WWE TV 06/01 - 06/07 Hiding in my bunker to avoid the collapse of civilization
sek69 replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
For younger folks I would imagine that could be the case, but Vince came of age right when MLK was doing all the stuff you'd expect he would very much not like. It's what makes it even more head scratching for me, it's not like he only knows of an idealized version of the man. He would have been very aware of what he stood for in real time. -

By all accounts Vince legit idolizes MLK, but is also best pals with Trump. I don't think the entire psychiatric profession could unravel the enigma that is Vince McMahon. -

Tammy Sytch out here showing her entire ass on Twitter, and not in an OnlyFans way. -

Looking back at Taker's reactions to people upset at what he's wearing, I think we have to consider the possibility he legit thinks it's just run of the mill rah-rah "support the troops, MURICA" stuff with no other context. -

Yeah, I don't want to speak for the admins but the intent of the PWO Rule was always to avoid hot button topic that only drag things down (religion/abortion/guns, etc), and it's hard to avoid Real World Topics when the US is on fire and wrestlers are making public statements on it. LIke KO said, Gunner fought for his right to have wrong opinions so no argument from me there, but his co-workers also have the right to call him on it. -

Ali dragged him too, dude just pissed off a lot of his co workers to win points with racists. Hope it was worth it to him. -

Yeah it's not that his viewpoints were not known before, it's the fact he could look around at everything that's going on and feel it's a good time to show his love for His President. -

Said POTUS made a speech threatening to send the US military to shoot citizens protesting, which is illegal, around the time this piece of shit made his tweet. -
Honestly I'm fairly certain the only reason they don't do that is either it's too expensive to keep them around full time like Brock or the old guys they would want to do that with can't physically do a full time schedule.

Yeah, but he also lets a lot of shit heads get time on his podcast too so I'm not gonna buy "I was just working" as an excuse here.

Old out of touch owner holding on to stars of the past past their expiration date? Sounds more like the AWA to me honestly.
-
This. Folks marrying outside their "people" tend to get shit from all sites over it, but that was the most Stephlike way to do address it.

WWE has banned the buckle bomb, and while I normally think banning moves is unnecessary if everyone is doing it properly, I don't mind it in this case.
-
It's great seeing all the WWE folks posting their support of people protesting injustice, but I can't imagine the mental gymnastics involved in working for the guy who's BFF is stoking the flames further.
-
It's okay guys, WWE posted on their website that hospital tests showed Jeff wasn't drunk so that totally makes it okay.

Makes me wonder how much of his dislike of current wrestling/wrestling fans come from them not worshiping at the altar of kayfabe like his generation did. How dare people enjoy the show in a different way than he did.

The ESPN doc on Flair is pretty much the definitive word, anything WWE did would pretty much just be a retread of the same stuff for the most part. A Hogan one actually covering his entire career would be interesting, but it would fly in the face of WWE Canon that Vince created Hulkamania by himself, so I don't know if t would be worth the effort. The Undertaker doc is them catching lightning in a bottle, the one guy who never opened up and publicly breaking character doing so for a full length doc is not something easily reproduced.
-
Did they ever promise that? I only recall them promising to listen to the fans and be an alternative to people not interested and/or turned off by what WWE was offering.

You know, it occurred to me Brian Cage is the Scott Steiner of this era, extremely muscled dude who does things someone that jacked has no business doing.

This whole thing is basically the company tantrum-ing at the Mania match being shit on.
-
They did the throw-into-the-stairs spot and apparently Kairi caught the point of the stairs head on and got busted open bad enough they had to stop to clean it up. Now it's certainly possible it was just a freak accident, "shit happens" moment. WWE does that spot so many times it would stand the law of averages would catch up eventually. Of course considering the folks involved, there's no reason to give Nia the benefit of any doubts.

I'm sure people still have to sell Vince on women in the company the same way today. I'd be willing to bet that's why he doesn't see Shayna as a star or why he missed out on Bayley so bad. If Vince doesn't want to fuck you, you can't be a star. The only way women who don't confirm to Vince's ideal can be stars is if they are big monsters.
