  1. It's the longest drawn out death rattle in history! A death rattle of the death rattle. I joked a long time ago that I thought TNA was like the undead combination of WCW and ECW leftovers.
  2. 3-Count would have been a much better gimmick in WWE. Especially around this time when it seemed they were aiming at the Nu-Metal crowd. Doesn't make it any less perfect for WCW around this time, but they could have given it way more heat up north.
  3. A few rants somewhere on the web might be all it got. He was a mid-card guy employed during WWE's lowest period of positive visibility and business.
  4. I wonder what it was that precipitated Hogan's leave of absence, and more importantly why it was treated as a retirement. My first guess is that it was to maybe have more of a serious go at acting on Hulk's part (something I say very loosely). I'm guessing the end-game to it was to always bring him back, like they did do in '93.
  5. The good thing it did was bury the lead that Virgil was going to eventually turn on him.
  6. I think Bret said it in his book, actually. Big problem with it was the color, which was probably for TV as well. I like that they painted it black for the Austin/McMahon match.
  7. And Nash destroying everybody for awhile. That was the highlight of the night, watching it. Must have been the first time I knowingly cheered for a heel.
  8. He also mentioned something on Twitter about liking the Will Ferrell GWB HBO special.
  9. I have heard that the blue cage was more stiff than regular cages of the time. Yet it has the rep it does. Strange.
  10. Nobody is going to mention Vince's dye job?
  11. I thought it was for no other reason than he could.
  12. Did you buy him any less as a turncoat?
  13. I thought it was really interesting how they had Austin work other heels during this time.
  14. The Ultimate Warrior matches were, I believe. They sure as hell didn't call it in the ring.
  15. Randy Savage liked to pre-plan matches too, and nobody with at least half a brain said he couldn't work. I like DDP. He was good for WCW when his stock rose. He wasn't perfect at everything but there was a passion that came through, and still does. He has the charisma a professional wrestler should have.
  16. I'm not as familiar with this period, but what little I've seen of Backlund didn't make me feel that he was as disliked by the audience as some claim. It could be true, but again with what little I did watch I didn't see it.
  17. I remember those rumors being particularly strong then. Looking back, it would have been terrific if they did get Randy back. I posted elsewhere my fantasy scenario of him coming back. Vince stands in the middle of the ring, announces him back (in the way he could only do). Randy comes out, hi-5's the audience, shakes Vince's hand and they start the interview off with all the pleasantries. Then the interview gets serious, and at some point Vince slips up. He refers to him as you-know-what. Randy stops in his tracks, slowly takes off his glasses (in the way he could only do), and loses his cool. Him and Vince jaw it out before Randy finally attacks, going as far as giving him the elbow before Shawn Michaels comes in and does the rescue. And your hype for WrestleMania 13 begins. A solid main event everyone can get behind, Randy gets his glory and Shawn doesn't lose his smile.
  18. I'm warming up a bit to Steve's style. Listening to his interviews first, then I'll probably get to his solo stuff.
  19. Just a guess, but I imagine the steroid scandals and such had more to do with this.
  20. Monsoon undermining someone? No way.
  21. If it's what he wanted, and WWE wants to put him in, they should just bring Lanny and Angelo in. The Genius was a great character and Lanny was a good worker and good on the stick as well. I don't know a whole lot about Angelo's career, but you'd think Vince would admire him for what he did with ICW in relation to what Vince eventually did nation-wide.
