  1. I know he worked Lawler early in his career. Is their any footage given significant time of them wrestling one another. I remember the Apter mags pushing his amateur credentials. They would say he has this gimmick so his opponent wouldn't expect his skills on the mat.
  2. I think the crowd can really help make a match. If they aren't buying what the wrestlers are selling it can hurt a match for me. To me wrestlers jobs are to draw money, and to engage the crowd. All things being equal I'll always pick a match with a hot crowd over the one that isn't.

  4. That was the 1st time I've been on a podcast . It was cool to shoot the shit about wrestling, and other topics with a pair of funny motherfuckers.
  5. is their anyone on right now?
  6. I was wondering how much footage is out there for this team. I was watching their match from 1980 in MSG against Tor Kamata and Bulldog Brower and was shocked that they were able to pull that level of match out of those guys. Kamata has some schtick he can work, but Brower has nothing in the tank here. Right at the start the heels Pearl Harbor them and Steamboat does some amazing selling that makes Kamata look like a million bucks . Later Kamata and Steamer have a fun karate off. Youngblood had a lot of energy and could sell too. This match wasn't a lost classic , but just a glimpse of how good this team was. This was also their MSG debut and they got over pretty good. As a promoter watching this you think these guys are your future tag champs. It's pretty amazing how much they got over working against a pair of over the hill workers. Now I know we have The Final Conflict, another televised match between the teams, we have the Starcade match with the Briscos, and a couple of studio bouts. We have the Hansen/Brody disaster from Japan. Their are the Toronto bout against Stevens and Snuka, and a studio bout between the 2 teams. Another match from Japan against the Funks. Are their any other ones out their that should be looked at ? Historians talk about this team in a real high regard . I have even heard the greatest baby face tag team around label thrown around.
  7. He's a hit or miss guy for me. I loved his stuff with Lawler. I really liked his stuff with Taz in ECW. He had good matches with Bret. I did like his Starcade match with Windham. Then he would have some unmotivated snooze fests.
  8. That is if you didn't misplace your disc.
  9. I've always liked shows better when their are disagreements in the matches.
  10. Summers is a piece of work. He cuts promos how they work hard . He'll name drop ACH, Masada etc. That is fine. All of the 3 are baby faces . Then he'll name drop Jaykus Plisken. The crowd goes silent. You want to yell Summers you dumb ass Plisken is a heel. We are not supposed to admire his hard work.
  11. Plus the crowd was there for Lynn. Usually they draw between 100-250. I bet they had 500 packed into that place. So they wanted to see Lynn give a good bye speech, not as a prop in an angle.
  12. It was Jerry Lynn's last match in Austin and they were pushing it hard. He worked his ass of in the main event and the match got over big. The people wanted the speech at the end. Instead the heel group came out and laid out Lynn, his opponent, people from the back, the champ is a girl and they threatened to kill Lynn she didn't give him a title match. They kicked the crap out of her and then pinned her for the belt. So the crowd is pissed. Then we get the Jerry Lynn speech. A lot of the crowd is booing. Scott Summer's Lynn's opponent starts yelling at the crowd for being disrespectful. While the crowd is booing at the bush league angle.
  13. According to ACH Hero was the guy that convinced him to move to St.Louis so he could get more high profile bookings. It seems to be working.
  14. Usually the first few matches are pretty bad. Like Will said it usually takes a national guy to get me to go to the show. Sometimes they have some cool booking moments, I have also seen them book an angle that was so not the time for it. The crowd was really pissed off. You would have to be blind not to see how pissed the crowd was. Speaking of the crowd. I really don't like them. Their is a pocket of heel fans , then their is a few who are just cracking jokes trying to get themselves over. Again the last show I went to I liked except for the big angle at the end that really hurt a nice moment on the show, and for all the fat on the undercard.
  15. No, and you have heard me talk. Zellner, you, and me did a 2 1/2 hr conversation on what matches should go on the SMW set.
  16. I'll make it in this time. Now they'll be 2 Texans on the line even though I was born in NY.
  17. I've been to about 10 ACW shows and they usually have 2 to 3 good matches. Then they have some violent matches with workers who are perfect examples of guys who can't work. They have problems with using way too much chairs especially in the undercard. Though they do have some good workers like ACH, Matthew Palmer, Masada, Robert Evans, JT Lamotta, and Gary Jay. Plus some of the women are pretty hard hitting . They also bring in some national Indy stars from time to time like El Generico, Hero, Lynn, Tozawa, and Cabana.Their live shows go for about 5 hrs. They would benefit from cutting the fat and doing shows in the 3 1/2 hr range.
  18. ACH, Bolt Brady, and JoJo Bravo work a lot here in Austin for the ACW promotion. ACH is the cream of the crop of the 3. He's treated like he is Rey Misterio here in Austin. How well did he connect to the crowd? In ACW he has the crowd eating out of his hand. Bolt Brady is a guy who has some fun spots. I have yet to see him put it together and have a good match. Though he had a solid 3 way comedy match with Cabana and ACH. Bravo is someone who I have seen a couple of times and thinks he has potential . He has really good facials in the ring. Though he tends to play stuff up for comedy instead of intensity. Still from what I have seen shows me he has potential if given proper guidance.
  19. I had the Steve O tag from disc 3 DFL on that disc. On the 2nd disc I have Hogan/Saito next to last. It is safe to say neither match did anything for me.
  20. I have always liked Tully as a worker. Man he 'd talk or kick Magnum TA's crutches from him, or triple team Dusty and you'd be like what a prick. He has plenty of awesome matches on his résume. The thing that sticks out to me is that the man doesn't have boring matches.
  21. Haha I never noticed it before, but totally believeable.
  22. Having Piper out there really helps. This feud is really getting hot.
  23. Now this was my match of the night . I loved Liger's outfit. Both guys worked pretty hard. I dug Liger's ankle injury spot. Nogami worked it over well. I liked how Liger would do certain moves and the ankle would fail him. Just a really strong match.
  24. MOTY my ass. Still this was a fun suplex Fest. Their wasn't much of a story. It looked like Hase was the FIP for a bit. I would have kept the top rope double team DDT as the finish instead of the Frankensteiner. Maybe the finish was too close to the Liger/Nogami finish.
