  1. This is such a good point. Even Darby Allin, whom seems to be really popular right now, just feels like the host body for the parasitic vampire Sting to suck the sustenance from. I say fuck it, turn Sting heel & have Darby topple him. You have to pull the trigger. You can't just always dangle the carrot. AEW does have some pretty cool moments, even the bathroom brawl from this last AEW Dynamite was good. The popcorn & dipping dot brawl from like a year ago was great, too. There's a lot of good stuff but none of it really feels like it's sticking & a lot of the time, the good shit is bookended with two different goofy segments like the fucking Best Friends getting dropped off by their mom in a minivan or whatever-the-fuck.
  2. My comment didn't have anything to do with ratings. I didn't know anything about ratings was even posted or out. I don't follow that shit because it doesn't matter to me. My issue is with giving ex-WWE wrestler Christian at 47-years-old 20-minute matches on your new, upstart, alternative wrestling program that you want to differentiate itself from WWE. Christian is a fine worker. He's also boring as fuck.
  3. AEW Dynamite doesn't need 20 minute Christian matches though. That's my biggest concern going forward.
  4. NWA POWERRR EPISODE 23 This is my first NWA show since they left YouTube. I didn't get to see the Pay-Per-View nor the last episode of Powerrr that I also apparently missed (that I didn't know happened). Love that they are back to Dokken Into the Fire for the opening theme. Just gives the overall show a different feel & vibe. I really like the NWA Championship title. The actual belt itself. It still looks great & I love how they put it on display during a Nick Aldis promo. The Aldis promo, by the way, was pretty good. Felt like he may have gotten a bit lost toward the end or Adonis missed his cue & was late but they definitely had to stall a bit. Trevor Murdoch Vs. Adonis appeals to me. I like Aron Stevens more when he's not always doing comedy. Velvet Sky was on the commentary team but wasn't there long. Felt like she didn't want to be there, to be honest. Tim Storm wasn't bad. Joe Galli was fine. Tim Storm when he retires from in-ring wouldn't be a bad color man. Was impressed by Slice Boogey but his ring gear & name need work. Mets fan or not. Jeremiah Plunkett I don't feel is too terrible of a name & him being announced as from Tatersville popped me. I don't know who Skye Blue is but she is super cute. Gave off that A.J. Lee vibe. Yeah, I dig her, I want to see more of her. She made a big impression on me. Jennacide was out there working like Big John Studd. Big Jenna Studd lmao. Not sure why she was dressed up like Ace Frehley from KISS. Poor Alex Gracia, only thing I could notice was all of her fake pink hair falling out all over the place. NWA still being able to build to Thunder Rosa Vs. Kamille is nice. That's one of their better matches available. Tyrus looked old, fat, tired, & we know he's a piece of shit behind the scenes. Austin Idol being with him doesn't change any of that. Get 'em outta there. I know NWA, especially now, needs talent but guys like him aren't it. I don't mind the former Darren Young pick up. Pope's promo felt like he was trying to channel The Doctor of Style, Slick. I don't mind May Valentine as the backstage interviewer. Chris Adonis, formerly Chris Masters, looks a lot smaller but I remember him not being a bad worker toward the end of his WWE stint. Same with Trevor Murdoch, not a bad worker. I liked the injured neck angle they played up, not only to make Murdoch look tough (or dumb depending on how you look at it) for continuing with the match but it also gives him an excuse for losing & Adonis' Masterlock focuses on the neck. PSYCHOLOGY~! I was happy with this show. If it's like this every week, I'll be good. More serious feel, decent wrestling, good promos. Got to see new faces. Advanced some angles. All in under an hour. Look forward to seeing the Thunder Rosa Vs. Kamille match when it happens. I'm sure something is going to happen with Adonis to make him not join the Strictly Business stable. They set-up a tag title match for next week. I want to see more from Skye Blue, I think she can be a star.
  5. Yeah, they're all on YouTube now. I might give them a re-watch. Could be cool with modern eyes. I like shit like that. I even watched a lot of Tough Enough back in the day, especially the early ones with Maven & whatnot.
  6. He's also very obviously got a Napoleon complex going on. Tiny lil' sumbitch.
  7. I'm glad to see that she made it to WWE, if that was her goal all along. Although I guess she's still "just" on NXT. I've seen her do good things elsewhere. First time I ever saw her was actually on Lance Storm's wrestling training reality show World of Hurt.
  8. The IWGP Heavyweight Title was the best looking belt in all of wrestling.
  9. Same. Charlotte is great. I really like Lesnar too. I feel like Brock, Roman & Cena are the only guys they could still sell a show with. I just don't think there's big mass appeal for the likes of Edge, Drew McIntyre or Bobby Lashley. On the women side, Becky, Ronda & maybe Charlotte? I don't actually know how well received Charlotte is.
  10. So me, then, without saying my name? All I know is that, at least as it pertains to WWF, shit like Savage & Liz reuniting is a more memorable thing than the (good) match that Warrior & Savage had right before hand. People bought tickets to see Hogan Vs. Andre at Wrestlemania 3 for the story of can the Giant be beaten, not for Savage Vs. Steamboat wrestling a clinic. No one cared that studio shows were full of jobber squash matches. People were buying tickets to see the stars & see what the stars did. WWE currently has no stars & the ratings are terrible, regardless of if the matches are better. The "romanticizing" that goes on pertains to workrate, Meltzer's opinion & his sycophants. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  11. Call up Stevie Richards. He'll show you, you'll see! And it's timely! The whole Right to Censor gimmick ties-in with the current Peacock news! And he was the valet for Victoria, whom was recently on WWE TV! It's perfect!
