Wow, I figured he would have been a lot older than 77. I heard he was in bad health recently, but it's sad to hear of his passing as he was a big part of my early experiences in wrestling. One thing that article failed to mention (and it's probably his biggest contribution) is him being the guy who brought Andre to the WWF, at least in storyline.

I'd imagine the first Saturday in October would be the first show since WWE's deal ends in September.

Its really funny to read the WWE statement, you can almost hear the Battle Hymn of the Republic in the background, especially towards the end. I love when WWE gets heat for something stupid, it's always because the viewer didn't interpret it properly.
-
That's a fairly ignorant statement. You can argue about his push, but to say Hassan is a horrible wrestler is flat wrong. He's been hamstrung by his gimmick and by being forced to adapt to the WWE "Wrestling For Dummies" style. He's no Benoit to be sure, but he's far from horrible.

It's 5 hours from Philly to Pittsburgh, and about 4 from Pittsburgh to Buffalo. So even with a more direct route you're looking at 6-7 hours.

I can honestly say I'm shocked. I thought nothing short of a dead hooker would get either Hebner (but especially Earl) fired. Then again, they were caught with their hand in the only cookie jar that's increasing in revenue so they should have known what they were messing with. Where does this leave Brian Hebner? It'd be odd to go to work after your dad and uncle got caught pocketing company money.

I started watching wrestling so early (I was about 5) that my mom made sure I knew it was worked so I didn't go to school and try to Cobra Clutch someone on the playground. There was still a time where I didn't know the matches were pre-determined, I just thought it was like any other sport where they were trying to win without really hurting each other. What opened my eyes on that was when I watched AWA TV and someone botched a pinfall in a squash and the ref counted three anyway.

http://wrestling.insidepulse.com/articles/39450 He seemed to be not batshit crazy this time, he must save it for his political speeches these days. I did notice that nothing seems to be his fault, despite his flakiness being one of the most well-documented things in wrestling history. His comments about Hogan are hilarious in the sense that knowing Warrior was in on the joke during his WCW run. Hogan probably thought Warrior was another mark for him to work.

Welcome to the WWE style of thinking. I get what you're saying, but they've been treating SD like shit so it didn't shock me that SNME 2.0 would be RAW only.
-
Why wouldn't it be, it's part of RAW's TV deal after all...
-
I was reading WWE's finanical filings (ever since I took accounting classes, that stuff interests me) and I saw this in the section on the new TV deal: I've seen it mentioned as a hypothetical before, but this is the first thing I've read that confirms it: Saturday Night's Main Event is back!

I'll miss his horribly contrived ref bumps more, how will HHH win a match now that he won't have Earl launching himself in the path of every Irish Whip?
-
I think moving Cena off Smackdown is going to end up being another case of WWE botching a sure thing. His hip-hop gimmick seems so out of place on RAW and you know he's going to be cannon fodder once HHH comes back from his summer vacation. To paraphrase Brando: Cena coulda been somebody, but on RAW he'll end up just a bum.
-
So I guess Nova's a Velocity-only gimmick?

That was pretty cool in a freaky way.... One thing TNA seems to have learned is that production is the key to success, they do a really good job with their promos and packages. "Rhino is here.....more are coming" Think they already have people lined up from the WWE release pile?
-
Anyone else notice everyone seems to be really stressing that HHH's vacation has nothing to do with Hogan, no sir. It's as if all the people who leak info to the sheets got the same memo to stress that point. Also, doesn't it seem that TNA got an even worse deal than ECW did? Paying for their own TV time? They spent all that time ironing out a deal and this is what the result was? BTW, does anyone have a clip or screen cap of the backward messages in the TNA PPV intro?
-
I think they were trying to sell his head injury from when he lost the title, since he was able to keep his balance when they did the spot where he got put in the Tree of Woe.

Man, Philly was the absolutely the worst place to have such a long Diva segment. Those were the loudest "BORING" chants I've heard in years. But these segments are basically Vince shoving his dick in the fans' face so it doesn't matter how loudly the fans turn on these segments.

Not to mention the tired company line of workers being asked to go to creative if they have any ideas for their character. Yeah, do that, and if you end up thinking of something better than creative could you run the risk of getting cut because you rub someone the wrong way.
-
It's been said a million times, but who the fuck thinks this crap like having someone wear antlers would EVER work? I mean, it didn't work the FIRST time they tried it: It's 2005, cartoon gimmicks just don't fly anymore.
-
Perhaps they'd do the old Rick Rude bit where the security team is in full SWAT gear and one of them turns out to be Matt.
-
So basically HHH didn't want to pull the trigger on the Flair turn they always jerk the fans around with, and decided to lose his smile for a couple months. Tremendous.
-
Looks like that pic is from OVW. I don't get why WWE doesn't understand why stuff like the Hardy angle got the pop of the night and Kane vs Snitsky doesn't.
-
ROH fans come off to me like less ignorant versions of ECW mutants, with the whole "every other company is subpar to ours" mentality. It's fine to be a fan of whatever you want but sometimes people who are marks for these small indy promotions lose perspective when it comes to who needs who for business.

This can't be overlooked. Watch tapes of World Class and you'll see that the walkways were so small it looked like they were walking through the crowd. The Von Erichs would almost get stripped naked by the crush of female fans as they walked to the ring. It made them look like the most important people in the universe, and for that moment in that arena, they were. I never understood why WWF/E started keeping the lights on for the whole crowd, having just the ring lit would go light years toward fixing the growing problem of idiots going to WWE shows just to get themselves (or their websites) over.
