Yeah, Green's a big fan. How many times has he thrown in wrestling stuff in the Robot Chicken series?

Wouldn't that be greater evidence that the Creative Staff (or Vince) aren't actually Michael Jackson fans and also don't know the words to Beat It?

"Macho Madness: The Randy Savage Ultimate Collection"
Marty replied to stunning_grover's topic in Megathread archive
Yeah, I don't get the hate for Maria being on the Macho disc. Not the most ideal host perhaps, but because of the screen time she was on for, it was far from ruined. They also weren't going to do a "shoot" (ha!) documentary for it. Whole plan was to celebrate Macho's career, not put the set in a position where he's buried. I also think on some level, Maria was used to try to increase sales. A lot of the "historical" DVDs recently sold haven't been selling that great (SNME and Starrcade come to mind) and while I'm certain they figured a Savage set would sell well (which it apparently has) they also wanted to throw a Diva in there for sales purposes. I'm not sure if this speaks for a lot of the fanbase, but I do know a BIG Maria fan who said that something like a Savage set is something he wouldn't have thought of buying (not a big fan) but now it's something he considers. Anyways, I enjoyed the set. Seen a lot of the matches before, but still enjoyed them. Think I enjoyed the promos even more. -
Pretty certain the stuff listed is stuff Loss has either seen fairly recently or stuff he saw some time ago but his opinion hasn't changed much.
-
To the best of my memory, the Mysterio-Malenko matches that were previously released on DVD were GAB 96, Nitro July 96 (Mysterio title win) and Halloween Havoc 96.
-
I'm digging the Jericho additions, Loss. In fact, this list is making me want to rewatch TLC 4 and the Jericho-Christian ladder match from '04. I don't recall being overly impressed by either (the former always felt like an even more crazy fustercluck than even other TLCs and the latter always struck me as solid, but nothing great). What did you like of both?
-
If memory serves, there are only two rehashings of matches here (Hogan-Flair and Flair-Steamer Chi-Town). Wasn't surprised that Ted Turner and Bill Shaw turned down being interviewed, but was a little surprised that Bischoff turned things down, but Goldberg apparently got interviewed. Gotta figure the "Lost in Cleveland" footage is intended as a rib on Foley. http://www.silvervision.co.uk/products/The...VD-3-Discs.html

It wouldn't shock me if it's true, but until a source greater than "rumors swirling around the locker room" mentions it, I'm hardly taking it at face value. There was a rumour going around our workplace not long ago that I was leaving. Turns out it was someone that has the same first name. There's been similar rumours involving me or other coworkers of that nature too. I think I lost count on the number of times. Again, not saying this story isn't true. But wacky rumours/stories pop up at normal office workplaces. Can't imagine the types of stories that exist in wrestling locker rooms that are hearsay at best.

Yeah, I eat my words now after RAW.

Why is it assumed that Jericho and Edge will be on all three shows? Something Meltzer said?
-
What doesn't help matters is Vince spending the week switching from heel (opposite Trump) to face briefly (opposite Orton when announcing 3 Stages of Hell) back to heel (opposite Teddy Long). Felt like Chyna in 1999.
-
It did feel like Worker and Parasite on my TV screen during that Vince/Trump segment...
-
Good stuff. I wonder how Meltz missed doing a Juvi joke when the time came.

