So you don't think that a team like the Harts or the Rougeaus could have been plugged into the Southern Style and been successful? They certainly would ahve had a lot more time to develop an understanding of how to work that style, and probably had much more creative control as to how to execute it. Conversely, would the MX or the R&R have looked as good being forced to wrestle in the WWF during the Harts/Rougeaus era? Do I think the Hart Foundation and the Rougeaus would have had better matches if they had been in Crockett? Yes. Do I think there is any evidence to believe they were as good as the Midnights or the RnR's? Absolutely not Why is that? They had all the elements and produced good to great work in what you would call a very limiting environment.

I think considering his experience level, Mizark was good in 98.
-
I get why they did it. Just from a story point of view it made no sense.
-
I think they would be. If a dude is almost the fastest man alive wearing a bag of rocks he should be the fastest not weighed down.

Until he got injured in the Spring. The nWo just kinda wilted away. I liked that it was the Horsemen that ended up finishing them for good.

What made the Hart Foundation great was versatility. They could play any role you needed them to and do it well. They could be heels, faces or tweeners at any time. They could play bully heels or chicken shit heels depending on the need. They were great at face in peril. Bret could sell like he was dieing then Neidhart comes in like a bull elephant running over everything in his path. Beyond that they had a bunch of cool double teams and I thought a cool gimmick/look in general. I loved their face era promos, with Neidhart getting worked up and Bret having to cool him down. Or the heel promos with Jimmy Hart. They seemed like they were having fun all the time. Like Demolition I think the only reason the Harts greatness is even debatable is because they worked in the WWF. Put them in Mid South, Memphis or Crockett and there would be no debate. They would clearly be the best since they would not have the limitations of working in the WWF. The only liability the Hart Foundation had (In particular Bret) was if it was not a big show they would dog it.

Really? I've seen more than a few in the last two months. They had a six man vs the Varsity Club in 89. Matches with the Powers of Pain thru out 88. Usually they just killed guys in seconds on TBS but they had the occasional competitive match.
-
Demolition style wise were more like the Andersons/Assassins than the Road Warriors. While they rarely headlined they were the number three face act in the WWF right being Hogan and Warrior. Their match with Andre and Haku was the second most pushed match at Wrestlemania 6. They were certainly more successful in the WWF than the Road Warriors were. Also I think the Road Warriors were a really good team on work alone. By 87/88 when they worked competitive matches they were very good. Hawk was great at selling when the opportunity arose.

I think he was. Flair was definitely pissed. Tony loves the old Crockett wrestlers so seeing them piss on the heart of that era must have pissed him off. Especially since Flair never got revenge. Luger and Sting joining the Wolfpac pissed me off at the time and annoys me now. There was no logic to it. Just shitting on the previous year. In an issue of PWI they explained it as best they could. That Lex joined and Sting followed because he felt he owed him for the year in the rafters. Really I think Luger should of betrayed Sting after Starrcade 97. He had real motivation to betray Sting. From Sting walking out on him during War Games 96 to the year of silence and finally losing the WCW title to Hogan so shortly after he finally won it.

"Macho Madness: The Randy Savage Ultimate Collection"
Victator replied to stunning_grover's topic in Megathread archive
Closer to 200-350k. WCW thought it was worth it to appease Randy and have the Slim Jim connection. He only worked like once as Lanny didnt think he could wrestle to the standards of the time. Accounts differ but it is thought Randy bought the rights to the name of "Gorgeous George" for Lanny to use originally. Lanny said he wanted to work. But they never called him up. He would sometime call and ask if they had anything for him. He was a talented performer they could of founds something for him. -
I would not say Taz was squashed by HHH He got a decent amount of offense in. It was still really stupid ECW allowed their World Title to be treated like that. But if it was a normal WWF title match I would say he made a respectable showing.

Was thinking about it and as a team Demolition had much better offense than the Road Warriors. Demos had the Decapitator, The assisted Stun Gun, and The Stun Gun/Clothesline combo. The double team clubber always looked great. The thing with the Doomsday Device was it only looked as good as the guy who took it. Sometimes it would look nasty and other times not weak but not too impressive. The Grave Digger always looked good and their version of the Hart Attack looked ugly in a good way. Now the Powers of Pain blew both of them away in offense. The Warlord had some nice looking suplexes and backbreakers. Barbarian had the Big Boot but not as many throws as he did during the Faces of Fear era. As I said a few pages back they had a load of sweet double teams. A clothesline/vertical suplex, Hart Attack, Powerslam/Flying Headbutt, A Flying headbutt Decapitator. Hell they even had a finisher with Uncle Ivan in six man tags. Going on offense the Steiners and Bulldogs don't have shit on Warlord and Barbarian.

