Parv would have to drop out of the NWA in order to run Central States. Then the NWA can help Central States run better cards and the WWF can fail. We would need some kind of poll. Are you vetoing me running St. Louis? Did Central States really run St. Louis in 83?
-
Shh shhh. Enough of this. I'm running it now.
-
Sure, but LA / Cali / St. Louis / Detroit are mine as per towns actually being run by WWF around this period.
-
So Grand Wizard dies in October? This is important because it plummets the value of certain guys if we know they will die. Also, what about retirements? I would like to say that we keep guys working. But if we're going for this hard following of what actually happened, it's another consideration.

Well it wouldn't work if there wasn't a mouthpiece / main antagonist bringing in heels through the rotating door. But I also think Heenan is a franchise player you can carry a promotion on. -
Please welcome WWF representative Phil Zacko. Hey, what you people lookin' at? whack whack whack. The WWF's next pick will be Bobby Heenan.
-
The WWF and Maple Leaf Wrestling are proud to announce a co-promotional agreement: once a month the WWF will provide two matches to Maple Leaf Gardens cards (one featured matchup and one undercard match). In addtion, Maple Leaf Wrestling will promote one NWA Candadian Title match on MSG cards every month. The Meadlowands will run as the fourth monthly house show in the regular loop.

... Good luck getting him to job though, I've seen Dory take one pin in about fifty matches. And it was the title loss to Race in 73. -

I think Conrad has done a good job in a difficult spot. He's knowledgable, keeps things on track, asks difficult questions and does it all without stepping on Ric's toes. He's the best "second" that has been on any of these wrestler shows. -

I have made a list of 30 guys who are still available that I consider to be "value" at this stage in the game. I will be interested to see how many are left after Round 2. -

Patience is a virtue. -
Is he doing Takeshi's Castle?!
-
His career stats are interesting too: (win - draw - loss) He comes into WWF in 82: 56 wins in 82. Including singles wins over Mr. Saito. And tagging with Andre and Pedro Morales. The losses are actually battle royals, he was undefeated for the year. By 83 he's still winning a lot more than jobbing and even has a title bout vs. Iron Sheik late in the year. He has wins over Ivan Koloff too. Not the jobber you'd think he is. By 84, it seems as soon as Vince Jr takes over he's relegated to JTTS status and treated as a complete joke. Weird deal that he'd stick around for another 3-4 years to be humilated. But looking at the numbers, it also looks like he went part-time and probably only wrestled in the North East.

I've just been cruising the internet for Bellomo stuff. The guy had a very very weird deal in WWF. There's an MSG match vs. Johnny Rodz from 12/28/84 when Howard Finkel introduces his parents to the crowd before the match. Bellomo goes over and then cuts a promo post-match about how proud he is. So weird, because this is one month after he jobs to Bobby Heenan and has a Piper's Pit in which he's totally roasted and called a pizza boy. A couple of years later in 1987, he appears on the Snake Pit where he "shows off" his body as Jake mocks him. Then I watched a bit of a match of him in 1993 in ECW vs. Kerry Von Erich, where he's completely transformed into the above. What the fuck was his WWF career about? Did Vince find it funny to keep this guy hanging around as a sort of weirdly featured jobber? He kept giving him TV time in prominent spots in a way a lot of the other jobbers didn't get.

Just randomly googling Sal Bellomo, I came across this. I thought it might be see interesting to see Heenan against an absolutely atrocious worker like Sal. I am not sure what to make of it, but it was interesting to watch. Bellomo was fucking awful -- there were times when it seems like even Monsoon and Lord Al were picking up on the fact that he just wasn't doing anything when he should have been at least attacking Heenan. Bobby did his best here to still come off as weaselly and beatable, but stripped of his bumping he mainly had to fall back on schtick and cheapness. Just interesting to see what Heenan does in a slightly different scenario from the one we're used to seeing him in.
-
Looking it up and it was actually Dr. D. David Schultz vs. Travis. Bellomo was just building the model ship and they show a clip of a job to Big John Studd. Anyone want to take a bet on when Sal Bellomo is drafted?
-
Funny enough, I think that match vs. Sal Bellomo in St. Louis is the one I've seen! It's on an episode of TNT.
-
I'm sure I've seen him as a jobber in WWF circa 84.

Flair's podcast (WOOOOONation)
JerryvonKramer replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I think if you're predisposed not to like Ric, this show won't really turn you round on him. Confirmation bias is a difficult force to overcome, and while this has been good, it's not been so good to change anyone's opinion about Flair. -
Updated.

Ahem, thanks, amended.

The WWF is pleased to announce talent trade agreements with the World Wrestling Association, Mid-South Wrestling, Championship Wrestling from Florida, and Southwest Championship Wrestling! These trades involve top names such as ... Andre the Giant, Larry Zbysko, Dick Murdoch, Ted DiBiase, Roddy Piper, and Tully Blanchard. The next 6 months of shows at Madison Square Garden and the Philadelphia Spectrum look set to be packed with star names! Local Philadelphia celebrity and wrestling fan Kal Rudman was said to be delighted at the prospect of seeing some of the country's top talent in action over the next few months.

The WWF and Jim Crockett Promotions have closed a talent trade deal involving Andre the Giant and Ric Flair.
