This was a solid match that started pretty hot with dives to the outside. I would have preferred if they would have built to them. Sting doing a top rope belly to back suplex. The finish I liked in the states not on a Dome show.

[1991-03-15-USWA Texas] Steve Austin vs Gary Young (Coal Miner's Glove)
shoe replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
This was a solid match. Austin was real lucky to be able to work with all these experienced hands when he 1st started out. That clothesline out of the corner was a thing of beauty.- 7 replies

[1991-03-14-NJPW-Big Fight Series] Jushin Liger vs Norio Honaga
shoe replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
I really liked this. It had a basic storyline to it. With some cool Liger spots sprinkled in. Honaga being a prick and using rough house tactics was great. He did a good job targeting Liger's back and ribs. Liger would fight back. It was an easy story to follow along with. I thought the finish sucked . It had the Estrada chain match vibe to it.- 11 replies

I have it as 4/26/80. They also have another great one on 5/10/80

Just a fun skit. Things like this are major reasons why The Million Dollar Man character is remembered fondly by fans even today.

[1991-03-11-WWF-Pensacola, FL] Shawn Michaels vs Mr Perfect

This match was pretty good. Their was a lot of energy in this. The dive into the camera man was a wtf moment -
[1991-03-11-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Jake Roberts in the studio
shoe replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
The snake lessons were boring. Now getting over the blindfold gimmick is great. Jake comes across as real in a promotion full of cartoony buffoons. I think being in the WWF made it easier to get his character over. When everyone else are yelling in their promos or coming across as phony he stands out. -
This really was great. A real fun brawl. Larry Z was great, and you have to give Sting credit for getting out of his comfort zone. It's a shame we don't have more footage of this feud because the preceding angle and this match are great step 1 and 2 in a feud. You see this a lot with Sting. When he gets challenged by getting out of his comfort zone he really delivered. You saw it here, with Regal, with Foley etc.

[1991-03-10-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Interview: Ultimate Warrior
shoe replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
He seems more natural this year. -
He's a guy who I haven't seen a lot of. Just some matches with Flair, Hansen, Brody, Funk, Leo Burke, Abby, and a few others. So color me excited about the DVDVR set of the 80's that will be released at some point. Their seems to be a lot online so If I was really motivated I could check it out .

As a guy who really doesn't follow the current product, I love this place because I can discuss the wrestling that I like.

Having trouble getting through the AWA set?

I'll give you guys credit. It has got to be tough to not have dead air while watching the matches. -
Martel who as a wrestler gained a lot of cred with me recently. Martel was a great baby face worker in the Steamboat, Morton vein. He seemed like a really smart worker who could tell a story in the ring. He was great at working a body part and working spots around it. From what I have seen of him in Portland, AWA, Japan, territories in Canada,WWF, and in his last run in WCW he could go. In Portland he had a match with Buddy Rose that I think is one if the greatest matches of all time . They had a great feud with one another. His team with Piper where he worked against Rose Army, and the Sheepherders produced some great matches. In the AWA he got a run as world champ. His matches against Bock were some of the best matches of the 80's. I really loved that feud from a working perspective. He had other good matches with the likes of Gordy, Saito, Hansen etc. He even had one against Boris Zuchov which to me says a ton. In Japan he had really good matches with Flair, Jumbo, Choshu. He also had really good matches with Jumbo in the AWA also. He went down to Memphis and had one heck of a match with Lawler. In WWF he had a good run as one half of Strike Force. Their matches with the Islanders were fantastic. They also got some decent matches with Demolition, and Hart Foundation. He would eventually turn heel and develope the "Model" gimmick. He had a fondly remembered feud with Jake, and some show stealing matches with Tito. In Canada he had some good bouts with Jimmy Garvin and Sheik Ali. He made a big return in WCW and had fun bouts with Saturn, and Booker T. Overall a really hard worker who has been in a lot of good to great matches.

[1991-03-09-WCW-Saturday Night] Ric Flair and Ranger Ross

The myth was that this was a Bill Watts thing. To me it seems more like a Dusty thing. By it I mean pushing the Omni show .- 9 replies

[1991-03-09-WCW-Saturday Night] Danger Zone: Theodore R. Long
shoe replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
I wouldn't call it a great segment, but it was entertaining. Kinda funny the original pairing of Doom with a big breasted woman was to get heat in the south. Now Simmons as a face their attempt to get him over is to be in the orbit of another big breasted women. I guess it's all in the presentation.- 7 replies
