Was coming here to say this. He's a guy that really doesn't get enough credit for being as BAD as he was. Worse yet, he hung around for so many years without having a single memorable moment, match, move, gimmick, anything. Just devoid of anything interesting. His 'Mania X match with Savage was really fun. The topic of the title is most boring wrestler of all time. Not what wrestler has nothing to show on his resume. I would throw Baron Sciluna up as a boring worker.

I'm going to say Crush. He was a bland baby face, boring heel, and an uninspiring wrestler.

Thanks a lot for listening. The comments mean a lot. I do the show because it's a lot of fun. Though to get feedback really does make doing it much more worthwhile. Glad your enjoying the shows.

I enjoyed the guest. I didn't agree with most of his opinions. I did like that he looked at the show through a bookers eye. So it made the show feel different.

Tito Santana vs Rick Martel vs Ricky Steamboat
shoe replied to Superstar Sleeze's topic in The Microscope
This is the 1st one I have. I also want to say Kris Z is much better than I at this sort of thing. Actually Tito does uses the headlock, but in a save me from this beating sort of way. 03/31/84 Greg Valentine vs. Tito Santana It's from Philly. This is pre Greg messing up Tito's leg. They get better after the injury angle in my opinion. -
Furnas run here feels pretty perplexing overall. He was 31 years old and had been in the business for around 4 years so it is not like he was some green rookie. I would be interested if there is any good Furnas singles matches from Continental or anywhere else previous to this run. I haven't seen the footage so I don't know but the his run in WCW really ended abruptly. Check out this: - Doug Furnas vs. Detroit Demolition (Randy Culley) from early '88 in Continental Aka Mr. X. Who is going to work Gigante.
-
Chad you mention that Furnas looked better on this show. Furnas and Dutch worked together in Continental so they have a history so that might be why.

Listening and just an FYI. George Bush was a big fan and actually went to many shows at the SHC before he was President. The Sonia Live show was a show I believe on WGN out of Chicago.

WRESTLING'S GREATEST MATCHES PODCAST

Sounds like a fun premise to talk about. -
Brick at least my analysis has more depth than I saw Super 8 in the crowd. Lmao

Glad you're liking the show. Personally I barely knew any of these guys before we did the show. I credit Parv and James for playing to our strengths. I'm Pete by the way .I 'm all for analyzing matches , but don't feel the need to spend a ton of time disecting a match that we all liked. The arm selling bothered Parv more than the rest of us. I felt he had a valid criticism . Yet I ranked the match at 4 stars and Parv had it at 3 and 3/4 stars . To me we both liked it. I think that sometimes people forget that. Now if we are far apart on a match it's worth looking closer .

Chad we couldn't even put into words on how well executed and shockingly amazing this angle was. If someone wanted to call it the greatest angle of all time I wouldn't argue it. Glad you liked the show.

Rob Naylor used to be my hero. You are my new hero of wrestling podcasts. Hope one day you and Naylor will do a show together, with Will as the straight man. Poor Rob 1st he loses his job and is replaced by Johnny as your new hero. Just kidding, glad you're listening to the show .

I mentioned Patera and Slaughter as Bob's best opponents. I totally dropped the ball on Adrian Adonis.

Where's Brick for a photoshop?

No clue about the Denton connection. In Bigelow's shoot he did claim that he was a bounty hunter.
-
Len Denton was the Grappler and one of the DWB's. In 89 he got a lot of praise for booking Portland. Though a lot of people believe it was Roddy Piper really booking Portland at the time. Just an FYI guys.

Tito Santana vs Rick Martel vs Ricky Steamboat

I voted Steamboat in this poll, but their really isn't a wrong answer. For me Steamer has the classics. I mean 3 decades of awesome matches with Flair. He had great matches with Randy Savage. I loved the Boston match with Jake the Snake. He was able to pull better matches out of Muraco than most. Bret Hart had his 1st great singles match against Steamer. Bret learned it's about the match that night. He had gems with the likes of Steve Austin and Rick Rude. Don't forget his lost classic against Regal at Fall Brawl 93. I'm also a huge fan of the Windham match from Sat. Night 93 He also has a killer war Games to his credit.. The man was the king of having a good match and made his opponent look great in the process. He had great ones with Luger, Funk and a host of others. His tag team work shouldn't be no sold either. One of the all time greats. He had great matches with a variety of partners. He had Youngblood. Dustin, and Shane as partners and had great matches with each of them. He had so many subtle little things he did. to watching his fingers sell, selling a big blow etc. Just the king of babyface selling. I don't always put stock in what wrestlers say, but as Dylan said on a recent podcast if they agree with me it's ok. Bret, Austin, Luger, Flair and even Dusty says if you want to see what a babyface is supposed to work like watch Steamboat matches. Those guys drew big money. -

The actual creator of this comp that JVK lists might want the credit. I know his version is much cheaper and he's a good guy to boot. -
Also Kevin thanks for not leaving me on an Island to my self on the Bob/Duncum match.
-
I've always liked the Brisco match too, the Robinson match I thought was awesome as well. With Inoki it's really frustrating because he's capable of having killer matches. Instead he opts out and coasts through a lot of the matches .
-
John I think the Muraco comparison is a real good one.
-
Some more Golberg. To me the character was a draw. If suddenly he's this great talker I don't know if he would have drew more money. If anything it hurts his aura. His aura and intesity, booking help, and look made him a star.
-
Also part of Goldberg's appeal was that he was a killer. Him being a good talker meant 0 at the box office.

I just started listening an hr and a 1/2 ago.Portland is such a fun territory. Kelly your line about being too cheap to buy something at a flea market was gold. James uneasiness towards Killer Brooks is fun. A little side note he's either Dick Murdoch's brother or cousin. Martin bringing up Street's baby face work in Alabama was cool. It really is some amazing stuff to watch. I don't know if you've ever seen him visit a sick girl in the hospital as a heel. It's such a touching piece on the news.
