  1. Recommendations?
  2. So who are the manager (who pushed Ahtu out of the corner) and the ref (who didn't stop the match with a "knockout" finish to keep Ahtu from more damage)? Granted... Ki is the same asshole he's always been in the ring. But those two were total cocksuckers. John
  3. UK Rampage 92 - Sheffield, England - Arena - April 19, 1992 WWF World Champion Randy Savage pinned Shawn Michaels (w/ Sensational Sherri) at 16:58 with a reverse crossbody off the top; Elizabeth escorted Savage to the ring before the match but he sent her backstage mid-way through the contest after Sherri tried to attack her on the floor; Elizabeth returned late in the match to counter Sherri's interference; after the contest, Savage fought off a double team from Michaels and Sherri and cleared them of the ring (Elizabeth's last appearance) (aired on 06/15/92 Prime Time Wrestling) 5/17/92 Challenge: included Gene Okerlund conducting a podium interview with WWF World Champion Randy Savage regarding Ric Flair & Mr. Perfect, during which Okerlund announced Flair & Perfect intended to reveal more damaging evidence about Miss Elizabeth the following week 5/23/92 Superstars: featured footage of Ric Flair & Mr. Perfect having a picnic where they played a tape of Miss Elizabeth supposedly leaving a message on Flair's answering machine with her saying she loved him and was waiting for him at home; That was it. And she did leave quickly after Mania. As Loss says, there were personal issues going on at the time as well. John
  4. Yeah, that angle got a quick drop. John
  5. Bix: what's MKJ saying on this? He's often been more dialed into the WWE than Dave is.
  6. Naylor tossed this up on fb: What was on the WON site: Basically the WON is saying that "FCW" is being closed down in Florida and moved to Stamford (or potentially somewhere else). Trip didn't deny that this could be happening. The WON item indicated that the WWE is ramping up development (possibly opening a second territory). Trip indicates that the WWE is ramping up development. Basically Trip's issued a non-denial denial. I hope that folks in Florida aren't reading Trip's comments to mean that they'll be staying in Florida, or that Trip shot down the dirtsheets. John
  7. Yeah, that part really sucks.
  8. Add in Eddie Edwards when you do Richards. Not as a team: Eddie's had more than enough singles to warrant a rating. John
  9. The other thing that's strange is that Austin clearly had to recall the Chono injury and just should have stuck to his Guns: "I don't want to do this spot. Sorry." I know it's Owen, and Owen had the track record of being ultra safe. But Austin had an easy out if he was truly worried: "Look... I've done it before, and something bad happened. Just don't want to be in that spot where something could go wrong." Not really blaming Austin for that, but if he was as concerned as he's said since (and I have no reason to doubt him), he just should have stuck to those guns. John
  10. Great line. John
  11. Inoki invented Pro Wrestling = MMA, so of course he needs to be on the list. John

  15. Again, I'm a short guy at 5-3. Been use to being the short guy all the way back to elementary. Two of my current best buds are 6+... the four attorneys I work for are all tall (the two males are 6+, the two women are tall with one just shy of 6). I've always dated taller women. I just didn't get the sense that any of the AJW girls were unusually tall compared to typical women, and certainly not all that large (other than Aja/Bull/Reggie... probably Kyoko, though she doesn't stick out in my mind backstage). Even Hotta who was "largish" in the ring in 1995-96 didn't come across as huge backstage in street clothes: I was regularly around women who were taller and bigger without being "fat" but just kind of large boned/bodied, which is what Hotta was relative to say Kyko. Like I say, it's probably a perspective thing. I was use to larger wrestlers backstage by that point: guys. It was more noticeable when wrestlers were small: lucha guys like Rey and Juvi were closer to my size. The Joshi wrestlers just struck me as Women. In fact, it struck me more what amazing shape Jaguar was in backstage than how tall she was. John
  16. What's strange is that I didn't feel they were all that tall back in 1995 & 1996 when I was backstage. I'm 5-3. Perhaps some of it was that I didn't feel they were very "large" relative to all the other wrestlers I'd been around through the years, and with wrestlers a big chunk of that is more weight and size rather than just height. John
  17. Trip tripping on the ballons is far more entertaining than anything Brody did. John I did not want to touch that one... John
  18. Trip sells better than Brody. Trip shows more ass than Brody. Trip makes his opponents look better than Brody. Yeah... it's a really bad sign for Brody when he's *worse* than Trip in things that are a *weakness* of Trip's. John
  19. I enjoyed the books since I was a teenager. I hated the movies. John
  20. I've been to several joshi cards. Storytelling was as fun as go-go-go. That was both in smaller buildings and at major arenas. Good workers can get across "what they're doing" in their storytelling matches. John
  21. Court was #1 in the world in 1973 when Riggs beat here and King beat Riggs. The top womans player would never compete against the top mens players. But that's relevant... how? Womens tennis at a high level has been exceptional for decades, probably always has been. Martina & Chris were every bit as awesome to watch as Borg, Mac and Connors. John
  22. The match Phil recommends is on this card: WWF @ Long Island, NY - Nassau Coliseum - July 9, 1994 (3,100) Randy Savage pinned Jerry Lawler at 11:04 by reversing a backdrop attempt into a sunset flip WWF World Champion Bret Hart defeated Owen Hart with the Sharpshooter in sudden death overtime of a 60-minute marathon match; results of falls: Bret pinned Owen at 35:31 by reversing a sunset flip, Owen won via submission to a figure-4 at 43:58, Owen won via submission to a figure-4 at 46:08, Bret won via submission with the Sharpshooter at 53:45, Bret won via submission with the Sharpshooter at 1:08:23 Might want to include it in the 1994 set. smkelly mentioned it as looking interesting off a tape list, but no one pimped it. I suspect the Bret-Owen is a lock. John
  23. I suspect you'd find that a large majority of Best Actress Nominees over the past 20 years come from movies where the Woman Is The Lead. A smaller % would be tweeners (and depending on how we shade them), and still fewer Man Is The Lead. By large majority, I suspect the split would be 67% / 20% / 13% at worst. 20 year is a bit of a pain in the ass, but just as a starter look at the last 5 years: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_Award_for_Best_Actress The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo might be the only one with a Male Lead... and perhaps some would call it Tweener Leans Male. But beyond that, it's a little surprising how few Tweener movies there are in the last five years. Blue Valentine. Doubt. The Last Station... maybe... though that leans more to Helen. An Education really is Mulligan's. Rabbit Hole is Kidman's movie, right down to it being her project. Of 25 nominees, 1 has a Male Lead, two are tweener movies... The Last Station in the gray area between Woman Lead and Tweener Leaning Woman, but I think most people would see it as Helen's movie. John
  24. I think that list already exists to a degree: The stuff that's made the Yearbook. John
