It's not really that interesting of a story, he was annoying the piss out of people backstage and they don't want to have him following everyone around begging to come out of the closest on an episode of Impact. He's acting like this "first openly gay wrestler" idea is a gold mine and can't figure out why TNA or Spike wouldn't want the chants that you know wrestling fans would come up with at such a character.

From what I've seen in OVW he isn't *that* bad, he's the type of guy that back in the 80s would have been a perfect tag wrestler, but these days he might be hosed since WWE sees tag team wrestling as an annoyance.

Domino can't seem to figure out if he's doing a 50s gimmick or an Andrew Dice Clay gimmick.

Harry told a story in his shoot interview how he talked to Vince at his father's funeral and Vince told him then he had a job in the WWE whenever he wanted it. The only thing Vince wanted was that Harry complete his education first. He told Vince he wanted to get experience around the world before starting with WWE so he would be more well rounded, advice he said came from Chris Benoit.

Harry Smith and TJ Wilson were pretty kick ass as the Stampede Bulldogs. TJ, Nattie, Harry. I just have a soft spot for Nattie for 3 main reasons: 1. Her dad was one of my favorites when I was a kid. 2. According to that book on Stampede wrestling, she was the one who was taking care of Stu when he was on his deathbed. 3. How cool would it be to see a Dungeon trained female wrestler whomping some WWE Divas

Apparently this Guther/Gunner Scott guy is Brent Albright from OVW finally getting his callup. I don't know what the deal is with giving him such a stupid name, but the guy can go so if he's paired with Benoit only awesomeness can result. I'm guessing Orton was there since his match with Rey was hyped before whatever happened to get him suspended. I'm guessing he'll have some off camera altercation before next week to explain his 60 day vacation.

Orton was at the SD tapings and was announced as wrestling next week as well, so who knows.

TJ and Harry grew up together and he's dating Nattie.

Yeah but when they took the handcuffs off Rocky, he ended up becoming one of their biggest stars and draws ever. You'd think they'd remember that now. Hell, Rock's said that part of the motivation behind the Rock character was him being legit pissed at the fans booing him as a face.

Someone over at DVDVR made a throwaway comment about the Akeem The African Dream gimmick being a rib on Dusty. Is that true? I remember being stunned even as a kid at the blatant racism of making a white guy a jive talking African, but looking back damned if he isn't doing a dead-on Dusty impression. Considering the whole "Virgil" thing, why did Dusty do a run with the WWF? That reminds me of another question, I happened to notice while watching the "DiBiase buys Sapphire" angle that Dusty suddenly dropped the polka dots and came to the ring with his old NWA tights with the "DR" script. Did they drop the polka dot gimmick when she left?

The opening segment of RAW was everything that's wrong with WWE booking. You have the supposed babyface champ getting booed again, so they tease the tweener route only to have him keep up the "I'm gonna be the good guy no matter what" routine. Then HHH and Edge come out and get into a promo battle while the WWE Champion of the World is off to the side with his dick in his hands. Not to mention Edge was allowed to get more shots on HHH in that one promo than Cena was during the whole build to WM. Why wasn't Cena the one pointing out HHH acts like he owns the place (which of course would make the smarts wet their pants) and be the one who calls him out on always asking and getting title matches? Then to top it all off, the Champ agrees to a 2 on 1 match. What is it about championship gold in WWE that makes people stupid? It made no sense for him to agree to the match other than it being required for HHH to lay him out at the end of the show. It's like they're making extra effort to make him look like a dumb ass as much as they can. Cena should be the guy with a huge chip on his shoulder sticking his belt in the faces of the haters, instead he's the goober burying himself in his own promos ("even I was surprised I won").

I'd say 25% might be right for the people who read WWE.com and maybe check out a few of the markish message boards. People who know HHH's real name but think that him and Steph are still divorced because that's what the storyline was. I'd stick at around 10% tops for the limousine-ridin', dirtsheet-buyin', Observer Live-listenin', tape-collectin' sonsaguns like us.

As a percentage of the WWE fanbase, you're looking at 10% tops.

Yeah, that's the sort of flip-flop that ensures the company will never be booking for the Internet. They should never book for the Internet anyway. Booking for a small subset of the crowd was one of the millions of problems WCW had.

A thread I'm posting in over at Smarkschoice reminded me of all the confusion surrounding the Big Gold Belt and how despite what a lot of people think, the NWA and WCW World Titles are actually two separate entities. I thought I'd make a thread explaining the admittedly messy lineage of the two titles for easy reference the next time you run across someone who thinks they're the same thing. First off, the backstory. Turner bought Jim Crockett Promotions in 1988 and soon started rebranding it as World Championship Wrestling. At this time WCW was still a member of the National Wrestling Alliance, albeit pretty much the only member of any substance left at that point. 1991 is where the mess starts, when Ric Flair faced off with Tatsumi Fujinami in the WCW/NJPW Supershow in Tokyo. Fujinami wins the match and the NWA title, but Flair was still the WCW champion. This marked the first time there was separate champions. Flair would reunify the belts two months later, but it was a sign of things to come. When Ric Flair left for the WWF, he was stripped of the WCW title on 7/1/91, but he wasn't stripped of the NWA title until 9/8/91 (which was a mere 2 days before his WWF debut). On 7/14/91 Lex Luger beat Barry Windham in the infamous Bash 91 fiasco to win the WCW World title, while the NWA World title remained vacant until Masahiro Chono won a tournament in Japan on 8/12/92. Offically, the WCW World title started a new line at this point. What caused the confusion that exists to this day is that in 1993, the NWA and WCW started to work together again, with the NWA World and tag titles being defended on WCW TV. WCW Champion Ric Flair beat NWA Champion Barry Windham on 7/18/93 unifying, for the moment, both belts. The NWA and WCW tag titles were also unified at this point too. Then it happened. WCW quit the NWA in September of 93, vacating NWA titles held by WCW wrestlers. WCW couldn't bill the holder of the Big Gold Belt as the NWA World Champion anymore so we instead got the nonsense of the WCW International Heavyweight Title. While that was going on, the NWA had a tournament to name a new champion, which ended up being Shane Douglas who famously threw down the belt and created ECW. WCW finally "unified" the WCW World and WCW International titles, allowing them to use the Big Gold Belt as the WCW World title again. The NWA ended up finding a champion who wouldn't throw down the belt in Chris Candido, and then gave Dan Severn a 4 year reign as champ that actually saw the NWA grow and add more members than any point in its history. After a year or two of bouncing around the indy circuit, the NWA Board of Directors gave TNA control of the World and tag titles in 2002 and the rest is history. So, to sum things up: 1. The WCW title only existed from 1991 to 2001, unless you want to count the time it was being defended in WWE. 2. The NWA title was the main title in JCP/WCW up until Ric Flair left for the WWF in 1991. 3. The "WCW International Title" was pretty much the boneheaded way WCW came up with to get the Big Gold Belt back as the belt for the WCW Title. 4. None of the above have any link to the current WWE Smackdown World Championship, in fact the whole idea of the WWE using the Big Gold Belt to give it credibility is the same thing WCW did with its world championship (using its prestige as the symbol of the NWA World title). Hopefully that makes things slightly more clear in a topic muddled by typical wrestling politics and carny BS.
