. Tom Robinson drops in for an extended edition of Dennis of the Week. And much more, including Brian’s introduction to the Jeep Swenson fan club. 19. Rob Russen's channel has a ton of footage, much of it previously rare, from his IWA promotion as well as other groups he was involved with like the NWF: https://www.youtube.com/user/RLRussen There's also a bunch of non-wrestling stuff like videos of his wife and kids plus tribute concerts he promoted, but the wrestling is all mixed in. There's some really cool stuff here, I love the old major indies from the '80s-early '90s and there's a ton here. TV, handhelds, raw footage from international tours...even two different Paul Orndorff vs. Kamala matches from Australia.
  20. I did an ebook of Fall Guys. Can be purchased from the Kindle Store or on PayHip (PayHip gets you both Kindle and ePub versions plus I get a bigger cut). Thanks Bix, will pick it up from PayHip.. Is there a code or anything that needs put in for you to get your cut? Nah, it's my PayHip listing, the way they work, you're actually PayPal-ing me directly and PayHip just takes a small cut. Cool service.
  21. http://605pod.com/2015/12/31/605-episode-6-stop-the-murder/ David Bixenspan and The Great Brian Last are back for the last show of 2015 to discuss some supremely ridiculous wrestling topics, including: Jimmy Hart’s talents as a lyricist. The amazing audio of Mario Galento exposing the business on Memphis radio in 1974 released on Beau James’ podcast. The crazy story of Dandy Jack Donovan allegedly being ambushed by Tojo Yamamoto, Jackie Fargo, and Jerry Jarrett. (Jarrett’s version, which we found after we finished the show, is here) Dark Journey being in the colonic business.. And much more, including the latest edition of of Dennis of the Week. 23. I figured it was something like that. God, wrestling is so strange - what kind of dumbass working for a massive media conglomerate in the 1990s drops a bunch of racial shit? And what other industry would keep hiring him after this? (OTOH, that was TNA, which kept hiring Vince Russo after its network partner specifically asked them not to.) Well, he's in WWE now as NXT's "finishing touches" coach to get everyone ready for the main roster. Apparently he's a Triple H guy stemming from Taylor helping HHH out in WCW.
  24. Really underwater super heavyweight. Always at least bserviceable during his NJPW career, but I though he really put it ask together in the early 2000s. That was when his psychology seemed the best and most refined. Lots of fun "immovable object" spots.