  12. I was reading about Tay Conti getting ready to go into MMA & have her first fight. Despite seeing the likes of Ronda Rousey & other women be involved in combat sports & find success, my first thought was it would be a mistake for AEW to let Tay Conti do that. Firstly, those other women like Ronda or Shayna, they did MMA first & then came to wrestling, not the other way around. Tay looks like she might be on the brink of becoming something in wrestling but it feels like it could potentially be a risk that isn't work taking doing MMA, from the AEW perspective, not her perspective. If she gets hurt, it could mess up her wrestling direction. If she loses, it could mess up her wrestling direction. If she wins, she'll want to keep going & then will have to continue to train & potentially miss more time in wrestling to pursue MMA. If she wants to do it, more power to her, but I wouldn't be surprised if a promoter would be less likely to use or push someone that could potentially be leaving, hurt, or for the lack of a better phrase, a part-time wrestler. Of course, she might also turn out to be really good in MMA & find more success there than in wrestling. I'm sure the likes of the AEW roster will be very supportive publicly but I'm curious to see if she starts getting less TV time or used less or if the speculation starts running wild. You know how rumor in pro-wrestling can be. MMA certainly didn't do C.M. Punk any favors.
  13. Even if I believed that are those people watching WWE Pay-Per-views on the WWE Network? This is one of the weirdest things I remember WWE trying to do, honestly. I get that some of it, maybe even most of it, is due to the pandemic. The A.J. Styles & Undertaker, all things considered, had a successful Wrestlemania "match" & I think it gave WWE as a whole way too big of a head as to what that meant going forward. I mean, even if you compare it to some of the lamest stuff WWE has done before, like when Papa Shango made The Ultimate Warrior throw up the black ooze... they've even done that shit during this mess too! It almost feels like a rib, to be honest. Like they're doing it to take the piss out of someone or something. "Let's get the Razzie award too, goddamnit!"
  14. Who exactly is supposed to be the target audience for the Alexa Bliss/Fiend stuff?
  15. So, I get their stance on shit like that, as it pertains to race relations & what not. That's not OK and it's justifiable to me. It's always kind of been a black cloud hanging over pro-wrestling. How are they going to approach violence and sexuality though? Like I imagine The Katt taking off her top will be censored but what about all the thong upskirt shots from ECW or Godfather's women? What about bloody matches or extreme matches with barbed wire & what not? What about man on woman violence, especially in older content? Dark Journey eating the DDT from a blind Jake Roberts with the crowd losing their minds is a good moment in history but, does it hold up now or is it too much? It's going to be interesting in that regard.
  16. I feel like Freddie Prinze, Jr. did a decent job at WWE - at least had the right ideas - for the short time that he was there. His name doesn't come up too often & I'm not sure if WWE soured him on the idea of pro-wrestling as a whole or not. I think it's not necessarily a bad idea to had the mind of some non wrestling people to help come up with new ideas, so long as there are wrestling people around them, you know?
  17. There was a lot of good on the show tonight. Love that Tay got the win over Nyla - I like Tay & think the sky is the limit for her. Really dig Darby Allin. That backstage promo from Mox/Kingston was gold. I dig the new Pinnacle stable. Feels like they're building up The Rhodes family to be mega heels.
  18. I think it kind of goes hand-in-hand with a few others posts I've seen on PWO lately: when you try to build everything around the "great matches" stuff it kind of makes the overall show feel less important. People aren't talking about winning & losing, they're talking about match ratings & Match of the Year awards. The average person is not going to get sucked in with that, nor care. They can't relate to that. They can relate to something like you jumped me, beat up my friend & took my girl so I want revenge. If the match is good on top of that, it's just a bonus. But when the titles are meaningless, the crowd is chanting the promotion letters instead of the wrestlers' name & the champions are talking about Dave Meltzer, who are we trying to appeal to? Also, if EVERY match is trying to be Match of the Night & standout, after awhile, no match stands out & it all starts to blend together. Or as I call it, the ROH-effect.
  19. So they mispronounce it in the game as well?
  20. Is it not pronounced winged and not wing-ed? Pretty sure wing-ed is not a word. Like this.
  21. I forgot about Allysin Kay. AEW getting her would be nice, too.
  22. Of course it is because, pro-wrestling is still just story-telling. Regardless of the medium, storytelling is pretty much always the same, even if cliché. It doesn't matter if it is in written or video form. Good person or people against bad person or people (or things) with the good person finding success in the end. Build the good person up as virtuous or with high morals or whatever & make the bad person sinister because of evil deeds or nefarious tactics. It doesn't matter if it's The Bible, War of the Worlds, Stephen King's IT, Bruno Vs. Ivan, whatever. In wrestling it usually just means the bad guy cheats or says bad shit & the good guy doesn't. It's why I'm still of the mindset that in-ring work should take a backseat to everything else. I know that's not exactly a popular opinion online but really, it's true. The match might be the drizzling shits but if you have a good guy that people like & a bad guy that people hate, they'll want to see the match to see what happens, especially if it can mean the bad guy getting their comeuppance. Works in UFC. Works in boxing. Pretty much works universally.
  23. Wait, Ivan Koloff is really not in the Hall of Fame? How in the fuck?
