Cool, so this mean each year will eventually get a podcast covering it?

Heh, i'm kinda shocked ppl think this is a, for the lack of a better term, shoot. To me I think there's absolutely 0% chance Brock went thear without Vince knowing and approving it. He's got a WWE contract so to even talk to UFC about any deal without their consent is a breach of it and I half doubt that's what he went thear to do. I mean maybe he did but this whole thing just reaks of publicity stunt to me. Something to get ppl buzzing and further the "hey, maybe he really did quit" angle.

It's funny, in the short time i've been training to wrestle the need to emphasise my size is one of the things my trainers have really tried to drill into my head. I'm 6'2 which isn't super big but on the indies that makes me taller then most so I get a lot of reminders not to "cheat my size", crouch too much, stand up straight, look agressive, stronger, etc... I have but more along the lines of build then height, took someone to an indy show once and they were disapointed no one was in WWE lvl shape.

Brock/Eddie worked perfectly fine.

Toyota & Kyoko have had aproximately 9 billion singles matches, i've seen about 8 of them and this was always hands down my favorite of the bunch. I only remember 1 major botch in the match, those who demand 100% spotless execution on everything will go wah wah about it but it never bothered me and didn't take the match down at all in my eyes. Still never seen this, actually had completely blanked that it even existed until you brought it up just now.

........fuck were you not kidding

Well, for me atleast the above is true. I generally hate UFC/MMA but I went out of my way to watch a lot of Lesnar's fight's and really could care less that he's back in wrestling and actually would prob prefer that he didn't come back at all.

Eh, you've gotta look really close to notice it, I watched it 3 times before I did. JJ's 55 yrs old at this point, can't blame him for not layin it in. Thought it sucked JJ just laid thear and didn't react but the head shaking's never bothered me. Well, he didn't exactly get a lot of height but he left the ground for em. I thought they looked fine all things considered.

Watch this. If you linked that as an example of Hogan looking sloppy or poorly executing stuff i'm not seeing it. Dillon took a C- lvl bump and didn't sell worth a damn but Hogan was fine on his end. I've seen plenty of examples of shitty Hogan execution but yeah, this wasn't one.

Can anyone give me the dates of all the previous CM Punk vs Daniel Bryan matches in WWE besides the most recent one.

There has to be a smarter, less labored way to make a cross reference. I'm re-thinking it. Hmmm, would something like the match finder on Cubsfan's site be hard to set up? http://www.thecubsfan.com/cmll/roster/matchfinder.php (great resource for finding matches btw if no one's ever used it, especially the option to easily see which matches are available on youtube)

Well yeah, my basic point really just boils down to it not being necesary but helping a lot. Heh, it's not that hard. Joshi's it's own thing but it's not THAT diffrent then other styles of wrestling. Like OJ said in the "joshi for ppl that don't like joshi" thread, the easiest way is just to dive in and start watching until you start to pick up on how things work. In regards to this specific match, while there is a lot of history, there's only maybe 4 or 5 essential matches that make up the bulk of the Hokuto/Kandori backstory so not a ton to cover if you were inclined to.

Beforehand, that's why everyone is paired up the way they are. Sakie vs Fukuoka = young future aces Kyoko vs Ozaki = energetic enforcers on their teams Takako vs Cuty = bitchy idols Aja vs Kansai = monster aces

So what happened to the yearbook index sub forum? Kinda amusing it got put up with no explanation, Loss made a billion threads for the wrestlers, then it got deleted with no explanation which I didn't even notice until today
-
Eh, not knowing Japanese isn't really an issue but I do think ppl would get a lot more out of matches like these if they watched more of the stuff leading up to it to get a better idea of who the ppl involved are, what is and isn't important that they do and why. This particular match is the blow off of a year + long angle between Hokuto & Kandori + has the added subtext of all the history between Hokuto/Aja, Hokuto/Bull and Aja/Bull. You absolutely can still enjoy this match going in cold as it's quite great as a stand alone affair, but yeah, even better when you know the backstory.

Nope it really was, pretty much near universally loved period for the company until the Hogan era really kicked in.

Guess i'm alone on this one here but I have no problem with Clay as a worker, not sure what ppl want out of the guy but I thought him vs Miz was a perfectly fine fun 4 min match.
-
Hmm, you guys should really check out the 2 part Warrior podcast on MLW radio from a week or 2 ago, lot of interesting stuff thear.

I think Tenryu just didn't want to do one so they cut that part out There's a lot of Tenryu vs Onita 6 & 8 man death match tags in 99 that are really awesome (so hopefully will make the yearbook), and there's a few more in the early & mid 00's but Tenryu doesn't take very many major bumps in those either.
-
Yeah, that basicly sums up the Onita style death match philosophy, especially for singles. What they do to fill time changes depending upon the opponent (which is prob why the Hayabusa or Funk matches feel diffrent) but the foundation is all about teasing a handfull of big bumps into the wire/cage and then selling the shit out of them when they do happen.

For IWE I remember thinking Strong Kobayashi vs Don Leo Jonathon from sometime in 72 was really good.
-
Piledrivers in joshi have never been a big deal ever so you're looking for something that doesn't really exist in this case.
