People hated Cole because he was doing exactly what Vince wanted an announcer to do. We got glimpses of Cole's real personality when he did voiceover work for those old WWF shows that had no commentary like the Shea Stadium show and he was nerding out about old wrestling. Now that Vince is no longer in his ear he's free to let his fandom show.

You are correct, I was just speaking in a general "both guys got their hearts fucked with due to COVID" sense. Both guys got sick, both had scares where it might not have looked good for a moment, and then ended up getting better. SRS mentioned as recent as two weeks ago there were preliminary plans for his comeback being kicked around. He was getting set for his big Keith Lee return moment.....and then this.

So it looks like the issue that kept him out was Covid that caused heart issues, sounds similar to what happened to Keith Lee only with a less desirable ending. Bray wasn't to everyone's tastes but he was clearly very passionate in what he did and had an impressively devoted fanbase. Plus by all accounts Windham Rotunda was a generally good dude who had young kids, which makes this all the more awful.
