WWE TV 01/14 - 01/20 Bolsonarism is taking us to the Middle Ages

I thought it was because she talked shit about the Bellas. -
Does she not know that rumors of wanting a release will only help your career in the current climate? Her response to all this seems odd.

Shortening the name was a bonus in Andrade's case, but it's just yet another weird Vince quirk. -
I suppose that's a way to read it, but since WWE pays for rehab why not take advantage of it? It's not like he was in the middle of a career making push he couldn't afford to walk away from. I could maybe understand not wanting WWE to know he had a problem, but they announced he was clean so that cat was out of the bag. It just seems like a dangerous way to handle a possible life threatening issue. Don't forget the teary-eyed Steph interviews about those monsters in WCW trying to run her daddy out of business and put her family on the streets. When someone came along and kicked Vince's ass (which make no mistake, WCW was doing for years before the wheels fell off) they lost all sense of irony.

Not really, seeing as how he's literally always been like this. We just haven't seen it for a while since there hasn't been a competition for so long. His MO has always been scortched earth against anyone he views as a threat. She isn't exactly denying anything. Did anyone say WWE wasn't supportive? Seems like she's building a lot of strawmen to knock down. Also she seems to be arguing that they weren't off TV due to Mike being away in rehab but......just going to each town and doing nothing while he was doing some sort of outpatient rehab? Okay then. Not only does that sound like not the best way to do rehab, it also makes it seem like WWE was just making them work pointless house shows when Mike should have been focusing on getting clean.

I get the impression Dolph is kind of done with wrestling, I could see him doing something else when his deal is up. He just gives every impression of a guy who's mentally checked out every time he's on screen these days.

So they did the big reveal of Mortal Kombat 11 today, and one of the big news stories coming out of it was that Ronda Rousey will be voicing longtime MK character Sonya Blade. I was curious what the reaction would be in the gaming world, so I went to one of the sites I normally visit for game news. So far nearly all the comments on the announcement were some varation of "I'm less interested in the game now because this trash person is involved". So apparently the Ronda Rehab Experiment still has a ways to go.

I know people hate it when someone says a person was good in TNA, but Maria was good in TNA as the asshole boss of the knockouts who bullied around Allie until she snapped.
-
The story was it was after that match when they asked for their release. It does seem like WWE is in full "we better start doing stuff with these talented guys we're wasting because they'll have a place to go to soon" mode, as seen with the renewed push for Andrade Cien... uhh... ANDRADE.

He can't even get on TV in WWE unless it's as Random Geek #45 in a backstage skit. If he was on TV jobbing every week in AEW even that would be an improvment. Just saying there's ways to better utilize guys than WWE does without having to push them ahead of everyone else on the roster like Impact did. That's probably what I'm looking forward to the most with AEW. They've stated the goal is to let guys do their own thing and see if anything catches fire.
-
The problem with Impact especially was not so much accepting everyone from WWE, but by pushing nearly every former WWE guy as better than their own talent. They constantly made their homegrown/non WWE guys look like geeks. Zack Ryder doing Zack Ryder level things in AEW would be fine. If he comes in challenging for their title on day one that would be peak Impact.

Bix made a comment about the thumbnail like "Alexa's bare back = views", and it made me think that clip probably disappointed anyone Googling "Alexa Bliss + bare back" . -
They've been working an angle with the Bucks on Twitter for while, and a few weeks ago one of the Bucks and one of the Revival (I forget which one from each team) tweeted to mark their words that they would face each other at some point. I hope they do go, WWE clearly doesn't fit with the old school territory style tag team work they excel at. I have a feeling they might end up being one of those "how did they let THOSE guys go to the competition' types.

Penta and Fenix were mainly working for AAA (LU sister promotion) and Impact (who they have a working agreement with). Not sure how MLW works into all that other than they were publically stating they were open to work with anyone. Most likely all their dates were signed off by Dorian since he's the one who decides who stays and goes. Also they probably want to do whatever they can to keep Penta/Fenix happy since they know they'll get snapped up by someone else the second they get a full release.

Best part was Xavier Woods' exper timing popping his jacket open to reveal his THE MAN shirt. Also Becky's happy go lucky steampunk theme doesn't fit with her new gimmick. It's like having Stone Cold come out to pop music. -

I can only imagine Vince's thoughts the first time he saw Otis in person. -

The clip WWE uploaded to YouTube (featuring Alexa covering herself up as a thumbnail) managed to get over 2.3 million views, just barely behind the clip of Braun flipping over the limo. So as tone deaf as it was, there's clearly an audience for it. -

If I was a betting man, I'd wager Lashley was a guy signed by WWE just so no one else could have him (especially considering how he was getting over in Impact). I would be surprised if there were ever any plans for him before they decided to pair him up with Lio. -

It's because he's 42 and Vince has a phobia of putting anyone he considers "old" in positions of importance. -
Not surprising considering CMLL is (the somtimes forgotten) part of the ROH/NJPW alliance. It would appear that the play now is to lock anyone in those three groups to exclusive deals in each country. I wonder if this will put an end to AAA guys appearing in CMLL as well. Also MLW is pretty much boned here. Guys are either going to get scooped up by AEW or get signed to deals limiting what companies that can work for going forward.
-
So something more AEW related I noticed..... When word started to spread that there was a member of the wrestling media working for AEW, nearly everyone jumped on guys with obvious connections and/or possible conflicts of interest with great fury. Then it came out the person in question was Chris Harrington, who's the Bobby Eaton of wrestling media in terms of everyone liking him and no one having any negative opinions about him. Everyone was happy for him, and as far as I've seen no one has questioned it. Now, that's not to say anything untoward happened, I just finished listening to the last (for now) episode of Wrestlenomics where he stated once he was offered the gig he made sure to steer clear of discussing anything that would give the impression that there was any conflict of interest. Mookie's as clean as it comes and deserves all the love/success he gets. However it's clear a LOT of people were chomping at the bit hoping they had some justification for the hate boners they held for other people in the field.

Probably important to note that WWE announced they are switching streaming providers from Disney/MLBAM to the company UFC uses for FIght Pass. They did announce some aquisitions to make it sound like they are beefing up their infrastructure, but everyone who has Fight Pass seems to think this is a step down in quality. Interestingly, the WWE announcement mentioned how this partnership will allow them to add new features going forward. Kind of implying that the reason WWE Network has had shit interface/searching options all this time was limits on the server end. Seems odd considering all the other companies that use it, but maybe WWE opted for the discount package when they first built the network and are stuck with it. Either way, it seems like another sign that WWE Network 2.0 (whatever they end up calling it) is coming sooner than later.

Basically since his wife died JR's been more or less self medicating, it's understandable due to the circumstances and it's hard to point it out without sounding like an asshole. There's been times on his Twitter feed where it seems like he's a different person (he doesn't seem like the type of guy who would have a social media intern posting on his accounts either) well as his falls recently where he's injured himself. It's one of those deals where everyone kind of references it indirectly and is all "y'know it's been rough for JR lately" type stuff.
-
Solie was known for being in "no condition to perform" on more than one occasion, compairing him to JR is more than apt.
-
JR's recent performances have been more like 90s WCW Solie unfortunately.
