I made the comment because Cornette is an unabashed disliker of Trump but acts exactly like him when upset. Had nothing to do with your comment, was in response to Thread Killer's comment on how Jim reacts the same way to politics he doesn't like as he does with wrestling. I can see how my Mauro crack could be seen as a cheap shot, but it was meant as a way to illustrate diagnosing mental illness over the internet isn't exactly something that flies anymore (not that it ever should have, but I digress). Unless you were trying to infer he had some sort of physical illness and I misread your intentions.

AEW is adding a second show soon so they will be able to feature more of the middle card guys on a more consistent basis. Rey would be a good fit as the mentor role he's kind of doing now.
-
Especially coming from the board's #1 Mauro fan to boot. You can say a lot about Corny, but mentally ill is not one of them unless you're going to call being stuck in his own ways to a self-parodying degree a mental illness now (which it is not). It is pretty funny he has such a hatred for Trump, yet he reacts pretty much the same way when presented with someone or something he doesn't like. Someone should point that out to him one day and see if his head explodes.

AEW didn't fully exist when Rey re signed, at the time they wanted to keep him from AAA where he had been on some of their bigger shows.

I have no doubt this was true, at least for a while, but he's seemed to have crossed into full "worked into a shoot" territory. He seems extremely (for lack of a better fitting word) triggered by Dave constantly pointing out that he's no better than the old guard in previous generations who claimed the new era are killing the business with their flippy stuff only for them to be considered legendary by that era's fans. It boils down to Dave saying "you may not like it, but it draws money so in business terms it has just as much merit as the stuff you liked" and Jim getting disproportionately angry over it.

Suspending Rey seems like a good way to have him appear on the next AAA show if not elsewhere.

He got a concussion on Raw a couple weeks back. We're apparently at a point now where newz sites will turn any injury into a "Is this a Wellness Failure".
-
It's one thing to work a gimmick, it's another to seemingly torch long time real life friendships over having an IRL Prinicipal Skinner "No, it's the children who are wrong" moment.
-
This seems to be the root issue here. I'd bet Cornette was convinced AEW would fail since it's all the people he hates coming together to form a promotion. The fact that it not only didn't fail but was able to turn into a profitable business ahead of schedule seems to have hurt him on a psychological level. Seeing something that so encapsulates what he dislikes being accepted on a national level appears to turn in to him internalizing it as wrestling fans giving him the finger personally.

IIRC Fantasma had a legit job in Mexico so he might have been trying up loose ends before getting started in the US.

*Starts to write a post against this* *Sees Roman is slated to face Bray at Mania this year* Yes. Goldberg vs Roman please.
-
At this point Wellness failures seem limited to NXT and midcard guys unless someone gets Jeff Hardy levels of messed up and they have to address it.
-
I think Rey has the magic "no wellness tests despite having my career revitalized by senzu beans from dragon ball" card, since the whole reason they brought him back was to keep him from other companies. I don't see them risking him telling them to fuck off and leave over a test failure.
-
LOL @ Becky with the IRL "deal with it" glasses.
-
This match seems kinda...spicy. They both seem to be laying it in pretty stiff.
-
Pretty telling they kicked this off on Raw and not NXT, guess they're waving the white flag on beating AEW?
-
I'm happy Andrade's wellness adventures won't deprive us of Zelina Vega.
-
He always reminded me of Arn Anderson in the sense if you just assumed the dude was born looking old.
-
If they can make it to Mania without doing something stupid (admittedly a big if), they'll have something big when Drew beats Brock.

I'm of the opinion Brady might see this as the proper time to retire since A: he has nothing else to prove at this point and B: there's a clear shift happening where the new era of QBs (Mahomes, Jackson, maybe even Jimmy G too) is making their presence known. Mahomes seems to have that special "I'm going to win the game right now and you can't do a damn thing about it" aura that the greats have, and I doubt Brady wants to spend his twilight years getting schooled by the youngin's.

I doubt Shane will get an executive position. He very well might end up doing a backstage type gig laying out matches like he did for the Rumble but I don't see someone as legendarily insecure as Hunter allowing Shane to get any real power back.

They do that here in Pittsburgh too, Stage AE is a small concert venue located between the two stadiums here and it's not ideal for wrestling. I suppose it's the best place for the size they can run in around here. I'm thinking I might go to the second night where they crown the new champion since it will be here. FWIW I went to the website for the venue and found ticket info there rather than on the ROH site. They won't be on sale until 2/7 so maybe it will be on the ROH site then.

If it was WWE, I would totally expect that, but at this point AEW has built up enough goodwill to not automatically expect the worst possible option as the most likely one.
-
You would think with Sinclair apparently willing to open the checkbook a little more freely now they wouldn't need to run those scams anymore, but I supposes carnies gotta carny. Also they announced the Pure title is coming back. So that's something. Not sure how well that's going to work with the whole "Pure wrestling rules" not nearly as unique as it was before but they're trying.

To be fair, it was pretty sloppy of Braun to be giving guys shoot knees to the face. I get the feeling if it was anyone other than Brock on the receiving end he would have got the Brie Bella treatment over it from the online fans. Braun also absolutely got kneecapped by never getting the big win when he was really hot (either as a heel or face), since they were always building up someone else at the time. The fact that winning the IC belt was his first singles title illustrates how much he was squandered.
