  1. I vote Waco or Phil .
  2. Man I hope so. Each year I get more and more bitter when they don't make it.
  3. It was Watts way of creating a black superstar. One of the main problems is Simmons wasn't positioned strong enough yet, and they were feeding him other wrestlers on Clashes and ppv that weren't super over yet. I believe his next program is against Barbarian. He should have been positioned against Vader or Rude were your top 2 heels. Either way though I don't think Simmons could have become a top guy.
  4. I feel I've seen my fair share of both. I would rate both really high. Rose though is the better worker in the ring. Though I preferred Bock's interviews, and he had a better look. They both had great matches with a variety of different opponents. Both guys had strong matches with Martel, and Hennig. Both had great psychology. Both were great tag workers . Both were extremely versatile workers. They both were so varied in what they did in the ring. Though I thought Buddy was the more versatile worker.
  5. Holy shit that is awesome!!
  6. A few years ago I watched the Inoki/Backlund draw and loved it. I thought it was one of the better hr draws I've seen. This Backlund/Inoki match I was not a fan of.

  8. Thanks for using my question and actually evolving it into a more interesting question.
  9. Another team you don't hear that much about, but they are pretty good. It's the Nightmares, Galaxians, Danny Davis, and Ken Wayne. They were the 1st team Cornette managed and really were the template that Cornette turned the MX into . Not the gimmicks, but the type of work that was used . For example , blind tags, double team moves etc.
  10. The Savage Crockett dream match I would have wanted to see was against Tully. Obviously Savage is face here. Though I like him as a heel better. I always thought they had similar heel psychology. Both could hit and run. They both used valets. The 2 of them could get on their bike and run. Both were master cheaters and would resort to dastardly deeds. Savage was the flashier of the 2. Clearly the makings of a classic.
  11. A sidekicks reference .A show that had Buck Rogers himself on. I'm shocked Johnny missed an 80's t.v show reference. It must of aired opposite Alice. The KVE foot jokes were so wrong they were hilarious. Fun show guys.
  12. Appreciate the kind words, and it's a really fun show to be involved with.
  13. He was always on the verge of becoming a good worker . He also had the potential to be a huge star if WCW didn't blow the neck injury.
  14. Rougeau's are pretty mediocre as a team. I liked their matches with Garvins, and the Rockers were high end. After that it was pretty ho hum.
  15. The match doesn't exist on tape . So we have no idea if Flair carried him to a good match. The odds are it sucked, but Flair also said that the title change with Hart sucked so I'll take it with a grain of salt.
  16. The Hawaii match is really good.
  17. Also that SBG / Bruno bout also has a Hogan/Warrior vibe to it.
  18. Yea please elaborate. Are you referring to the hr draw where KVE is fucked up. I don't think it exists on tape or where Fritz claims that KVE had a fever and screwed by a foreign ref from Japan. This is the one Flair gets the title back. Which is a good match .
  19. Loss the WWF having the better division in 89 is spot on. WCW in 89 the tag division was rebuilding with Freebirds on top for a bit. They lost Tully and Arn, and lost MX for a while. The Steiners growing, Doom forms in October, Fantastics gone by Marchish. Then you have Road Warriors and Varsity Club and SST. The WCW really is missing that team than can have good matches with anyone. Most of the time we generalize that the NWA has the better tag division. When you break it down year by year things 89 clearly WWF had the better division. Then in 1990 WCW is back on top in the tag division. Pete I thought of the Guerreros when thinking of most underrated tag team. Quebecers are a great underrated team also and I never thought of them. For best tag workers I feel Arn, Eaton, Steamboat, and after watching the AWA set I feel Bockwinkle should be mentioned in the mix. Soup the Hart Foundation are good, but totally overrated. When they were heels Bret's chest bump into the corner always set up the faces hot tag. I mean you just knew it was coming.
  20. 02-25 1990 OLE/ARN ANDERSON vs TOMMY RICH/RANGER ROSS - NO FINISH SHOWN MAIN EVENT It says no finish shown, but we see Arn give Ranger Ross a sloppy spinebuster and it ends but I bet that is the finish. I would say this is a top 10 tag match for the promotion during the year. This says a lot because their was a lot of great tag matches that year in WCW. The crowd was molten and Tommy Rich was being treated like it was 1982 in Georgia. This is tremendous and an all action 10 minute match. We get a nice shine to start. Eventually they put Ranger Ross in FIP and they just destroy the arm. Just some great tag working on the Anderson's with blocking and the arm work. Ross gets the hot tag to Rich and he's awesome in the hot tag, and eventually gets cut off and they work him over and Rich is great at the hope spots and his fire. He gets the tag to Ross and we work to the finish where the cream rises to the top. I loved this bout.

  22. Was/is it difficult watching your kids attempting to make their mark in the business that their father was a bonafide legend in?
  23. Dylan with all the work on results and championing of Patera . What % of the vote would you be really happy with?
  24. I believe Meltzer mentions a rematch that happened on Saturday Night that blew this one away.
  25. Part of it was that the AWA was truly dieing. I mean all the territories were going down the drain, but it seemed other places were trying something different. In WCCW you had the Eric Embry stuff and morphing into Memphis, you had the UWF being bought out by Crockett and still had a lot of good wrestlers. Memphis still had it's biggest star in Lawler. So to me the AWA decline seemed more finalized.
