  1. Loss, thanks for your lengthy review. It trumps everything else I've read about the show this morning. I'm certainly interested at taking a look at the DVD when it comes out now.
  2. I don't think THAT would stop him from getting the same push he's been getting. Gotta go something worse, I think...
  3. "I can beat anyone, either male, female, animal, vegitable, or mineral." -- Stan Lane introducing Jim Cornette: "Ladies & Gentelman, the man who tought Pee Wee Herman everything he knows, Jim Cornette!" Jim Cornette introducing Stan Lane: "Ladies & Gentelman, the man who tought William Kennedy Smith everything he knows about dating, Sweet Stan Lane!" -- "The Judge wont allow Pee Wee to defend himself and Pee Wee knows for sure that he can get himself off." -- Jim Cornette -- "He's so big he makes a beeping noise when he walks backwords." -- "Eventually, even a blind squirell will find an acorn." -- "Thats where he had the word "Goodyear" dermabrased off." -- Jim Cornette on Dusty Rhode's birthmark
  4. I really liked the Road Warriors DVD that the WWE just released. Does that count?
  5. To me, that's an interesting match choice because I would've preferred their match at SummerSlam 98. Also would've rather had the Bret-Taker match at One Night Only as opposed to their SummerSlam 97 match.
  6. Actually, Meltz mentions the pricy tickets as the main reason it hasn't sold out. I sure as hell wouldn't go paying that price. I had an opportunity to buy Rolling Stones tickets in advance for $300 last week and turned THAT down. ECW for $400? Nuh-uh.
  7. He did. His match with Jericho is just a one-shot deal for him.
  8. To be honest, I doubt they'll focus too much attention on them. The show's supposed to be a throwback to ECW anyway, so whatever the workers are doing today (so long as it doesn't hurt any feuds or storylines they're working with) really doesn't have the same effect. It's kind of like the gimmick battle royal at WrestleMania X-7, where they had things like Nikolai Volkoff play a commie heel again. Things like these are done for nostalgia purposes. Although, really, they should've had Dean Malenko work with Eddy Guerrero and maybe book Benoit versus Tazz if Tazz is healthy enough to work one more match. Makes far more sense from a history perspective to do Guerrero-Malenko if, like Tazz, Malenko can go one more time.
  9. There's a lot to be said about what makes Angle overhyped, but his biggest problem in matches is something he's had since Day 1 in the WWF: They all resemble video game wrestling matches, particularly when he's on offense. It's almost move-move-move-move with no real connection between those moves. I just watched WrestleMania 21 the other day, and Shawn Michaels did a far better job than Angle of making the match flow nicely between moves than Angle did. There's other things wrong with Angle's matches, like his inconsistent selling and how his matches come across like he has an unfocused gameplan (which kind of ties in to the point above), but the above paragraph is my main gripe about the guy.
  10. I think they sell Powerslam here in one of the Chapters locations in my town. I might be able to check out that interview first-hand. In the meantime, aye.
  11. Los Conquistadors probably should've received more attention as far as the Tag Team of the Year award goes, but sadly, the rubes were sucked in by the garbage style of a team like the Dudleys. It's really sad, since Los Conquistadors wrestled a far more sophisticated style and the WWF ran more on the Dudleys and Hardys. Look where it got them too, as the tag division (both of them) is pretty dead right now, and that style of wrestling really hurt them in the long run. What really disappoints me is how that team disappeared. If you're going to break up the team or get rid of them, then do something with those guys in singles competition. Personally, I don't know about you, but Uno had the look of at least an upper-midcarder, Intercontinental champ worker. Dos probably needed a little more seasoning, and an ability to work the crowd more, but you can't argue with his in-ring work as a whole. Then again, due to these guys ability to work such a unique style, they probably got blacklisted for not being able to work "WWF Style" (whatever the fuck that is...).
  12. Yep, I do. IIRC, they even had suggestions of names with some of the silliest ones I've ever heard, like "Puppies and Nuggets" or something along those lines...
  13. Funny. I just watched Owen/DBS vs. Austin/HBK from RAW in 1997 last night, and it blows away anything those other two teams did in the promotion.
  14. I recommend you check out some Eddy Guerrero matches of the past 1-2 years, STAT.