I think where many people take issue with the "20 seconds it took to cover him and he still got the pin" issue is that, when others hit finishers or signature moves and it took them many seconds before getting a cover, the opponent got the shoulder up in time. It's not something I rake HHH over the coals for, but had Booker got the shoulder up, then HHH later hit the Pedigree and slowly rolled over Booker and just fell over on top of him, it would have kept the point that HHH was still winded and still protected the Pedigree as the finisher, while not doing any harm to Booker. Fair point. You're right, that would've been a better scenario. I still think the overall booking of HHH not getting his comeuppance from Booker really hurt Booker in the long run. Took three years and a few turns for him to get a strong main event run again. He had a brief go the year after with Undertaker, but it was after a heel turn and going with the Booker Shango gimmick.
-
I still hate the overall booking (the way the story was done, Booker T absolutely had to go over HHH at some point to shut him up and avenge his own past) but I disagree that HHH buried Booker by waiting 20 seconds or whatever before pinning him. Booker had already taken a beating at the hands of both HHH and Flair, to the point where his legs were past the point of usefulness. Before that, though, he managed a somersault legdrop off the top rope onto HHH that knocked him out good. I think if HHH pinned Booker instantly after the Pedigree, it would've hurt the affect of Booker's top rope move, which still looks deadly watching it today. Booker still should've won the gold at some point in that feud, no doubt. He was booked as a far greater sympathetic opponent of HHH's than Nash, Steiner, RVD, Kane or even HBK, and there needed to be a payoff to that. But I don't hate the 20 seconds before pinning him like others do.

Don't know where Punk sits on the political spectrum. Forgot to mention Jericho. Heavy conservative. Made a comment to TMZ about Obama when asked which of the two has better abs: "I do, but Obama is going to give 65% of my abs away to other people." I somewhat also think JBL is less conservative than most people think. Not saying he isn't a conservative at all, but he isn't the hardcore heavy right winger that people may think of him. He expressed congrats and support for Obama when he won, and before, really only thought that Obama's stance versus big business was the only thing he didn't really like about him. There was also something where he visited either the Arctic or Antartic for studies and came with the conclusion that global warming is a bigger threat than its critics imagine. The guy strikes me as more of a strong fiscal conservative than all-round hardcore one. He seems hateful of Congress in general than certain Democratic ideas and views.

The ones I'm pretty certain lean left are Foley, Heyman, Batista and likely Bret Hart. The Bret one I'm just guessing but he made it known on his Chapters (Canadian Barnes & Noble) page that he was reading one of Clinton's books. Heyman is one we've assumed for a while. Batista wasn't exactly subtle on his book about how he and his family hated Reagan. I was going to mention the Foley disc thing with respect to Joey, but rovert covered it nicely. One of the biggest right wingers in the business that hasn't been mentioned yet is Bischoff. He's been more strongly against Obama than just about anyone else, even Joey. And he doesn't have a McMahon to bother pleasing with his comments either.

In some ways, I agree totally. The guy sucked. In other ways, it feels like it came out of nowhere, especially with the promo he cut on RAW, being revealed as the surprise participant, and being involved in a WWE Films project, even if it was a straight-to-DVD one. Be interesting to read what insight and backstory Meltzer can provide.
-
The AWA match wasn't on the AWA DVD. Earliest match from the set was from '74 (although WWE fucked up and said '71). I think KHawk means it's been available elsewhere, like WWE 24/7 or something.

Too bad. I would have liked to have seen the picture of the last house on the end of Bad Street. . . Damn you, that song is now stuck in my head. . . Perhaps Old Lady McDuffie finally got that part of town cleaned up for good.

In terms of being forced out of the arena on Monday, yeah mostly. But in rejecting their offer for compromise and fucking over the paying fans of Colorado Springs? Moving the scheduled Smackdown show is every bit as bad as what's being done to them in Denver. Not just the Colorado Springs fans either. They cancelled the house show on Sunday in Loveland, Colorado too.

How are the ratings for UK-taped RAWs in comparison to live RAWs?

"He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad
Marty replied to Bix's topic in Megathread archive
There's a bigger chuckle in the Comments as Scott tries to explain that he really meant the entire Rosemont crowd would be scoreboard-watching instead of paying attention to the matches. That's awesome. And even than his "Classy Meltzer" comment from last week. -
Sorry for the non-contributory post, but I too have to give thanks for the link. Awesome reading!

"He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad

Got a nice chuckle of Scott comparing the WWE-Denver situation to the "potential" situation of the Chicago Blackhawks hosting Game 1 of the NHL West finals on Sunday fucking up things with the PPV, even though the Blackhawks play at the United Centre and not the Rosemont.
