  1. I'm not against you there NL
  2. Looking at this again, I think it's completely weird to draft someone knowing they are going to die in a few months. If anything is morbid, it's that.
  3. On another note, this last snake round has been fucking brutal for me. I've had to endure THIRTY-THREE picks between mine.
  4. What happened with the Golden picks?
  5. Saw some of the matches with Chris Adams and thought they were nothing at all. I actually think Austin is not very good until he cuts his hair and changes his trunks. Around that time he starts getting a lot better.
  6. Targets for promotion's "Indian": 1. Wahoo McDaniel 2. Adnan Kaissey reskinned as Billy White Wolf 3. Chavo Guerrero in a headdress 4. Chief Thundercloud 5. Cuban Assassin in a headdress 6. Dominic DeNucci in a headdress 7. Jules Strongbow ... ... ... ... 8. There is no eight.
  7. Crossface makes a good point, but this is only something that has emerged from the established "meta" so far.
  8. Austin was really not very good in 1991 in my opinion. I've been a little surprised re-watching for WTBBP just how long it took him to start looking good.
  9. Only Worldwide wasn't truly a B-show and Pro / Main Event often had longer featured matches between top stars. Just as some random examples, Ricky Steamboat vs. Arn Anderson was a match that happened on Pro. Steamboat vs. Eaton and Rude vs. Cactus Jack on Main Event It's not like the "B-shows" were just Koko B. Ware over jobber matches.
  10. He might not necessarily drop the title ...
  11. Of course, this is a board full of Americans, so you all already know this.
  12. That is also true. It depends on if you roleplay that aspect. If you assume that the picks are all free though, I think you see a different sort of pick. I'm not necessarily knocking that Embry pick specifically either. I'm just saying that some guys you can afford to wait on in a market where only you might see value in a guy for whatever reason (regional history, personal preference, potential, whatever).
  13. I think if the actual promoters were doing this exercise in 1983, we wouldn't have seen some of these picks. They would take stars and draws first. I think the saves were largely what they would have made -- maybe Watts saves JYD and not Ted -- but I don't think some of the drafts picks would have been the same. I guess that's in the nature of "fantasy" though.
  14. I also think in a market where value is relative you are best off going for people who represent value to everyone. The regional stars are less important. I realise I say that after just having made a slightly risk-averse Backlund pick, but I could see Backlund as a 6-year WWF champion having some value in other markets, especially those he'd worked in before like Florida or the West Texas area. And the doubt was enough for me to jump. But I still got him 3rd pick instead of 1 or 2. Jimmy Hart was a great pick, certain others slightly less so because the players in question wouldn't have had much competition for them anyway.
  15. The Samoans can die in a fire as far as I'm concerned. Don't want them stinking up my beautiful All-Star cards.
  16. My drafting plans are basically full-proof. I might have waited a bit for Backlund, but I had an awfully long wait till 4th pick and didn't see him surviving 20+ picks. There's still a lot of value on the board. There are some picks that I personally think have been stragically poor, but I'm not naming names or revealing which ones.
  17. http://placetobenation.com/where-the-big-boys-play-73-wcw-new-japan-supershow-92/ Chad and Parv are back to review the WCW / New Japan Supershow 92. [0:38:32 - 0:55:48] - Discussion of Dusty Rhodes, his career and what he meant to fans in light of his passing.
  18. You get Dayton, Springfield, Wilmington, Columbus itself, Cincinnati I get Akron, Cleveland, Canton, Warren.
  19. In practice this means this:
  20. I propose the following: You run towns south of Columbus I run towns north of there.
  21. That was a legitimate purchase from Mike LaBell, who will be running operations out there.
  22. To be honest, I don't really see what business GCW has doing up there. Ohio is on the WWF's doorstep. Cleveland is one of the most naturally WWF towns there is. It's ridiculous that a Southern promotion is trying to claim any of those towns.
  23. Do you have a problem with any of these? Akron, OH - Physical Education Building Cincinatti, OH - Riverfront Coliseum Dayton, OH - Hara Arena Warren, OH - WD Packard Music Hall
