The Jim Ross Is A Grouchy Hateful Vile Human Being thread
smkelly replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
reading that fake prom link made me embarassed to be part of the human race. I'll probably get heat for this, but my first instinct was "Oh, that's terrible," but then I laughed. It does have an equal mixture of "Wow, this is fucked up," and, "Oh my god, this is hilarious." Things like this are really a dime a dozen to me now, after being in war, and in a state of nature, I am desensitized to these "minute" blimps of imperfection of the human race. -
Wouldn't this number be everyone who watches Raw every Monday?
-
Some problems with that, though.First, Bret losing three PPV matches, which are hotshotting feuds (Razor/Diesel). Let alone Diesel going from World champ to IC champ; which I doubt he'd ever go for, and it would devalue his reign as champion slightly more. Anyway, the IC, from your booking would also be devalued going from HBK, to Owen, then to Razor, and then to Diesel. Razor had just had a program with Bret, and for the big eagle belt, is soundly bested, and now goes after the IC title? I'm presuming that Razor/Kid would beat Owen/Davey? Bret would look weak coming into his title match @ WM, as he has lost matches as World champion against IC and Tag champions. This booking would probably work in TEW, but in reality, not so much. There are too many large egos involved.
-
That Orland Jordan segment was weird, disturbing, and seemed like it should have been in a '90s indie snuff film...oh wait.
-
I think they would have jobbed to them in '95, but after WrestleMania 12 and throughout all of '97, it would have been terrible. I think HBK would have been especially fond of doing the job, that is, if he was guaranteed the strap prior to the iron man match.
-
Oh boo hoo.
-
Regardless, Cena came out looking better; had submitted HBK at WrestleMania 23, and then it took HBK nearly an hour to beat a man known to not work long (30+) matches.
-
His body has obviously changed, especially not long after his return when he was still on the juice. He came back looking somewhat toned up and then suddenly looked awfully plain.Honestly though, I don't think he's changed all that much since coming back. He has had plenty of opportunities to put people over, like Jericho and Morrison/Miz, but has never truly done so. Hell, Jericho took a count out loss to HBK a few weeks back...and he is holding the big gold belt. Shawn Michaels is an asshole. Unless you're a naive teenaged girl; everyone hates assholes because they're an asshole. He may not be as selfish and conceited, let alone hypocritical as he used to be, but he is certainly at a higher level than most are going to allow and still find agreeable. Who has he really put over, though? Superman Cena...the Undertaker...Orton kind of. I'm curious though - how do you know he works harder than most everyone else in the company? Just because his matches are perceived better doesn't mean that he works harder...some people have more natural talent, leeway with the booking sheets, etc.
-
What has Goldberg done to earn his place in the WWF's Hall of Fame? I mean, I was a huge fan of the guy in '98, but that is just absurd.
-
No? Hmm. I seem to remember Dyno continuously bashing his drug/steroid/alcohol addictions.
-
That's one thing I particularly enjoyed about Dynamite's book, same with Jericho, they seemed to be extremely honest about their failures and shortcomings, whereas Bret and Flair make excuses and exaggerate their greatness. The moral of the story is humility.
-
Agreed. I did like the falcon arrow to the floor between Marufuji & KENTA, as I remember Marufuji selling it nicely.
-
Even after watching the Lawler/Race match a second time, I still don't know where to rate it. And, your welcome good sir. By the way, I did review it, in case you missed it. http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?s=&a...t&p=5443324

The high paced spots are cool and all, but at certain times, and with certain people. Ten years ago I would have drooled all over myself for this match, but since I was fourteen I have found other mediums of professional wrestling to satisfy my interests. The main problem with this match was the horrid selling. I mean, an avalanche release German suplex that went nowhere, which was quickly followed up by Davey's finisher and Aries still kicked out. That just screams "overkill All Japan style" to me and Aries/Richards is not Misawa/Kobashi/Kawada.
-
Some (well...me) lost respect for him just reading his book, which happened to be after his return on Jan. 4th. Like the saying goes, "every man has his price."
-
I do accept tips.

I was watching Raw & Impact on Monday, when I fiancee walked in and sat down. She sat there and watched pro wrestling with me, which I think is awesome. The funny part? She has never seen TNA, and asked, "Why are they showing WCW on Spike, didn't the WWF buy them out?" I got a big kick out of that, as she isn't a fan of wrestling and can see how terrible TNA.

I agree with the Orton/Foley match. I loved how Orton and Foley both bumped around like lunatics.

Holy crap. If you have that many, Lynch must have what...20x that?

Whereas it made me appreciate him more. Sure, he's done shitty things, but so has everyone else in the business. Although the whole "my fans", etc. was a bit grating. I disagree with many things Flair has said about Bret, but the "could be the president of his own fan club" bit was right on. Regardless, Bret is still probably my #2 all-time favorite. Considering he has come back to the WWF is a major reason why I feel the way I do about him.Vince & Shawn fucked him without mercy, which he swore he'd never forgive or come back...but low and behold, here he is. The Owen thing too. He thought Vince was responsible, so why would he ever come back? I think he is a sell out like all of the other war horses still limping around.
-
I thought that's what he said. Damn, that was callous of Lawler, although I presume it was screamed in his headset... I'm reading Hart's autobiography, and I can't help but think he is just a huge hypocrite, a liar, and a coward.

Cole was a face again, as expected, last night.

Watched this last night after seeing this post. Where to start... The opening sequence of Indy wrestling needs to be re-invented, as too many matches are following the same long and boring feeling out process. I liked the initial leg work done, but I hated the fact that Davey's selling was abysmal - I mean it was downright terrible. One of the worst no-selling performances I have ever seen after some extensive work had been done. The brainbuster on the ring apron was awesome though, a real holy shit moment. I disliked the avalanche release German suplex spot though, as it lead to nowhere. It didn't help that Aries ate Richards finishing move a few seconds later and still kicked out. By the end of the match I was relieved it was over - that is a horrible thing to feel after a match. Obviously I am not a fan of this match, but I like both guys in the match. For what good they did in this match, it was beaten down by the sheer amount of bad shit they did. *DUD*
