  1. I really hope WWE still isn't hell bent on having shows with real crowds in July like they were prior to all this. But I'm pretty sure they are.
  2. How much could it possibly cost to re sign Eric Young and EC3? Can't imagine they're commanding top dollar after those banging WWE runs.
  3. Sami hasn't really shown himself to be a complete piece of shit* like Elgin either, so having to choose between the two wouldn't have been a tough call. Also Tessa has been going to San Diego to do photo shoots so the whole "Oh I can't leave Mexico to work" kinda makes me suspect perhaps she was developing a case of jobberitis. Plus not even wanting to do promos is weaksauce when the entire world is using Zoom or whatnot to video conference these days. Having said that, it's maximum LOLTNAIMPACT for them to book her in a title defense in July when he deal ended on June 30th. She was entirely within her rights to tell them to fuck off if she felt the need to, and considering Anthem cancelled her other gig (that Women of Wrestling show) when they took over AXS she probably felt the need to. Plus it sure hasn't gone unnoticed that they stood by her when all the bullying and racism stories dropped (and even made her champ in the middle of it all), only to end up getting surprised that the scorpion will in fact still sting you regardless. *Yes there was the whole "accidentally hitting a dude with a bat for real" thing, but I think we can all agree it was in fact an accident even if he acted like a dick about it online to keep in character.
  4. I wonder if the wrestlers will be allowed to keep their gimmicks, or have to basically start over from scratch building their name back up. Also it seems like there were stories about Quack forever varying from the usual asshole promoter stories to ones that seemed to suggest that maybe he was probably a d-bag in real life. FWIW, the worst I thought was that he was a serial adulterer....as in between consenting adults and not someone pressured into a relationship due to the balance of power. As far as the company itself, it seems like it ended for all intents and purposes when they did the shutdown angle. Their comeback seemed to me like the post 1993 version of the NWA, it just wasn't the same to me at least.
  5. She hasn't always been on the best of terms with Tully, plus she managed to asshole herself out of gigs in WWE and Impact so I think AEW will pass. I saw it summed up best that any company would absolutely want to have Tessa the wrestler but none of them would want to deal with Tessa the person.
  6. That's nothing, the subtitle for Extreme Rules this year appears to be THE HORROR SHOW. Waiting for Summerslam's tagline to be KILLER VIRUS next.
  7. Bryan Alvarez just tweeted that "Whatever you've heard, it's worse" in regards to the amount of people testing positive in WWE right now. I
  8. I may be misremembering things, but I seem to recall there were stories about Stacy back when she was an on screen character (a manager) having run ins with folks and not being the easiest person to deal with. I don't know if she was married to Jim yet, but people at the time were commenting on what we would probably now call "Karen" type behavior. I tend to think along the same lines as @The Thread Killer here where it's entirely possible she was playing her own games with these guys and Jim didn't know about it. If they have an open relationship where they're cool with the other having sex with other people as long as both parties know its going on, it seems reasonable to think that was what he assumed was going on and not anything else.
  9. Also it should be mentioned that while older people are most likely to die from covid, younger healthier people are still getting fucked up by it pretty bad even if they are surviving it. The long term damage it does to the lungs is some nasty stuff.
  10. Somehow the idea the the elderly would be the most compromised turned into them being the ONLY ones who could be compromised, which boggles my mind. Everyone seemingly understands how colds and flus work, that older and immunocompromised people were at higher risk, yet large swaths of the population turned into some weird anti-vaxxer offshoot. It's especially worrisome to me since I am a diabetic and my son has had respiratory issues in the past so these idiots are just making things worse for people like us.
  11. Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, and Zelina Vega posted pics from last weekend of them out at a bar/restaurant celebrating Billie's birthday. Shawn Spears, Alistar Black, and Tyler Breeze could be seen in the background and no one appears to have been wearing masks or social distancing. So as much as we want to vilify the companies running shows, the talent does not seem to be taking this seriously at all either.
  12. Also I guess Hunter's Magic COVID killing spray didn't work either.
  13. Also WWE is irresponsible as fuck. Renee has been involved in segments the last few Smackdowns with AJ and Bryan. It would really suck if Bryan was exposed since he has a baby on the way.
  14. Well that explains why Moxley stayed away from TV tonight.
  15. Page rules. "They're good. I'm still gonna whip their ass. But they're good"
  16. Having a Lumberjack Match in the middle of a rising covid spike probably wasn't the best idea, but like Good Brother KawadaSmile says it's BIG MEN SLAPPIN MEAT time.
  17. Bix mentioned when he was working for Deadspin they had liability insurance on their writers so they could write the stories they wanted to without fear of being sued over it (assuming what they wrote was factual of course). Since most journalists are freelancers now, most don't have that luxury and have to weight the possibility of being tied up in court forever when writing something. Obligatory I Am Not A Lawyer, but I think retweeting is different than posting original material. I could be wrong though.
  18. Wrestling journalism is a tricky thing. Most people doing it don't have the legal protection to touch something like that without fear of getting sued over it, and you have someone like Dave who will not mention anything about allegations unless it results in charges or someone quitting/getting fired. Right or wrong, when the people who should be getting the word out either can't or won't do so, it only helps the abusers.
  19. Honestly it was worse, and probably considerably worse, in the 80s and 90s. Heavy drug use is less common than it was back then, and it was pretty close to impossible for victims to come forward and risk the wrath of daring to tarnish the local heroes. I mean, we've pretty much all forgotten what a scandal it was when Art Barr plead guilty to rape of a 19 year old in 1989, didn't stop everyone from praising him as one of the best ever who died too young.
  20. So something similar is going on with folks in the gaming/streaming world now and a lot of guys were outed as abusers. I happen to follow one of the women who was dating one of the creeps in question and she mentioned even though her ex publicly admitted the accusations against him were true, and when she came forward with her story she still had people in her mentions all "where's your proof". Even when the guy in question fully copped to what he did, people still demand a fully annotated document from the woman in order to consider believing it.
  21. When cases explode even more when baseball spring training starts up next week, the whole state might end up getting shut down anyway.
  22. That was probably the most screenshotted thread in the history of message boards (at least wrestling related ones) so I'm not shocked someone still has them and put 2 and 2 together.
  23. Yes, seeing Tenta go from "wtf is wrong with you" to "are we really going to do this" to finally "alright motherfucker, it's on" was great, especially when Kitao seems to realize perhaps he made a mistake
  24. So this got posted on YouTube yesterday, and it's the first time I ever got to see it after decades of hearing about it. From what I can tell, Kitao seems mad at something (some old sumo beef? Tenta coming in as a bigger star in his home turf?) and just decides to stop cooperating. Tenta can be clearly heard yelling at him variations of "what the fuck", but the funny part is no one is going to take him down if he doesn't want to be taken down so he just stuffs him. Kitao throws what appears to be a shoot kick at the ref to get DQ'd, and the video (that appears to be from a commercial release) stops before the part that made this really well known: Kitao got on the house mic and said pro wrestling is fake and that's the only way Tenta could beat him. He ended up getting fired from SWS for that one. I always wondered if there was anything more to it other than Kitao just being the surly bastard he tended to always be. It was just such a random thing for him to just start no selling Tenta Anyway, if you've never seen it here you go:
  25. It is odd since it can easily come off as them mocking it if you don't know their beliefs.
