  1. Have their been any old school house show updates recently?
  2. If you haven't seen it yet, find the Bock-Verne match from Chicago on 2/11/79. It aired on one of the Japan Classics show (they were there to tape Baba vs. Abdullah and another tag match IIRC). You could compare your thoughts on their 80's stuff you've seen to that Verne-Bock match, which was more of a one-off, in the sense that Bock was built as avoiding Verne throughout much of his title run.
  3. Greg Valentine & David Shultz vs Tony Atlas & Rocky Johnson (Hartford, CT, 23/11/84)(hand held camera) I ran across this on a mixed disc last night by accident. This was the closing match on a "Steel Cage turmoil" card held in Hartford. For those that haven't seen the card, the idea of the Cage card was to start out with two wrestlers, and the winner stayed in the cage and faced the next wrestler to come out...it was a gauntlet style setup. Very odd idea. I note that tag match not for anything special other than the seemingly random Schultz-Valentine pairing, and the fact that such a random bout closed out the card. Here's the full lineup from that night courtesy of Cawthon's History site. Check out some of the results...Strongbow over Patera must've been sold as Patera being completely exhausted, given Strongbow was jobbing to everyone at that point. I'd have to watch the card again, I don't remember it all as it's been a lot of years since I watched it: WWF @ Hartford, CT - Civic Center - November 23, 1984 Steel Cage Turmoil: WWF IC Champion Greg Valentine defeated SD Jones WWF IC Champion Greg Valentine defeated Angelo Mosca Tony Atlas defeated WWF IC Champion Greg Valentine Tony Atlas defeated Bob Orton David Schultz defeated Tony Atlas Tito Santana defeated David Schultz Tito Santana defeated Moondog Rex Tito Santana defeated Bobby Heenan Tito Santana defeated Moondog Spot Ken Patera defeated Tito Santana Ken Patera defeated David Sammartino Ken Patera defeated Swede Hanson Ken Patera defeated Mario Mancini Ken Patera defeated Mr. Fuji Ken Patera defeated Jose Luis Rivera Chief Jay Strongbow defeated Ken Patera Big John Studd defeated Chief Jay Strongbow Big John Studd defeated Salvatore Bellomo Finals: Big John Studd defeated Rocky Johnson Non Cage Matches: David Sammartino defeated Mr. Fuji The Tonga Kid defeated Roddy Piper via disqualification Tito Santana defeated Moondog Rex Tony Atlas & Rocky Johnson defeated WWF IC Champion Greg Valentine & David Schultz via disqualification
  4. nice to see Clawmaster here with his results goodness.

  6. Maybe the rumours of their being a stockpile of Toronto footage was true, and it's that stuff. Bruiser's wife was still sitting on the WWA tape library last I heard. Could be that one, too.
  7. EDIT: I'll try something different for a while...though all your posts seem so much more classy in italics.
  8. No AWA yet, I presume?
  9. You just like his moustache. Admit it.
  10. ..and yes, mark me down as being in the "David manning blows goats" camp. Just atrocious.
  11. Gary Derusha, the main referee in the AWA's dying days, is an interesting case. As a referee, he wasn't bad, but his voice..holy shit. Counting pins, counting for hold breaks on the ropes, counting ten when wrestlers were outside the ring...jesus. His voice took center stage ahead of the in-ring action a lot because it was just so overpowering, and monotonish at the same time. I don't know if that made him a bad referee but it was as distracting as any referee getting involved physically to me.
  12. Question...was the free trial only for the first week, or will it be a standard offer for anyone that wants to take the network for a test drive before committing to purchase it? Just curious, thanks.
  13. RIP. Great worker and a long-time personal favourite.
  14. I've read a report that some of the Old School house shows have been cut down to an hour or less. Sounds like the MSG Classics versions more than the actual shows if this proves to be accurate.
  15. re: Foreign orders: There isn't supposed to be any yet. US Only from what I understand. Anyone accessing the system outside of the US (Canada, unfortunately, included) is doing it without official knowledge and will show up to the WWE Servers as US subscribers.
  16. The hope (for me at least) is that they put up the pre-1984 shows, which run back in to at least 1973. How many were preserved is up for debate, and if they dark-taped the blackout shows that didn't air on MSG. It all depends on WWE's definition of "all MSG shows".
  17. If when they say they are adding all the MSG shows that were taped, they mean it, it's huge. There are tons of shows on Cawthon's site that aired back then but have never showed up since. This would also answer such things as whether or not certain shows were taped at all. If they mean "everything that has already been converted" is what is being added, well, that's good, but there won't be anything "new". Keep your fingers crossed "all" means "all".
  18. Any signs of the AWA yet? Anyone tried "Bockwinkel" or "Bockwinkle" in the search engine?
  19. My expectation is that the WWE will actually celebrate the system crashing/super slowness/whatever the major issues are on RAW tonight, since it is indicative of the demand for the network amongst fans right out of the gate. I'd do that too...best way to put a positive spin on the issues that have cropped up.
  20. Curious, can you pay out of your existing funds in your Paypal account (for those that keep a balance on the plus side of things) or does it default straight to your credit card for payment?
  21. The MSG stuff is "existing stock" (played before on Classics on Demand). I wonder if they will just start the WCCW run all over again as that show may have been the first one they played when they started putting up a show every month back in the day.

    Current WWE

I think they've been doing that for a while now. I've seen it, probably on the HOF's they broadcasted on Classics on Demand.
