  1. Quite a bit of news lately that no one has said anything about. Cena is hurt, although day-to-day so I doubt he'll miss any shows, WWE apparently signed Awesome Kong, which I never thought would happen, and Spike TV cancelled TNA ReAction. Thoughts on any of that? Well, Mysterio is a 2x former champion, although I didn't buy him as credible. I think Miz is fine, myself. He's got himself into really good shape, he's getting better in the ring, he's good on the mic and he cheats anyway, so he doesn't need to be booked as a tough guy. If anything, WWE needs a Honky Tonk type heel on top for a change. BTW, Loss, if you ever wrote a blog or anything about wrestling, I would read it. I love reading your opinions on shit.
  2. I really do think that it simply comes down to this. It's not just the lack of a good, strong compelling storyline. During the "boom" you had both the nWo and Austin/McMahon, plus some other stuff that people were interested in like D-Generation X or whatever. The big storyline that just happened was John Cena was "fired" by Nexus and yet he didn't miss a single show because what would WWE RAW be without John Cena on it? I'm not sure if I would go so far as to say that the crop of talent today "sucks" but they are definitely a different breed for sure. There are a lot less charismatic people that can give you a great promo, and even if they could, it would be scripted and they would be told what to say. The days of practicing a promo in your bathroom mirror with a hairbrush have been replaced by working your 7 minute TV match and then going to play video games. I like John Cena, as an example. I think he's a great man (can't deny his Make-A-Wish stuff) and when he is actually allowed to act natural, he can be pretty funny. However he is never going to be perceived in the same way that someone like Austin or The Rock were, which is unfair to him as they were so high up the ladder. But you put someone in that role, anyone, and they're going to be compared to them and in that regard, I think he has done pretty O.K. How long has he been carrying WWE now?
  3. I really like Low Ki but if there ever was a wrestler that did not fit into what WWE is trying to do, it is him. He's small, never really works a lot of short matches and is stiff a lot of the time. Plus he is not a great talker. I like to think that WWE is getting away from their stigma of wrestlers being used based on size but then I think of a Chris Masters de-push and mocking in a promo here or a signing/pushing of an Ezekial Jackson there and the U.S. Champion Daniel Bryan's seem a lot more few and far between. I'm sure Low Ki will not be short for work as he can just go back to Japan or whatever, but as long as he was down in FCW, and winning NXT, it seems odd that they would just up and cut him NOW.
  4. I finally got around to watching Ring Roasts III with Jim Cornette. Just as a warning, do not watch it. It is not good. It is not funny. It is terrible and pathetic. I genuinely felt bad for damn near everyone there as they were bombing so hard. Plus Amy Lee I guess in the Lisa Lampanelli role, just kept cussing and trying to cut people off. It was excruciatingly painful. ABORT!
  5. I really think that WWE struck gold with Alberto Del Rio. Good thinking on Vince's part to not actually give him the mask that he was rumored to debut with. The guy has amazing facial expressions. If the future of WWE is people like C.M. Punk and Alberto Del Rio, there is a reason to be excited! Now if only this feud with Rey Mysterio would finally end!
  6. A reply on the YouTube comments about that Vader squash: "It was originally set up to be a competitive match as booked in the locker room, but as soon as Zenk started his come back, Ole told the ref to call for the pin. It was reported that the wrestlers in the back were pretty pissed off at Ole for this." Know anything about that?
  7. I'm not positive it's Baby Doll, but toward the end of the video, Jim Cornette calls her Baby Doll and she was blond, so I thought it might be...
  8. It's Baby Doll, apparently.
  9. They were getting face pops because they were putting women through tables period, not just Mae. Although the first Powerbomb on Mae Young was surreal, the one off the stage was uncanny. Lita, Trish, Terri, Tori, etc. It was the whole "euphoric stare!" era of the Dudleys. Pretty crazy to think that a heel tag team would get face pops for beating up women, especially when some of the women, like Lita, were fan favorites... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsWt_Gh-n9A
  10. I am really happy that Kaitlyn won WWE NXT Season 3. I was sold after her Halloween costume was Vickie Guerrero. Granted Kaitlyn is dreadful in the ring but this is the WWE "Diva" division (if she works at all) and the last thing that matters there is wrestling talent. She is entertaining (at least to me) so I think she will do well. As long as there is room for people like Kelly Kelly and Melina, Kaitlyn should be fine. I also want to say that although I was not thrilled with how it made Wade Barrett look, I was pretty happy to see The Miz win the WWE title. Talk about a strong year for him! He has definitely come a long way.
