Seriously, stop trying to be so snobbish sounding. It's getting ridiculous that anyone who speaks positively (or even neutrally) gets dogpiled as a moron who should be mocked. You only need to look at my past posts to see I'm not a cheerleader for WWE. When they do stupid shit, I call them on it. I thought SNME was a Perfectly Acceptible Wrestling Show and I don't really appriciate getting called a retard who takes it up the ass for liking it.
-
I like how the net will explain what the show's purpose really was.
-
Come the fuck on, the net expects every WWE show to be nothing but straight wrestling with no sportz entertainment or angle advancement. It's not accpeting mediocrity, it's having realistic expectations. I don't watch a screwball comedy movie expecting to see an Oscar winning performance, and I don't walk out bitching when I don't see one.
-
Yes, cause we all know WWE is devoted to filling their shows with as much wrestling as possible. I swear some people sound like they were expecting to see "ROH Saturday Night's Main Event".
-
Yeah, there's going to be a lot of bragging by the anti WWE squad over that rating despite the fact it was up against the NCAA basketball tournament which is arguably the biggest sporting event in the US after the Super Bowl.
-
I hate when people say "everyone who likes X is stupid". You don't like something? Fine. Call me stupid because I like something you don't? Fuck you I say. That "if you don't like the exact same things I do, then your opinion isn't valid" attitude is exactly how smarks got their reputation. It's not fair to single out RRR when he's hardly alone in this.

SNME was pretty much an infomercial to get people to buy WM. Since that ship's sailed with pretty much everyone here, I can see how it could be boring to watch them sell you a PPV you've already said no to.
-
I'd hate to have the Talent Relations or whatever the fuck the offical name for JR's old job is. No matter what, everyone's going to hate you since you're the guy who has to tell someone they just got shitcanned. You'd eventually end up in a position of having to fire someone you're friends with.

C'mon, anyone not liking tonight's show is really just looking for a reason to bitch. Those opening promos were awesome, I could just imagine the late 80s graphic logos for each guy behind them. It was a good "this is where we left off" nod to people who haven't watched since the last SNME before they moved into the modern style open. And SNME has always been about angle advancement for the next PPV, which usually was Wrestlemania. The SNME format was always one good match for the workrate fans and pretty much everything else was angle advancement and/or Sportz Entertainment Moments. Austin and JBL drinking beer was more entertaining than Mene Gene and Lord Alfred going on a safari.

I always wondered, what happened when Dennis Condrey left the NWA? He seemed to fall off the face of the earth until he ended up in the AWA with Randy Rose.

This discussion about ECW not aging well makes me wonder how ROH will be looked at in 2016. Especially considering that with the exception of Samoa Joe, a lot of ROH's top stars tend to look a lot....different when working outside of the promotion. It's looking more and more that the only difference is that Gabe doesn't have the hard on about getting on TV and PPV that Paul E. did, and who's to say that Heyman would have pushed so hard if he had a more established DVD market like ROH has. I know DVDs were around in 1996, but ECW fans weren't exactly the type to be early adopters.
-
I don't like it when mommy and daddy fight.... Having said that, I agree that ECW doesn't really age well, but I think a lot of it has to do with WCW and especially WWF/E killing the "hardcore" aspect with zillions of matches featuring jobbers hitting each other with obviously gimmicked weapons. Watching ECW now, it doesn't seem like anything special. It's like watching the Jumping Bomb Angels doing powerbombs in 1985 WWF, it's no big deal now but that shit was revolutionary at the time.

Wow, people were giving it star ratings? I've only heard people call it one of if not the best Rumble match, which I'd agree with. I don't understand how you could assign stars to a battle royale, no matter what your snowflake critera may be.
-
I don't think you can really rate a Royal Rumble match the same way you'd rate a regular wrestling match. As battle royales go, Rumble 92 is one of the best. As a wrestling match, it's not going to compare with a singles or tag match.

I'm surprised you would say that, I've always thought it was one of the few Rumbles that wasn't the usual "boring as shit till the final sequence" routine. I just happened to watch it again last night and the sequence between Flair and Piper is just awesome, and Jake just makes it even more awesomer by sliding in the ring and then sitting back in the corner so they can continue beating the shit out of each other. It definately had its slow points where there was too much jobberage clogging up the ring (and Warlord being sold as a credible threat to win even with #30 was a LOL-worthy moment), but you really can't avoid that when you book 30 guys in a hour+ match.

I was always under the impression that when he came back in 1993, he wanted to be booked like it was still the mid 80s (not doing jobs for anyone) and Vince just got tired of dealing with it. The way he went out, getting practically squashed by Yokozuna and jobbing to a leg drop of all moves, suggested that Vince was trying to make a point.
-
The first thing that came to mind is that 1992 WWF probably is what finalized Vince's big man/sports entertainment mindset. One of their best years workwise was one of the worst finanically, and we know which one is more important to Vince. It was probably killing him when he had to push the smaller guys after the whole trial mess.

It's now being said that Shannon has been offered a contract from TNA and WWE, but hasn't offically signed either yet. This could be the most hilarious bidding war ever.

Rico's out of the business now, and they have talked to Chuck Palumbo. -

I don't think Vince would take Stacy leaving that personally. I think they're just offering Test a deal since they think TNA looks at talent the same way they do and Test must be someone they're looking to sign. -
Also, I would be remiss if I didn't mention TNA is looking into the logistics of having a War Games match at the all-cage Lockdown PPV.

TNA's new timeslot will now be 11pm Thursday rather than the previously announced prime time slot. This is probably good news since the 9pm slot had Impact running before UFC rather than after, which would have really hurt their ratings. Anything that gets them out of Saturday Night Hell would be a good thing. Raven has stabilized at 280 pounds, his undisclosed medical problem that caused him to take leave from TNA is that his thyroid is shot from his years of drug abuse. If you missed the last PPV, Scott Steiner is now sporting a chest tattoo that has a sword piercing a heart. Unfortunately, from a distance it knd of looks like a giant penis. TNAwrestling posted this newsbit, apparently Eric Young of Team Canada almost died recently: Impact Spoilers for the next two weeks:

TNA is owned by an energy company. If their finances become tight, there'll be bigger problems than pro wrestling.
-
I like how Vince put the word out to sign everyone TNA is interested in, and all they've done is sign Moore and a bunch of guys TNA didn't even have interest in. I chuckle at the thought of Vince in a classic Bond Villan pose thinking that signing Shannon will hurt TNA in any form whatsoever.
-
If WWE cared about the Cruisers, I'd say this was a good move since they have an angle with him and Helms just begging to play out. Unfortunately, this was probably nothing more than a thumb in the eye to TNA and Moore will be jobbing on internet Velocity in 3 months.