I found a DDP vs PG-13 match from Nitro. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xj7qzy_pg13vsddp_sport Nobody got squashed better than PG-13. They made it spectacular so it was "PG-13 were squashed by Diamond Dallas Page" instead of "Diamond Dallas Page squashed PG-13." There is a Rick Steiner vs PG-13 match from the week before but I can't find the episode online beyond torrents. Crowbar looked really spectacular in that match. From that dive to the floor to that crazy Lionsault. Which looked dangerous for Crowbar and PG-13. David Flair tried his best. But he looked like a mid tier TBS jobber various Varsity Club members would maul.

"I know I made bad movies but its not like I ever tied someone up and forced them to watch em, and I could because I'm a big guy and I'm good with knots." Yes exactly. Kind of the point. Or "This game sucks its not even as good as Megaman 2." Really you can't look at their outfit and guess. vs Spike and Mikey, ECWvs Rock & Roll Express, USWA vs Road Warriors, WWF vs Jerry Lawler & Brian Christopher, USWA vs Shawn Venom and Bobby Bolton, USWA vs the Dudley Boyz, ECW Thanks

Didn't Graham get a second run in 81?
-
Had a really good match with Barry Windham at the end of 88.
-
Could someone compile a list of links to PG-13 matches available online?

Actually Demolition looks like they are going to do more than just beat you up. Though LOL at fake looking offense. Obviously never seen the Decapitator or assisted stun gun.
-
Why? Firstly, that's a lot of name-calling for no good reason. Secondly, you're basically saying that we're not allowed to have our own personal tastes and preferences here. Like I said before, I just personally found that Demolition didn't look nearly as intimidating as those other guys you mentioned. Part of it was their body shape, part of it was the wacky bondage-style leather gear, part of it was the KISS ripoff makeup. But just because those guys are all dressed kinda-sorta similarly doesn't mean that they're identical clones. You're acting like they were all exactly the same, when that's not the case. No they are not exactly the same. But the idea "Oh these guys in black with face paint look ridiculous, not like these guys in black and face paint." is asinine. Its like thinking spheres are stupid not like awesome circles. "Oh Bane's not so tough. Superman could beat him up."
-
And the idea is ridiculous. I mean if you thought the same of the Roadies and Powers Of Pain too I would think you're a joyless ass. But isolating Demolition is fucking asinine.
-
The idea the gimmick is laughable is stupid. You can see Randy Culley working the Detroit Demolition gimmick in Continental and it does not look out of place at all. About Harlem Heat. Watched some Heat matches months back and what I found surprising was Stevie Ray was a pretty smart worker. Not really good but he knew when to sell and when to go on offense more than Booker did. Booker pretty much wanted to do his stuff the second he got in the ring. Check out the Windhams vs Heat match from Fall Brawl 99. Its a decent enough match but anytime Booker was in the ring before the finish it went down because he would bust out some sort of big spot when he the Windhams were suppose to be getting heat.
-
Sure Demolition was a much better team.
-
Oh that's a load of shit. It takes far more skill to do more with the basics than a bunch of fancy garbage. this boils down to vs

I know the Steiners still have their fans, but do that many people really go to bat for the Bulldogs and HF as "best ever" type teams anymore? I honestly don't know. I've certainly never seen anything that even borders on being a compelling case for either team. In fact I think the Smothers/Guido FBI was better than both of those teams by a fair margin I've defended them on other forums. The Hart Foundation at their peak were one of the best teams ever. I can get into it more later.

No place else for him to go in the shape he was in, IMO. Didn't Vince fire him for not dressing in company-mandated attire while travelling? Verne brought him in because (a) they were desperate to have name talent on their cards and he was that (along with Bob Orton, Tommy Rich and Dick Slater, who came in during that time period, as I recall), and ( Verne knew what he could do from past experience during his two kick-ass years in the AWA from 1980-82. Adonis was clearly unhappy he was in the AWA at that time, though. Some of his promos are so sarcastic that it doesn't even pretend to hide the contempt for some of the towns he's been booked in. Adonis getting fired is probably second only to the Savage Situation on the list of things nobody ever provided a clear answer to. From reading between the lines it comes off like he hated the Adorable gimmick (maybe even that it was punishment for his increasing weight gain), and the dress code violation was just a cover to fire a guy who was unhappy. Considering it was right after WMIII, I always assumed he told them to go fuck themselves after he got his big payday. I found his only WWF appearance after Wrestlemania 3. Seemed like they were setting up a feud with Brutus Beefcake. It did seem like Vince was burying him on commentary.