  11. I watched the TNA PPV last night with three of my friends. It was...not good. Even worse than the show though was the shitty service from Time Warner. Of course the PPV feed was messed up. So after calling and ensuring that due to the fucked up feed that we were not going to be billed for the show, suddenly the show being lackluster was not so bad! There's so much wrong with TNA that it is not even funny to joke about anymore. I could complain about stuff all day but I think the most annoying thing right now is how much damn TV time Eric Bischoff is getting...
  12. I will be happy when all of this crap is finally over. Who knows how long after the election, win or lose, that will take though...
  13. Well, I mean, she's really bad, so maybe that is the reasoning? I would even say Kelly Kelly is more entertaining than Melina nowadays. Yeah, I went there. Melina just seems like a liability to me and probably should have been fired a long time ago.
  14. The cut away too fast after the match, I think. It was too important that they get that STAND UP FOR WWE! shill video in there. They should have showed a replay of Morrison pulling Santino away (if he did) and then shown more of the reactions from both Santino for winning and of Sheamus for losing. Ya know? Just poorly executed. As it stands, it looks like Santino just pinned the former WWE champion.
  15. No one. They're putting him in a program with Morrison. Morrison caused him to lose to Santino tonight. Listening to Meltzer and Alverez talk about it is hilarious, as neither of them saw that Morrison saved Santino in the corner, leading to the fluke win. It's funny because I didn't see Morrison do that either, which isn't surprising because Morrison sucks at his job. What I saw was Santino fall down three different times when Sheamus went for the Brough Kick and then after the third miss of the kick, Santino just pinned Sheamus clean...after a slow count.
  16. Who the fuck did Sheamus piss off?
  17. Did anyone hear what Stryker said to Jerry Lawler? Lawler made a comment about Stryker never winning titles and Stryker retaliated that he never booked himself in his own promotion. Isn't that the type of stuff that probably...shouldn't be said on live TV?
  18. About a week or so ago, Dixie on Twitter mentioned something about praying for Hogan because he was in the hospital getting surgery or something. I replied saying he doesn't need any help because he's immortal. Now the group in TNA is called Immortal and Abyss is cutting promos about how Hulkamania will never die and Hogan is Immortal. I'm sure it's completely coincidental, but it makes me feel special, damnit!
  19. Damn, I thought we had something in common for a second!
  20. Pathetic? More like amazing! Nash & Waltman, drunk & baked off their asses just burying the fuck out of people and burning bridges? Yes, please!
  21. TNA is not generally looked at in a positive light by the majority of wrestling fans nowadays, if ever. I was curious if anyone was planning on ordering/watching Bound for Glory tonight though?
  22. It's a crazy world we live in now as wrestling fans. When I was growing up, the last thing on my mind was Hulk Hogan or The Ultimate Warrior turning into bad guys or Rick Rude or Honky Tonk Man turning into good guys. Nowadays, it's just expected it seems. I don't see a problem with Cena just staying a babyface. Although the talks of him turning heel have been going on ever since he was stabbed by Carlito's Jesus on Smackdown!
  23. I liked Sid too! My channel-changers were people like Glacier, Prince Iukea, Norman Smiley, Kidman...a lot of the Thunder regulars. My biggest HAD to have been Alex Wright. I HATED that mother-fucker.
  24. Meng was actually one of my favorite wrestlers in WCW. Not just his Faces of Fear run either. I admit his Hardcore era was silly, moreso because of Normal Smiley than Meng, but it sort of turned Meng into a comedy character which went against how he was built-up for so long. I remember Meng even had Goldberg beat one time but let go of the Tongan Death Grip because the nWo was at ringside or something. I don't remember exactly as it was a long time ago. Meng owned though. I'll never forget there was a Lumberjack Strap match and Meng came out with a strap and was swinging it at camera men and shit. Bobby Heenan went off on commentary: "He can't even get to the ring without hitting people! Who would give this man a strap?" Haku/Meng has always been a big guilty pleasure of mine though.
  25. Kaitlyn a "man chick?" I think the woman is gorgeous myself...
