  4. Harry Smith was supposed to get a tryout at the RAW tapings, and Teddy Hart had a match on the Velocity tapings today. I wonder if WWE is serious about the new generation of Harts, or if this is just more Vince kissing Bret's ass. Especially considering how badly Teddy's last tryout with the E ended. If they are serious, they should look at Nattie Neidhart to help boost the women's division. I'd love to see someone taught by Stu stretching out the diva sluts.
  5. It's just easier to come to terms with the fact that people like SK set the IWC opinon of matches and workers, and anyone who refutes them is a "kook". The man has an almost personal beef with JBL as a main eventer and as such will never give him a fair shake in any match review. His devoted fanbase will eat it up with a spoon, and people will brand JBL a poor worker despite him having 2 or 3 *** to arguably **** afffairs.
  6. I laughed when HHH claimed he retired Kevin Nash in a Hell in a Cell. I'm guessing somewhere in Arizona a beer was thrown at a TV screen. We should have a poll, who's HHH trying to emulate with the 1880s beard: Harley Race or Lemmy from Motorhead? I still don't know what they're doing with the Vis and Lilian angle. Shouldn't a storyline build to, I dunno, an actual MATCH?
  7. Anyone else notice they cut the live crowd out of the HHH interview when they started chanting "boring"?
  8. Considering some real ECW cards, this show doesn't look too bad. I'm wondering, Vince's promo on RAW last week seemed to hint that they might bring ECW back for more than just this PPV, if that's so, how is that possible considering they're probably going to lose Smackdown as it is?
  9. Here's another wrestling urban legend everyone assumes is true I always wondered about: Was David Von Erich really in line for a NWA title run when he died? Everyone assumes Kerry got the belt because David was supposed to have a run, but I don't see how that would have been possible given the NWA storylines unless it was just a one-week type of thing. Also, is it true that Kerry didn't really want to become a wrestler and that Fritz pretty much forced him to after David died?
  10. I was under the impression the end was improvised since everyone thought they just witnessed Pillman get killed.
  11. Who was that?
  12. It should also be mentioned that most of the guys he sent to rehab were offically off the WWE payroll, ensuring the word "former" would appear in any obituaries.
  13. Whats sad is they were pretty much right, since he did end up killing himself right after. At least WWE is consistent, they'd rather avoid bad PR than help a guy.
  14. It's pretty amazing to consider that as much as he's universally praised, Eddy is probably only the second or third most talented member of his family. Chavo especially was doing stuff in the 70s that was completely nuts for the time. Hector was one of the best junior heavyweights of his time, which unfortunately happened to be smack in the middle of the roid era. It's a shame his US run that most people remember is when he held the NWA Jr title under a mask as Lazer Tron.
  15. JJ separated his shoulder in the first Wargames, Paul spiked him with LOD's wrist spikes to cover kayfabe-wise.
  16. Especially since they always book faces to always fall for HHH's traps to make them look stupid. There's absolutely no reason Batista would want to risk his belt and career (kayfabe wise) in HHH's specialty match. By the way, remember when the Cell was Taker's specialty? I wonder how Hunter was able to pull that off considering Take's as protective of his gimmick as Hunter is.
  17. What a shocker, Batista gets a good reaction in his match only to fall victim to Flair Swerve #7098989 and gets a HHH beatdown. I'll say one thing, I mark for Heyman when he gets revved up in promos. What does it say about wrestling when the guy who has the most passion in the fucking business had his joint go bankrupt and is pretty much owned by Vince.
  18. I wonder how many times JBL will surprise people before folks start to realize he's a pretty decent brawler type worker. This has to be at least the third or fourth time everyone pulled a Keith and dismissed a JBL match as garbage only to have it turn out to be a good to excellent match.
  19. Not to derail this topic any moreso than what it already is, I must have details on that. His name was (I think) Lloyd Linsay-Young. He was one of those guy you couldn't tell if he was overly excited or borderline retarded. Any time he went to a satillite map or some other type of advanced technology, he'd punctuate it with a yell of "SCIENCE~!" (like in the Thomas Dolby song). *edit* I found a link , apparently he's working on a radio station in San Fran now. His son started taking over after a while, but my cable company dropped the station so I don't know how long it lasted. I see now WWOR was bought out by Fox's parent company and is now a UPN (??) affilliate. Kinda sad that all the wacky hijinx I grew up watching is probably replaced now with Moesha reruns.
  20. At one point my cable system used to carry WWOR in New York when it was an independent station. That was wild, they'd have this psycho weatherman during their noon news, Howard Stern's old TV show, and in the middle of it all they'd show Mets games.
  21. I'm thinking HHH will never let Flair turn face, since he has to know that people want to see that and in his mind that makes him a bigger heel by keeping Flair his lackey. "I know what you want, and I'm going to deliberately not give it to you" has been HHH's motto for years. If WWE was smart ( I know...) they'd play off the current Star Wars mania and do a mini feud with Flair and Christian as the upstart youngster vs the wizened old master.
  22. How is it that I get WGN here in Pittsburgh but it's not carried in bigger cities?
  23. The thing is, the wrestlers that people would pay to see aren't likely to not be on free TV. The people who are likely to be bumped off free TV aren't going to generate much house show sales.
  24. WWE has viewed Smackdown as the B show for years anyway, moving to Fridays will only cement that belief. I don't get how people think ending the brand split would be a good thing. It would just mean that all you'd see on WWE TV is HHH and Undertaker. I don't see how less TV would make people want to go to house shows to watch people they barely see on TV. The brand split is as close as we have in the US to competiton, having one of them shut down would just make the product even more stale and boring.
  25. I wonder if they'll have Rock come back to bury him in a promo again.
