That was a pretty solid show top to bottom, and damn did the main event make me wish someone would invent a time machine so we could see Dragon vs Dragon.

He clearly leans in to the Germanic ubermensch stuff, but what makes me not want to give any benefits of the doubt is Lemmy fan and Iron Cross enthusiast Triple H being in charge now. Like Vince would have done something un-subtle like name him Nazi McNaziface but Uncle Paul is slicker than that.

Everyone (including the entirety of WWE) seems to have acknowledged the problem with Bray Wyatt was how limiting the gimmick was when it came time to have a match. If anything this match made it clear this isn't going to be the case with the new Wyatts*. *except it seems for Nikki Cross, she seems to be portrayed as actually her gimmick not just someone embracing the symbolism of the others.

Jones had that "green but good" energy in NXT before he got hurt, but he's been out for so long you wonder how much of an effect that will have.

Once again I must point out how great Big E is on these kickoff shows.

They've done a pretty good job up and down the card making every match at least somewhat interesting. Even Bayley/Nia has the subtext of if Tiffy is going to cash in on the winner or not.

The segment on Smackdown seemed pretty clear they see Logan as the heel who won't even get cheered in his hometown. I think it's pretty clear LA Knight is winning, and I'd wager it's probably going to be the opener to kick the show off on a high note.

The only thing I don't like about it is they added title vs career after Bryan had been going around for months saying this was his last year as a full time wrestler. To me it kind of lessens the impact of the stip when in essence he's fighting for the right to be a part timer. A better way would have been after he got some losses like he did, state the next time he loses a big match his career is over like how Ric Flair did leading up to the HBK mania match. That way there's still some intrigue where you'd be like "well it probably is time for him to retire but would he want to make a whole stadium full of people unhappy? " Really loving the Mariah/Toni stuff, with Mariah looking very respectful as a heel and Toni losing what little grip she had on sanity. I assume with her classic movie deal they are going to go full Whatever Happened to Baby Jane with her. Hangman might have the most interesting character arc going right now, since it was pretty fucked up that the fans cheered for Swerve when he was breaking into his house and terrorizing his baby.

Also I'm starting to dig the Kris Stat/Big Stoke heel pairing.

I don't like how they constantly build up Thea Hail only to lose the big one yet again. Maybe it's just residual PTSD from all those years of WWE killing babyfaces, but she's too young to get Lex Luger'ed this quickly in her career.
