Gary Derusha, the main referee in the AWA's dying days, is an interesting case. As a referee, he wasn't bad, but his voice..holy shit. Counting pins, counting for hold breaks on the ropes, counting ten when wrestlers were outside the ring...jesus. His voice took center stage ahead of the in-ring action a lot because it was just so overpowering, and monotonish at the same time. I don't know if that made him a bad referee but it was as distracting as any referee getting involved physically to me.

Question...was the free trial only for the first week, or will it be a standard offer for anyone that wants to take the network for a test drive before committing to purchase it? Just curious, thanks.

I've read a report that some of the Old School house shows have been cut down to an hour or less. Sounds like the MSG Classics versions more than the actual shows if this proves to be accurate.

re: Foreign orders: There isn't supposed to be any yet. US Only from what I understand. Anyone accessing the system outside of the US (Canada, unfortunately, included) is doing it without official knowledge and will show up to the WWE Servers as US subscribers.

The hope (for me at least) is that they put up the pre-1984 shows, which run back in to at least 1973. How many were preserved is up for debate, and if they dark-taped the blackout shows that didn't air on MSG. It all depends on WWE's definition of "all MSG shows".

If when they say they are adding all the MSG shows that were taped, they mean it, it's huge. There are tons of shows on Cawthon's site that aired back then but have never showed up since. This would also answer such things as whether or not certain shows were taped at all. If they mean "everything that has already been converted" is what is being added, well, that's good, but there won't be anything "new". Keep your fingers crossed "all" means "all".

Any signs of the AWA yet? Anyone tried "Bockwinkel" or "Bockwinkle" in the search engine?

My expectation is that the WWE will actually celebrate the system crashing/super slowness/whatever the major issues are on RAW tonight, since it is indicative of the demand for the network amongst fans right out of the gate. I'd do that too...best way to put a positive spin on the issues that have cropped up.

Curious, can you pay out of your existing funds in your Paypal account (for those that keep a balance on the plus side of things) or does it default straight to your credit card for payment?

The MSG stuff is "existing stock" (played before on Classics on Demand). I wonder if they will just start the WCCW run all over again as that show may have been the first one they played when they started putting up a show every month back in the day.

I think they've been doing that for a while now. I've seen it, probably on the HOF's they broadcasted on Classics on Demand.

I couldn't log in on my laptop all weekend...actually any of the board links I tried from Google and my e-mail topic reply notifications all sent my to a "Page Could Not Be Displayed" spot with no access. I thought it was the board being upgraded but I see it may be another issue. I've copied and sent myself the link to the front page from work this morning so we'll see if that works tonight. If not, I'm not sure what the issue might be. I post this here in case there are any missing posters since the upgrade, they might be in the same boat.

Doug Somers took a bump during a tag with Rose at the Showboat once that he seemed to legit fuck up his ankle, to the point where it looked crooked in his boot and he had Sherri help him hobble around. The match ended at that point but I think it was the planned ending. I think it was against Snuka and Gagne but I could be wrong. Given the way the tapings were shown, he never seemed to miss any time and there were no indications afterwards that he was really hurt (at least on TV) that I recall. So that's one I've never been sure of. The way his ankle looked in the boot was what I remember.
