Wrestling thoughts that probably don't deserve
sek69 replied to Coffey's topic in NMB Wrestling Archive
When WWE 24/7 launched here, the updates to our VOD system kinda didn't work (they found out when they tried to do the content update for this week and all sorts of hilarity ensued). They're putting in a fix tonight and now I can finally watch SummerSlam 96. -
.........And his excuse of "well look at her, I can't help it" when called on it.

Considering other discussions on Vince's attitudes towards women and other general creepyness, it's pretty disturbing that Kane's been a rapist twice (didn't HHH accuse him of raping Katie Vick?) and ended up the face both times. Bonus points for the "make Trish bark like a dog in her underwear" stuff as well.

Nothing will top the interview with Melanie Pillman on my personal WWE-Disgust-O-Meter. At least Vince waited longer than a day to put Vicky on TV.

There seems to be a ratio where the more smarkish someone is, the less perception they seem to have. I remember people snickering when Stacey was being told by B and C listers on "Dancing" that wrestling was beneath her, not realizing that being known for pro wrestling puts you on the Z list. I mean, yeah Vince's behavior paints all of wrestling fans in a bad light to the mainstream and you can argue that it's not fair, but the fact remains that in Hollywood working as a third banana on a formulaic sitcom is higher up the food chain than being the leggy broad on the pro wrestling show. -

Isn't Batista married to a woman battling cancer? -
From the latest WO update: Looks like they're doing the usual route of pretending that the WCW runs of guys they feature in DVDs barely existed, but this is probably going to be worth whatever they charge for it just for the Piper's Pit segments.

Calling it the most disgusting thing EVER covers a lot of ground, but it's certainly the most unnecessary heel turn. There's no need to get widowed wives involved in storylines.

I think it was both really, the wrestling was bad but the old guys had more personality than the youngin's. -

So I emailed Meltzer the other day, I had a question about the subscription I just sent away for. He answered back quickly, as he's known to do, but I couldn't help but notice he must be the last person in the known world to use a Juno.com email account. -

I caved in to temptation today and subscribed to the Observer, so I guess I'll have all the HAWT NOOZ now. -

Man, I'm already getting greedy with WWE 24/7. There's some stuff that's listed but not available yet (it's only been up 2 full days, still some bugs to be worked out I'm sure), so SummerSlam 96 and World Tour 91 are just mocking me on the menu right now..... -

I wonder, was this what they were leading to with HBK constantly wondering who the father was (hinting that it was HHH), with the OMG SWERVE~! being that it was Vince? -
Disagreeing with what you are saying is not acting O'Neill-ish. No, but acting like you can't see what the other person is saying tends to be. You seem to think that all the complaints about ROH fans are either a conspiracy against ROH or just from a bunch of thin-skinned haters who don't get that ROH is the bestest promotion ever and the fans are just a bunch of fun loving folks enjoying themselves and would never put themselves over the action in the ring.

I for one, am not surprised he'd suggest it, I AM suprised that no one in the DVD end of the company (doesn't Shane run that?) would say to Vince "hey, you know, maybe we shouldn't have you saying you wanted to impregnate your daughter on a DVD that's being distributed worldwide". -
I know Vince wanted to job out everyone his dad pushed as soon as he got control of the WWF, but I'm watching a 1984 houseshow and seeing Rocky Johnson jobbing to Nicolai Volkoff. It was like one step above a jobber match, and this is a guy who was half of the WWF tag team champions barely a year earlier. What shocked me is how quickly his skills seemed to go downhill. Not that he was ever a great worker, but he got shockingly bad real fast. I guess it's a chicken and egg thing: did he get depushed because he got terrible in the ring, or did he stop giving a shit in the ring because of his rapid depush?

I for one was very surprised that they didn't make Steph's wedding a PPV event. Or the birth of her child, for that matter. -
I could have sworn that it was Dave O'Neil the last time I saw that username around here, which is why I thought Loss would blow a gasket since he was already "dealt with". My bad. In my defense, Bob is acting pretty O'Neil-ish here by not seeming to get why people find ROH fans so annoying at times. Truly it is an insult to call someone Dave O'Neil when they aren't. My apologies. Also, Coey, was my mistake really that jarring to drag you out of hiding (haven't seen you around anywhere forever)?

My point was HHH had more than a little bit of a role in HBK staying as a main eventer and Jericho being on some celebrity singing show on FOX instead of in WWE.
-
Speaking of HBK, was that SummerSlam 96 where he threw a hissy in the match with Vader? If so, it's available on WWE 24/7 and I wonder if it's edited out....

Heh come on, tonight's 3 Way Dance was a literal LOL moment. Anti-Hardcore Mick Foley back in ECW would be the best thing ever.

I love how some folks act the only options one has when attending a wrestling show is to either act like a douche who wants to be part of the show or to sit quietly and clap for highspots/finishes. How about acting like how wrestling fans acted from the dawn of time up to about 2000 or so, enjoying the show and not spending the whole time trying to get yourself/your sign/your chant over with the crowd. I'm just sad ROH doesn't have TV, can you imagine how funny it would be watching a show where the entire crowd was facing the Big Screen seeing if their *wink* *wink* insider referencing sign made it on TV?
-
Wrestling fans pay money to enjoy the show. ROH fans pay money to get themselves over and become part of the show, usually at the expense of the actual wrestling going on in front of them. Everyone's glossing over the fact that not only did these tards chant F bombs at kids, they turned their back on the match in the ring to do it. The irony of course is that they felt the kids were being disrespectful by not reacting to the match in the Approved Manner and ended up ignoring the match themselves in order to chastise the little rapscallions.
-
Maybe you don't see the problem because you're one of the fans everyone else has a problem with? Just sayin, anyone who doesn't understand why ROH fans get on everyone's nerves is either being intentionally dense or is one of the annoying ROH fans themselves.

It might vary from week to week, but SD was depleted, RAW has become the McMahon and DX Show, and Impact tries to cram as much as they can in one hour. ECW has been the most consistent show of the last few weeks, and if that offends your sensibilities, too bad.
