  1. I also think from his WCW return on he was pretty underrated. Even by 99 he could have good matches with Rey Mysterio or Goldberg and work them differently. I saw his match with Muta from Starrcade and what is left is really good. Some great selling of his leg being injured. I think its better than Sting/Muta from the same show. I don't want it to sound like I'm shitting on Sting. He is one of my all time favorites. I just thought him and Luger make an interesting comparison since they have different strengths while leading very similar career paths.
  2. It feels like a bigger deal. But Sting is too inexperienced at the time to go 45 minutes. After that they did not have another match as good as the Flair/Luger matches from 90. Or the GAB 88 match which felt like a really big deal.
  3. Luger had better matches with Flair and Pillman. The only great match Sting had with Flair was the first Clash and Luger/Flair from the Bash was at worst on the same level.
  4. I watched the match where the Gladiators lost to the Mulkeys. What impressed me was Gary Royal and George South for that brief moment did a perfect job aping the Road Warriors. They really seemed like ass kickers. Giving them War Machine was a nice touch.
  5. See I don't think Sting was more consistent. Sting was more impressive athletically and if he was in with the right guy he could be amazing. But I think in default mode Lex was better. I don't think Sting passed by Luger til 92 and that was more Lex slipping than anything else. Though I would rather watch Sting. He is one of those rare guys I would rather watch him in a shitty match than other guys good ones.
  6. Yeah Starrcade 94.
  7. You mean he beat up the person who has attacked him on numerous occasions unprovoked, including costing him the WWF championship days before? How is that misogyny? Simple. A man beating a woman is misogyny. So Sherri was guilty of misandry?
  8. Sting/Avalanche is really good. I think Sting/Meng at the 95 Bash is one of his best matches period. I wish Luger had wrestled Vader in 90 or 91.
  9. Yeah, Col Debeers ripped it off by accident at an AWA taping.
  10. He injured it in a car wreck. Tried to return too soon and it had to be amputated. The fact he worked at all after that is impressive.
  11. Going best vs best who was better, Sting or Lex Luger? I think Sting had more charisma and had more going on athletically. But Lex was a smarter work guy who was more consistent. I don't think Lex ever had a series of matches quite at the level of the best Sting vs Vader matches.

  13. It feels like Cena has become a bit character in this. I'm more interested in a Vince/Punk feud than I am a Cena/Punk match. I was hoping Punk would request his own action figure. Then demanding an LJN action figure.
  14. Yeah was watching him in a tag with Gordy and was wondering if he ever was involved in any notable matches.
  15. I know he was Gordy's nephew.
  16. Watching AJPW episodes from 93. What are the opinions on Richard Slinger?
  17. Thanks man, that fucking ruled. I can picture the Alabama Junior Heavyweight Championship belt being found in some hillbilly's barn during an episode of American Pickers. Was Gary Royal related to NWA Jr. Heavyweight Champion Nelson Royal? I don't think so. Nelson Royal turns up on TV occasionally. Gary Royal reminds me of the sad saga of Destroyer. He started as the Super Destroyer. A masked wrestler from the notorious West Coast wrestling leagues. They hype his debut thru out the show. Things seem amiss when he gets put with Tony Stuber. Stuber was this really big jobber. Big enough he would get offense in against the Horsemen. Destroyer has difficulty putting away Stuber. Even locks on an extended Cobra Clutch. Then Stuber gets the pin on a power slam. He gets so excited he forgets to do a promo. So the next week he is Super Destroyer teaming with Larry Zybysco vs the Road Warriors. The Roadies beat up Larry for a few minutes. Larry tags out goes "Fuck it" and walks out. Leaving Super Destroyer to be killed. By his next appearance he is now Destroyer with no pretense of mattering.
  18. Here is the squash against Mike Jackson and Gary Royal. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xiisf2_ji...a-2-13-88_sport
  19. The great lost NWA team is the Jive Tones, Tiger Conway Jr and Shaska Watley. They did not have many non squashes on TBS but I look forward to seeing them on these NWA episodes. They did this brutal looking Double Russian Legsweep for a finisher. One match they hit Mike Jackson with a Double Facebuster like the SST used then picked him up and hit the Russian Legsweep in one motion. They would wear top hats and bowties so as a kid I thought they were somehow related to the Fantastics. Really entertaining promos too.

  21. I enjoyed Muta in 2000 WCW. He was not having good matches but he was very entertaining personality. I liked some of his stuff with Sting that year.
  22. Vader's point was that the match was over exposed to each market. Fans in Bloatsburg were less likely to order Summerslam because they saw the match and Vader lost clean. They also did stuff like jobbing out Vader on house shows to Warrior and Ahmed Johnson.
