  1. Since I have less WCW TV for 1992 (only Saturday Nights), I may do WCW and SMW TV at the same time once I get there. No clue when i'll get around to it but i've been downloaing the whole set of 92 WCW as well though I was able to find all the Main Events from that year too
  2. ......thinking about this earlier today, I can't believe a former wrestler's never opened up a BBQ joint after retirment and named it "are you ribbin' me"
  3. Not liking Chikara doesn't surprise me, it's a niche product that doesn't have universal appeal. Thinking Randy "Mr Chinlock" Orton is the best ever but having no patience for Ric Flair matches is puzzling however. That's easy. They're both overrated. That reminds me, i've never seen either, really should stop being lazy and get around to it one day.
  4. Yeah Fuchi's the man, easily my fave All Japan guy Fuck being a nice sportsman, he'll just punch you and step on your throat, I apreciate that

  6. Well, yes & no. When you're doing a comparison like this and trying to rank someone for a world wide hall of fame there's an awful lot of ppl who've been top lvl wrestlers for longer then that. Masato Tanaka's been great for like 17 years.
  7. Pluses - One of the best in ring workers of all time - Extremely popular big star during the 90's boom period of joshi Minuses - Peak as a great worker was 9-10 years out of a 24 year career. - Didn't get her chance to become the ace until business was starting to go down. She would have gotten the spot anyways even if it stayed up and the fact that it went down wasn't her fault in any way but still. Kind of the equiv of switching from the Hogan era to the Bret era - Never had enough success as a booker/promoter to count that in her favor. I would absolutely 100% vote him in on work alone but that's all he has going for him which isn't enough for a lot of ppl I know.

  9. Kobashi's run with the belt has always been highly regarded by a lot of ppl. I actually prefer 00's NOAH to 90's All Japan.

  12. Watched Alundra Blaze vs Bull Nakano from 4/3/95 RAW. Weird match, I can easily see why it was highly thought of at the time and is fondly remembered (unheard of to see women or even most men do some of the stuff they were busting out in a US ring) but damn does it not hold up well at all. It's like they had a really great 15 min match planed and then got their time cut down to 6 mins so they decided to keep all the big moves and dump ALL the selling. That right thear is enough to convince me I never ever ever want to watch 93 ECW. Any promotion whear Rockin Rebel is in consideration for top 5 guy on the roster is a promotion i'll stay far away from thank you very much.

  14. Haven't seen a much of Hase in All Japan but I actually really loved his singles vs Kobashi & Kawada. Some of my fav matches i've seen any of those 3 involved in. What's funny is that actually she was way ahead of Sakie & Tak on the pecking order until she got injured. By the time she came back they were far ahead of her though and she had no chance of catching up but had she not gone out Yoshida would have been on the same lvl. The 30 min draw was more them experimenting with diffrent stuff after getting to head to Mexico then either's usuall style. Them busting out a few comedy spots may lean a bit more towards Kyoko's influence then Yoshida's but other then that nothing screams that either one is carrying the other. The rematch the next month was more traditional type stuff but Yoshida matched Kyoko move for move and wasn't being carried at all as she'd done that type of thing a bunch of times with several other ppl that year. I agree both matches fall into the "really good but not quite as great as they could have been" catagory but it def wasn't due to Yoshida being the lesser worker. I'd agree but that's more praise for 80's AJW then a slag on Yoshida. Hmmm.... Yoshida vs Yumi Ogura vs Kazue Nagahori I'm not sure I'd say that. Toyota/Yamada inprints on the promotion surely influenced its style for the years to come, but Bull and Hokuto were big on selling. Ditto Aja and Bison. Well, the sprint stuff is def the most high profile representation of AJW but yeah, there were way too many girls on the roster who were great sellers and great at working slower paced, slower built stuff to paint brush the whole company that way, especially during the time frame mentioned. Like someone (OJ?) mentioned earlier they did get away from it a little bit more as time went on tho. Pettengill easy I mean fuck it, WWF was still primarilly targetting kids at the time and I was a kid at that time and I dug the guy back then so he did his job. I have pretty much nothing but positive/happy memories of Pettengill in the early to mid 90's. Mooney even as a youngster I always saw as too bland & unexciting.
  15. Well yeah but I consider that more of a stupid "run before you can walk" decesion that hopefully they'll learn from. The numbers in their usual markets still seem to be decent or better, they just need to realise going into a new place after only a few months of tv isn't a recipee for huge success. So long as they avoid stuff like that I don't see why they won't slowly grow.
  16. ???? What are you basing that on? ROH is less then a yr into being purchased by a big multi media company that recently gave them a semi national tv deal. No solid #'s are out but all indications so far are that they're happy with the ratings they're drawing and they're being given more & more tv clearences into new markets each month. I get not being a fan of the current product but from a purely business point of view there's not much to suggest they're in any danger what so ever.
  17. Akira Hokuto springs to mind, ppl don't talk much about her pre 92-93 run but she started wrestling in 85 and was really damn good by the late 80's
  18. Yup you got it
  19. Watched the same match yesterday and largely agree except I only thought the Skinny Trauma vs Terry section of the first fall was awful, there's one point whear Trauma is trying to put him in a hold but Terry's not in the right position so Terry literally just gives him his hand to assist him in putting the move on. The Skyde vs Navarro part I liked.
  20. Heh, yeah I was more annoyed by him posting "ROH star on WWE tour" and it turning out to be Claudio who's been with the WWE for months now.
  21. Dunno if it was planed for Kansai to drop her or not but even if she'd hit it clean Aja prob would have kicked out. The Die Hard was Kansai's ultra mega ultimate finisher so it makes the most sense as the ending to this match. Joshi's a big melting pot and they've always had a heavy influence from MMA so it's a carry over from that. Milking the 10 count was always a fave spot of Kansai's to do in her big singles matches and trying to knock each other out was a huge part of the Aja/Kansai feud. First time they ever wrestled the very first thing Aja does is KO her w/in 30 seconds, Kansai's only previous win over Aja was via KO, etc...
  22. You're forgetting his really shitty run as an actual wrestler, one of the last things he did in the company was feuding with Colin Delaney during the briefe period he was around. Yeah, always thought that was one of the stupidest things ever. Guy could have been mega over for years as a non wrestler had they not fucked w the character and just let him go. Guy screwed himself in the end tho by getting in such great shape that there was no way they weren't gonna force him into the ring.
  23. Watched this the other day, quite the awesome match. Cool little story with Savage wanting to be all fair & sportsman like and have a nice gentlemanly scientific match but Bret keeps out wrestling him so Savage snaps and is like "fuck it i'll just kick you in the head and cheat instead". Must have for sure if you guys are still taking recomendations.
  24. Yeah, 91 - 92 was around when you first started seeing the large influx of guys showing up to the shows but up until that point the vast majority of the audiance was female and even past that for much of the 90's that was still a large part of the audiance.
  25. So is this some great hidden gem or just on here because of the angle surrounding it?
