Wow... that's quite bad. Was there any payoff for Steph being in bed, such as in there with someone other than Trip? John A sick part of me was hoping that's where Jericho makes a cameo appearance.

For those who haven't seen it, the skit in question: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmeBE0TIIJE

Watched this set a while back and really enjoyed it. Not much else I can add that others haven't mentioned. Wanted to pass on some related news in case those here haven't already heard: http://www.wwedvdnews.com/planned-wwe-dvd-...e-reveal1/6420/ They're planning a WCW Nitro Best Of Seasons 1 & 2 set in the same format.

What about these guys: http://www.pwhf.org/halloffamers/inductees.asp I realize there's probably inductees here that would cause people to raise eyebrows and that they've gone overboard with some category (hello, ladies!), but with the age and experience restrictions being much stronger than Meltzer's (and close to some of the suggestions tossed around in this thread) it's closer to being a real HOF IMO. I have no knowledge about that Thesz/Tragos HOF, on the other hand.

Speaking of Jericho on Monday, why is every steel cage match "contested"?
-
Illegal crugs, those are the worst kind. Wasn't sure whether to mention this here or the Linda thread (probably related) but WWE removed Neidhart's page from their "Where Are They Now" section.

Yeah, I got reminded of Hogan's positivity of Jericho after that match elsewhere, so I understand the inclusion.

Part of the official description says: So I don't get how others aren't interviewed. Heck, his old VHS tape had others being interviewed. That said, the extras could've been better. A lot of repeated stuff from other DVDs, some understandable (the HBK WM19 match, for example), others I don't get (Angle from NWO 2000, Hogan from Smackdown). The early rarer stuff is part of the selling point for me, though. I also wish there were more promos, particularly from WCW. I'll judge the doc when I see it, as it's tough to tell from the chapters listing how good it'll be. I'm still looking forward to it, but not as much as, say, the RAW 93-94 4-disc set that's out next week.

John's Hal Chase post is awesome. Only thing that might top it is discussing how Tiger Woods went from stale babyface who was very successful consistently in tournaments to cheating, dishonest heel who's average at best now. The game may have gone down, but the character is much more interesting, so the turn was needed.

WM6 got a LOT of coverage in the newspapers up here in Canada at the time. It was a very big deal. Obviously most was on Hogan-Warrior, but I recall in the sports section some photos of other non-Hogan-Warrior matches, plus they even had listed results. I don't recall WM18 getting near the coverage that WM6 got.

I love Bret plugging merch after all the ragging on Martha and endearment of Owen. I look forward to the eventual episode of RAW where Shawn Michaels makes a "one-night only!" return, DX does a segment plugging merch, only for Bret to show up...to show 'em how to REALLY shill merch.

Yeah, I didn't care much for the Steamboat/Striker commentary on all three matches they're used for. Steamboat spent much time keeping kayfabe about various topics. Interestingly enough, I think Striker at times was trying to open things up more by bringing up some more "controversial" subjects (political stuff, which guys weren't as good as he hoped, etc.). The '84 match is probably worth checking out, but I echo Al's thoughts that it didn't blow me away. Solid match overall, and due to the rareness of it, it's a worthy addition. Don't go in expecting your most dynamic Steamboat-Flair match though.

I disagree with Meltz about Martha doing this tying into Linda's campaign. I doubt Martha genuinely doesn't give two pins about that. I see possible reasoning behind her doing this over a lack of royalties or with Owen on the cover of the Hart Family one. Even though it's a DVD with a Hart Family promotion (as opposed to a particular member of the family) one can easily argue that Owen's very clear appearance on it is a selling point. Also, Bix, the Benoit DVD you may recall was discontinued (with all commercial stores ordered not to sell it) immediately after the murder-suicide. Only other stuff he's appeared on since was the SummerSlam Anthology and, as learned today, that Elimination Chamber DVD that's coming out. I'm not sure what royalties stuff like that would give Benoit's estate.

Yeah, this link seems to cover that, although her attorney DOES say she's trying to stop them from using Owen images: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl..._wrvqgD9GGGD600

The 90s Stars DVD they released last year had a chapter specifically for him, which, yes, covers his passing as well.
-
He should've put millions in retirement funds like Flair did.
-
To add what Bix said, in the match: Obama was played by Deon Davis (of EWA-CWA). Hillary was played by Lexie Fyfe (of SHIMMER). The Clinton impersonator was the same guy they've used several times before.

http://toddwmartin.blogspot.com/2008/04/raw-report_21.html For this, his comments weren't terrible or anything.

You might be the only person. I was at the show last night, and it got a tremendous reaction from the crowd. Of course, a lot of the audience has changed and probably wouldn't remember the Tazz angle that was like 10 years ago.

In reply to ResEvil's statement that El-P quoted in the last post: I don't want kids. My girlfriend doesn't want kids, probably even less so than me. Perhaps there are studies out there that might indicate that more women want kids than don't want kids. Or maybe it's the other way around. The bottom line is that you can't generalize either way. That's what the rest of us are trying to say.
-
Any sources, studies, links, etc. to back this up? I mean, I think that's a completely stupid and, as Herodes said, incredibly creepy statement, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and see if you can prove yourself.

From Todd's RAW report: Umm, what?!

I think you actually saw examples of Austin as a heel in the stuff that he did with Double Chris, not just in the ring but also some of the backstage stuff. I recall one promo where he was told he'd have to face one of them again, which was after facing them on the prior show. He's sore, wore down and wondering what the hell the promotion is doing to him. His commentary during the Benoit-Angle cage match was excellent as well in nailing the heel character. I would have scratched the Angle comedy entirely. I enjoyed the Vince-Austin "hug" stuff at the time because they'd already screwed up nailing the heel turn perfectly and I simply was looking for anything entertaining out of it by that point. But I would have skipped it as well. I don't think pairing him with Vince at Mania and immediately after was a bad idea: Vince was over as a heel. The two of them pairing up to screw over Rock made sense. It's the Trip stuff, and yet another feud with Taker so quickly (rather than building towards it) were the biggest mistakes. John Yeah, I dug paranoid heel Austin who's afraid that his time has passed and the promotion is turning towards others. Austin hugging Vince stuff made a lot of sense when you take that into account. Angle comedy, specifically the music playing, is something I would've scrapped too. But the Angle feud itself was fine, since Angle was the guy Austin was afraid would be overtaking him. Stuff like the milk truck wasn't a bad plot device as far as a reminder to what Austin was in the past, both to him and to the audience. Perhaps Angle could've gone over at SummerSlam. But paranoid Austin doing whatever he possibly could to get disqualified is something you'd expect. Agreed that the first two months or so after Mania until Quad Tear No. 1 sucked, though. After that, some good stuff, but it was likely too late.
-
The ladder match was released on the Ladder Match set, as well as the RR Anthology, both of which were just before Benoit's murder suicide. I don't know if the quad tear match ever got a full release. They did a Best of 2001 release, but I never saw the DVD version, so I don't know if it's in full (televised full anyway). Oddly enough, HHH of course references it in his last DVD release (produced just after the Benoit murder suicide) and even gets to say, "Steve and I were wrestling Benoit and Jericho" complete with clip of Benoit and Jericho.
-
I used to have the VHS version of that set, which had the HHH intros, but the matches were clipped. It always amused me how HHH led up to his big WM18 title win by never once mentioning who his opponent was.
