  1. Define sloppy. Fat, sweaty, black.
  2. I think this is a good point and is the reason why their Japanese shows are getting no buzz at the moment. Their show in Osaka has a line up that sounds like it could have happened in the States during WrestleMania weekend, as no outsiders are being used. When these shows were first announced people were getting ahead of themselves and salivating at the possibilities of seeing Kensuke Sasaki or Toshiaki Kawada in a ROH ring for the first time, so it isn't surprising these shows are getting no buzz when the line up seems like just another house show except it's in a different country. I think there is a good chance these shows could really bomb at the box office, particularly the one in Tokyo, as there are so many bigger shows in those markets that they could easily get lost in the shuffle. They really should've considered going with some of the original ideas, just without Joe. The only person of any note on the shows who hasn't worked an ROH show before is Ricky Marvin, who is awesome but not exactly a DVD seller. Wasn't the whole point of losing their ass on this that they'd be able to use draws like Sasaki & Tenryu who wouldn't come to the US?
  3. Woooow. That's much worse than Meltzer's insistence that the Raw the night before swayed the election.
  4. Hot start, strike exchange, dude works over Kobashi's knee, FIGHTING SPIRIT, headdrop headdrop, pin. Man, fuck that Ric Flair, too. He had samey matches, so he must be awful!
  5. Woooooooooooooooow.

    Vengeance

Slaughter actually carried things well but didn't take his corner bump for some reason.
  7. Khali clearly carried Cena.
  8. In fairness, Nitro is kinda awesome. YEAH, FUCK STORYTELLING! Selling is overrated. RVD is way better than Cena because he does M0AR M0V35!
  9. Fuck it, I quit, I'm not interested in debating with someone who responds to my very real complaints with "YOU HAVNT PAID ATTENTION & R STOOPID LOL". But you HAVEN'T been paying attention.
  10. Cont'd (could Loss please up the number of allowed quote tags if possible?)... Like during his "street fighter" days, when he was the... slowest... rapper... alive? Did the office tell him to do all those gay jokes? They script the promos, so yes. Plus, he hasn't done the gay baiting in awhile and Loss likes him. The booking. How did it make any sense at all for Khali to tap out in their first match? (And I HATE me some Khali, but I still get mad when anyone is clearly being shafted by stupid writing.) Or for them to retroactively shit on the awesome WMXX finish with HHH tapping out to the STF before it had really been established as a finisher, and to tap out way faster than he did to the crossface? Once again, Cena's not a goddamn technical wrestler, he's not supposed to be, he's just a punchkick guy.Khali tapping was bad booking. If you actually read what people post, you'd see that. The STFU debuted about 5 months before WM, and HHH was locked in it for a decent bit of time. So, if my arguments are so wrong... why do I hate watching his matches? You have bad taste in wrestling? You wish he did MOAR M0VE5? I've seen all their taped matches from that period, and Steamboat never got booed close to how Cena did at WM22, ONS2, etcetera. Steamboat was rejected pretty badly at times, and fans are MUCH bigger attention whore now. WM22 and ONS were both booked to maximize the booing.
  11. Flair doesn't punch... he sure does lean on that chop though. Personally, I'd rather see some counter-fest mat wrestling or cool flippy dives than someone who just throws punch after clearly fake punch. Same thing that often bugged me about Bret, for a "technical wrestler" he sure did rely on those overhand rights.Flair punches and you totally missed the point. No, Stan Hansen is what I call "actively good" punches and clotheslines. Cena's have always looked weak.Cena doesn't have the luxury of being a blind dude potatoing people. His clotheslines & punches have looked good for at least six months, maybe more. He looked like he killed Michaels at WM. It's a fireman's carry slam. It has always been a fireman's carry slam, and has been pretty uniform in its execution during the period people have been pimping him. He was booked in a submission match with Chris Masters, the idea being that it was stacked against him. He hooked it, it worked, he kept using it. You'd know this if you'd watch the shows,
  12. DG is drawing well in Osaka right now so the CIMA/KENTA team should help.
  13. Friday 9-12.
  14. Most charismatic /= best babyface/best heel. Cena gets a reaction either way. I think that the best babyface gets almost everyone to cheer him, and the best heel gets everyone to boo him (...or her). I don't think the award is for "Best performance in splitting audience loyalties down the middle... Right. He's still extremely charismatic.
  15. Joey Styles was never actually good. We're gonna have to disagree on that one. Totally, utterly, violently, yet politely disagree. His stuff has AGED really poorly, even with the stuff Heyman was feeding him. Too cutesy and awkward. Great performance at the first ONS, though.
  16. Cont'd... The FU is what it's supposed to be. His drawing is directly relevant to some of your arguments. You don't have to like him, but that doesn't mean your arguments aren't full of holes. And subjectivity rears its ugly head, as I think Cole is clearly worse than everyone mentioned except Grisham.Opinions and blah blah, but I have no idea who somebody can think Tenay is better than anyone in 2007. WOTY is output + drawing, so Morishima doesn't really fit. Most charismatic /= best babyface/best heel. Cena gets a reaction either way. What?!?! He's one of the most protected guys in WWE. "There's no other weekly show that Meltzer would accept" ??? I really don't mind West as the 2007 version of David Crockett. He certainly does a better job than Tazz at this point.
  17. I think he's mostly a godawful wrestler who represents everything I think is wrong with the business today. Yeah, he's kind of a draw and many other people love him, great for them, but I can't stand the bastard. That's pretty much my whole reason, I just viscerally hate watching him wrestle.Ok, WHY?Very limited moveset, he mostly just punches.Jerry Lawler, Steve Austin, The Rock, Bill Dundee, Ric Flair, Nick Bockwinkel... His execution has been fine for awhile. The FU is exactly what it's supposed to be and his punches/clotheslines are actively good now when they were his biggest weakness 2 years ago. The content isn't his fault. His delivery is excellent. He's a dude who fights back against the odds and crap. Why doesn't it make sense? He sells, makes a comeback, and slays the giant. How is this different from the last several decades of pro wrestling? The thing is, he was still drawing. People were either paying to cheer him or paying to boo him, not hating him so much they wouldn't go to shows. They straddled the line and he's cheered 90% of the time now.
  18. Mike Tenay IS TNA management. Joey Styles was never actually good.
  19. This is great.
  20. That had everything you'd want from a UFC show: - Every fight was good to great. - Steve Mazzagatti standing back as a dude is getting killed. - A man named Floyd Sword. - Gray Maynard shoot DDTing himself as Rob Emerson taps out, leading to an ATHLETIC COMMISSION SCREWJOB! - "I WAS NOT UNCONSCIOUS! LOOK AT MY ARM!" - A fight ending on a dude injuring himself in a gross-looking way. - Joe Rogan shamelessly flirting with Bruce Lee's daughter on national TV. - BJ Penn outclassing Jens Pulver. - It was basically a full length UFC show. Awesome stuff.
  21. Mike Tenay says otherwise.
  22. Well, I mean loathsome based on their TV personalities. Vince McMahon is clearly a worse human being than Mike Tenay. Mike Tenay is a much more loathsome TV personality than Vince McMahon.
  23. Yeah, but I watched him call the Armageddon PPV, and saw a few Finlay matches last year, and he was just as shit. How so? He's pretty clearly improved. Even if you wouldn't say he's good, he's worlds better than he was when he was being piled on in '99 and is clearly better than Tenay, Lawler, Styles, Tazz, and Grisham.
