I don't get what Batista has up his ass about OVW. They trained him, built him up into a monster, gave him a run with their belt. The WWE made him D-Von's assistant preacher and HHH lackey until finally giving him a main event push. I'm guessing he's just parrotting HHH's opinion, but if Hunter thinks OVW is so shitty why do they still use them to train?

You could say the same of the WWE titles too. No titles in wrestling have the same prestige they used to anymore.
-
Jeff Jarrett still defends the title in other NWA member feds, just because the NWA doesn't have the pull it did in 1983 doesn't mean it's not still the NWA title. If fact, the only title that's exclusive to TNA is the X title.
-
Well the TNA title is still the NWA title, and the NWA has member groups all over the world. Before the board gave TNA exclusivity to the World titles, they were defended all over the world. Any NWA member fed can still request a world title match in their territory, but the ones overseas tend to not get title matches anymore since they want to keep the belt in the member fed that has weekly TV and PPV.

I tend to think either there's truth to the Savage-Stephanie thing or that the people in charge of the WWE (read: HHH) think it's true. He's insane enough that I could see him doing it, and there has to be a reason he's never been back to the WWF/E even in a cameo appearance.

Did Shelton bust Shawn's mouth with that spin kick? It made qute the pop and I didn't see the usual "smack the leg to make the impact sound" move.
-
I liked how HBK looked down at Shelton after the match with a look on his face like "damn, brotha almost beat me". That's the stuff they just don't teach at OVW.

HTM. He was simply the best heel in the company during his IC run. People really wanted to see him get killed.
-
Ted, just because Tully's WWF run was just a run with the Brainbusters that ended in a coke haze.
-
HHH, of course. Rude didn't have the benefit of marrying into the family.
-
I'd have to vote for Rey. Orndorff was pretty much a one feud guy.
-
It seemed like HBK was acting heelish last night, when Shelton was frustrating him by outwrestling him. I know he doesn't want to be a full out heel, but even a tweener role would be better.
-
Shelton/HBK seems to have the inside track for MOTY so far, it was by far the best TV match I've seen in a while, even if the wrong guy went over. Speaking of HBK, I'm surprised they haven't suggested he look into hairplugs before he ends up looking like Dory Funk, Jr.

Consider me a peep now. Christian as been on his game better than anyone in the company as of late.

Tony Shiavone was good during his NWA run, it was really only when WCW was asking him to do the impossible that his work started to suffer. I like Jim Ross's NWA work, but I'm so used to hearing him now that it's very weird to hear him sound "normal", aka pre-Bell's palsy. His voice sounds like a chipmunk, and it's distracting to listen to when you're used to how he sounds now. I think Bob Caudle is one of the most underrated announcers in history. He managed to perfectly complement whoever he was paired up with. Everyone raves over Mike Tenay, but I think that's just because he was teamed up with Shiavone at the height of Tony's "not giving a shit" phase. I find him to be pretty annoying in TNA, somehow managing to sound like a moron and condescending at the same time.

JBL. You can't count Jarrett's IC titles as any indication of anything since he had them during Russomania when everyone got to hold the belt. Jarrett deserves the thrashing he gets, he's horribly bland and overrated, he only got real heat when his gimmick was abusing women. He only has a career still because he has a stranglehold on the NWA title thanks to the Bookerdaddy of TNA. JBL on the other hand was not only a force in the tag ranks, he's really improved his workrate and promo skills in his main event run. Yes he still has a way to go, but to suggest he's still the worker he was a couple years ago is Keithian in its absurdity.

Piper, hands down. The only reason it's even a debate is because a lot of people tend to remember the broke down, brain-fried Piper of current times. In his prime, Piper was far superior to Jericho. He was the rival needed to make Hulk Hogan a superstar. He may have never won more than the IC title, but he didn't need to have a belt to draw a crowd.

Bret, no doubt.

Percy Pringle was outstanding in World Class, you want to talk about taking bumps, he got a runt like Chris Von Erich over since he was the only guy that Chris could face and look credible. He was absolutely handcuffed by his gimmick in the WWF, Paul Bearer is no reflection on the man's talent as a manager.
-
No, but I think he, or some major name, is having to have one. I could have sworn that I read somewhere that one of the times he took off for a back injury was cover for hip surgery. Must have been someone else.
-
Paul Bearer was handcuffed by the gimmick, Percy Pringle was a great manager in World Class. Actually, most managers are made by their gimmick. Downtown Bruno was great as a heel in Memphis, but Harvey Whippleman was a terrible manager in the WWF. It didn't help that most of his charges were jobbers, but his gimmick left no chance of him ever getting over. I'd actually vote for Paul Ellering as the worst manager. The Roadies certainly didn't need a mouthpiece, and they certainly didn't need someone to interfere on their behalf. There was literally no reason for Ellering to be there.
-
Didn't Scott Steiner have a hip replacement as well?
-
I'm partial towards Taker/Kane vs Kronik just for the sheer blownspottedness of it. It's one thing to have a bad match, it's a whole other level to have a bad match where almost everything but the punches were blown so bad it made you turn away in shame and embarrassment.
-
All this suckness begs the question, what is the worst match of all time?
