Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard
shoe replied to Lust Hogan's topic in Publications and Podcasts
The whole Gino speculation was garbage. I didn't time it, but it felt like they took 20 minutes to go over if they were father/son. If Gino's mom was a mistress or rat. Total sleeze thread material. I enjoyed some of the stories and some of the history. Conrad was a ass hat most of the way, and Bruce was Bruce. Bruce really owes his career to Boesch, but in the end kinda fucks him over. So both hosts look like shit at the end of the show. -

It did. The WWE ran 5 shows with Boesch. They had 4,000, 4,300, 3,700, 1,500ish , and then 12,000. Houston was use to a style of wrestling. By the 4th show the WWF style of 6-12 minute matches had hurt the town. Still the avg of the Boesch promoted shows did better than the previous 2 years without him. -

My bad . On top of that they made fun of the way Boesch built the rematch of Steamboat vs Savage . That drew 4,000 which would have made the 4th highest drawing show WWE had run . Also drew 4X the amount the only non-Hogan show . -

I listened to the Houston show. 1. Bruce claims that Hogan 1st worked Houston on the Boesch retirement show. This is false. In 85 and 86 WWF ran Houston 7 times. Hogan was on either 5 or 6 of the shows headlining . 2. Bruce made the claim that the WWF was doing Boesch a favor by doing business with him. Well Vince is a business man. In reality He needed Boesch or needed it to look like WWF had his approval. In 1985 WWF drew 1,500, 900, 1,400, and 7,000. Terry Funk popped the 7,000 house by wrestling Hulk. Hulk drew 1,500 against Orndorff, and 1,400 against Sheiky. The 900 house was Snuka vs Piper. In 1986 they drew 10,000 with Hogan vs Savage . Though I think the semi main with 2 of Houston's great drawing cards in JYD vs Funk helped it a lot. The next time Hogan vs Savage ran it dropped to 5,400. JYD nor Terry Funk was on the show. The final show of the year for Hogan vs Orndorff drew 1,400. 3. WWF wasn't doing gangbuster business in Houston. They had the same problem in Dallas. 4. They struck a deal with Boesch to have them stop running opposition. 5. The relationship doesn't work out and Boesch retires. Boesch has a no compete for a year according to Peter Birkholtz. WWF is able to get footing in Houston. Boesch returns in 88 with Crockett but the landscape has shifted. 6. WWF wins again. -

2/11/17 NJPW Naito vs Michael Elgin 4 3/4* Damn I really loved this match. We get a really strong shine getting Elgin's strength over. Naito just working the leg. Elgin was great at selling the leg. We got some great hope spots mixed in. Elgin going after the back . I thought the match layout was great. The crowd was incredible 100% behind Elgin. I loved Naito going after the eye . A really great heat spot. We got some great nearfalls on to the finish.

[2017-02-13-WWE-Raw] Charlotte Flair vs Bayley
shoe replied to ShittyLittleBoots's topic in February 2017
2/13/17 WWE Charlotte vs Bayley 41/4* Liking Charlotte in control. Bayley with some fun hope spots. We get a comeback from Bayley. Crowd is really into this. Charlotte hurts Bayley's neck. I'm liking the story here. Charlotte has targeted the neck. Loving Charlotte dropping the knees on the neck. Bayley is really good as plucky babyface. Stiff boot to Bayley. The moonsault made sense by the Cole putting over how it destroyed her neck. Bayley with a comeback only to get cut off. The crowd is biting on every near fall. Huge spot has Bayley using the Fig 4. Bayley to Belly wins it. 2/13/17 WWE Charlotte vs Bayley 41/4*- 2 replies

[2017-02-25-EVOLVE 79] Timothy Thatcher vs Zack Sabre Jr
shoe replied to ShittyLittleBoots's topic in February 2017
Zach Sabre Jr. vs Timothy Thatcher Evolve 2/25/17 4 1/2* Super hot crowd. ZSJ with some nasty lfters. ZSJ after the arm. Thatcher shows he isn't going to lie down. The grappling here is intense, and it really matches the strikes. Both guys are really bringing it. This is really hate filled and feels really personal. ZSJ switches gears and is after the knee and ankle. This is just a classic case of wrestling. Thatcher's heel performance here is top notch. Love him playing to the crowd. These guys so have the crowd here. That finish was nasty, and the crowd erupts. -
2/26/17 ROH/NJ War Machine vs Young Bucks 4* I really liked the psychology here, and the storytelling. Loved War Machine just tossing the Bucks around. Bucks use double teams moves to make a comeback then tried a double tope' only to be caught by War Machine, and then lawn darts them together.I enjoyed the comedy spots in the match. War Machine take a control with power moves. Bucks use their speed for a bit and takes control. We get a solid heat segment from the Bucks. Then we morph into a your turn then my turn with both teams trying to keep the advantage, yet they can't. Finally War Machine is too much to handle. This was really well done. I loved the early shine, I liked the comedy, I liked the Bucks heat, the back and forth wasn't that engaging, and the finish shocked me.

I'm liking the cat and mouse stuff early on.Loving Sweetan punching Morton's arm.Morton uses his areial tactics to keep Sweetan off balance. I'm really liking Morton here in the shine. He's using the headlock as a base and working spots around it. Morton with a victory roll. That's really state of the art for 82.Finally, Sweetan uses his size to cut Morton off. Sweetan on the arm that he worked on early in the match. Crowd getting hot for Morton. After all the ho hum work from Sweetan, Morton makes a comeback. This was solid, but it was clear they were working toward a draw. Loved all of Morton's near falls down the stretch. 2 1/2*

Dusty vs Duggan Duggan with a huge punch, but it's a whiff to start things. Dusty with some shucking and a jiving. Nice arm drags by Dusty and the crowd is rabid here. Duggan looks pissed. Duggan dirty fights him in the corner. I love Duggan's jumping elbow. Duggan takes him outside a beats on Dusty and busts him open. Duggan after the cut. Dusty starts a comeback and is cut off. A little back and forth and Duggan cuts him off. Duggan mounts Dusty and goes after the cut. Dusty powers up and makes a comeback. Robley gets involved and it's a DQ. Brody and Duggan pair off and it's awesome. Slater and Sweetan are out and Sweetan hits a nasty piledriver on Slater. A superfun postmatch that was super heated. This was a real fun spirited brawl. 3 1/4* With the Slater injury, it's a nice angle since it's the Dynamic Duo vs Brody/Slater in a cage later. Duggan's promo was great and effective. Sweetan's promo is really slimy and different than Duggan's , but works. Has a little Bock to him. Robley is an effective promo too. The hard sell for Brody vs Duggan. Brody promo where he threatens to stalk Duggan.

Barbarian already doing KOTM spots. This is a battle of former partners. Jake after the leg. Some brawling outside. Barbarian getting the heat. Crowd is rallying behind Jake. Barbarian working a bear hug. Big kneelift from Jake gives him some seperation. Crowd is 100% behind Jake's comeback.Jake Hits the DDT and Humongous attacks and Jake is busted open. All 3 putting the beatdown on Jake. This adds heat to the Jake/Humongous feud.

I've always loved the Lord Humongous gimmick. Falk is a seasoned pro who you like in an underneath position on your card. Still I think Gary Hart or Skandar Akbar would be a better fit than Humperdink. This was a short effective squash to get Humongous over. This worked.

Dallas after the leg early. Blue with a big kick off. Dallas back to the leg. Again a defiant kick off. Big dropkick by Blue. Dallas bites her . Blue with back to back butt drops. A hair whip by Dallas gets the ref involved. A fun little match. 2 1/4*

Fantastics vs Dutch/Dundee This is a pole match with a bull rope on top. I was here live as a 13 year old kid. Fantastics were always over big in H-Town. You even see a glimpse of me when the Fantastics are getting their love from the ladies. Dundee is known as one of the great pole workers of all time because of his circus background. The crowd goes nuts every time the Fantastics go after the pole. Heels getting heat on them early. Crowd is hot as hell for this . Their are a lot of great near getting the whip spots. The fantastic's comeback was awesome. The cutoffs on the pole have been great. Fulton gets the hot tag after . He gets cut off, but gets the tag to Rogers. The Fantatics get the whip and clear house. A really hot match with a lot of story and a hot crowd. 3 3/4*

Duo vs JYD/Conway Jr Loving Conway Jr. dancing to another one bites the dust, and refers to the faces as the Soul Patrol. Tully pinballing early for the faces. We get some great stooging from the heels. JYD is in and is dominating Gino and Tully. Gino working over JYD. Tully now is working over the Dog. Tiger in and beating on the Duo. I love the boxing spots. Gino is tremendous showing ass. They finally cut off Tiger. He's FIP now and the Duo is in an out with tags. Big drop kick by Gino. Tiger taking a beating. Tully's turn to wear Tiger down. A hot tag the refs don't see. The crowd is pissed. Bock is out and pulls JYD off the apron. Crowd is really pissed. Tully with a piledriver. JYD is bleeding. Tiger is fighting to get to JYD. This is a great heat segment. Tag to JYD, and he's pissed and the crowd is with him. A big thump gets 2 on Tully. Double noggin knocker for 3. Bock is out and we get a heated postmatch. 4* The angle with JYD really added some juice to the match. All 4 guys really played their role well
