NWA Lutte Internationale Presents 2nd Annual Johnny Rougeau Memorial Cup
Boon replied to SirEdger's topic in Promotions
It's much appreciated just looking at the teams in it, the combo I could send would add very little if you can get Anderson & Eaton. Maybe next year I'll have the best team in the land and send them... -
NWA Lutte Internationale Presents 2nd Annual Johnny Rougeau Memorial Cup
Boon replied to SirEdger's topic in Promotions
I'll give it about a week to see if anyone chimes in. I thought maybe that Boon would like to get involved in some way, since he arrived after I launched the tournament. There's still a lot 1 month before the start of the tournament so I'm not stressing....yet lol At the moment I think any of my teams would stick out like a sore thumb. I have a couple of teams I'm building up, but not ready for anything like this.. -

If there was a man who could get 60 minutes out of the Baron in 1985, I'd say Terry Funk could do it, great work...

Wow Knoxville Civic centre got a crazy day of wrestling, Smoky Mountain in the morning and Continental in the evening and then again back Monday night (Wasn't intended). I like this version of CCW, when Fuller wanted to expand and sound more national in 1985 he would of loved a roster this stacked...

In tonights main event, Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Champion Ron Starr defeats Private Don Kernodle in 18 minutes with a DDT. The match started with Starr wasting a lot of time with began to frustrate Kernodle, finally Kernodle took control of the contest and got several near falls, only for him to miss a running charge to Starr in the corner which allowed Starr to hit his DDT and cover for the 3 count.

Smoky Mountain All Star Wrestling Saturday 23rd March 1985 Knoxville Civic Ballroom, Knoxville, TN Taped in front of a live studio audience at the Knoxville Civic Ballroom, Knoxville, TN Hosted by Les Thatcher Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Champion - Ron Starr Smoky Mountain Tag Team Champions - The Batten Twins (Brad & Mark) The show opening roles and we pan to Les Thatcher sitting at the announcer’s desk with the Smoky Mountain back drop. Thatcher welcomes everyone to the return of All Star Wrestling live from the Knoxville Civic Ballroom, Thatcher tells us that we have an exciting week of wrestling action with Private Don Kernodle in action, the Smoky Mountain Tag Team Champions the Batten Twins will be here, we will have an interview with Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Champion Ron Starr and much, much more. At this point we have a mystery man come to the announcer’s desk, he is dress in traditional Arabic clothing with his face covered, he is followed by two other men dressed similar but less luxurious clothing. The first man reveals his face and introduces himself to Les Thatcher as The Great Gama Singh, a world-renowned wrestler stroke businessman and his travels have lend him to here, he is followed by his two comrades Vulkan Singh (Jeff Sword) and Mulkan Singh (Doug Vines). Gama describes that both Vulkan and Mulkan were once pathetic American believing in the American dream but getting nowhere and he helped them see the light and transformed them into the fighters they are now, and they are going to prove it today. Gama Singh asks Les Thatcher to find him two Americans to fight his Karachi Puraa’s (Brothers), so he can personally see the damage they can cause. Thatcher says while they sort this for the truck to run some advertisements from their sponsors. === Commercial === We return with the Karachi Puraa’s in the ring facing off with Tommy Wright and Mike Jackson. The Great Gama is in the ring and removes both Vulkan and Mulkan keffiyeh (headscarf) and turns the referee and tells him to ring the bell. Mulkan and Vulkan both charge towards Wright and Jackson and attack them from the bell, referee Paul Morton tells the Puraa’s to back up from their attack, Gama Singh jumps to the apron and calls them off, Vulkan leaves the ring and the match takes shape. After 3 minutes of action the Karachi Puraa’s get the victory following a running knee from Mulkan to Tommy Wright. Following the bell, The Great Gama enters the ring, places their keffiyeh back on their heads and they leave the ring together, Gama Singh turns to Les Thatcher on the way out and tells him there is no honour amongst the undisciplined. === Run down of this week’s action coming to Smoky Mountain area === Following a short break where this week’s cards are run down, Les Thatcher is joined by a new tag team to the area, The Memphis Vice, Lou Winston and Jerry Bryant. Both Winston and Bryant tell the fans that they are here to clean up the trouble that roam the streets in Knoxville, like they did in Memphis, and they are after the tag team championship, but their good friends with the Batten Twins so are no threat to them. They make their way to the ring to face off with Steve Dunn and Steve Gatorwolf. The match goes for about 5 minutes when ‘Big’ Lou Winston hits a running Powerslam on Gatorwolf followed by the pin for the victory. === Commercial === Before we have the main event today the Smoky Mountain Tag Team Champions Brad and Mark Batten come to the ring to face off with The Interns (Pat Rose and Tony Falk under mask’s). The champions make light work of the Interns and get the victory in 4 minutes, following a top rope dropkick from Brad Batten. Following the match The Battens join Les Thatcher and tell him unlike some champions in Smoky Mountain Wrestling they are fighting champions and open to any challengers. === Run down of this week’s action coming to Smoky Mountain area === After the break Les Thatcher is joined by Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Champion Ron Starr, Thatcher tells Starr he has been champion for several months now, how long does he think he can continue to be champion? Starr replies with a lot of arrogances in his tone by saying, he’s the best around and there isn’t enough competition here in Smoky Mountain and he may have to look elsewhere for challengers for his title. He goes on to say he knows Thatcher has asked him to sit out here for this number one contender match between Private Don Kernodle and Ken Timbs, who are both fan favourites, but he has other things to do, so he signs the contract for this Monday night and leaves with his title. ‘Fabulous Blonde’ Ken Timbs comes to the ring followed by Private Don Kernodle who carries the United States flag over his shoulder. They pair of fan favourites have a competitive match which goes 7 minutes before Kernodle hits a neckbreaker followed but the cover for the 3 count and the victory. Private Don Kernodle will now face Ron Starr this Monday night for the Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Championship. Kernodle joins Les Thatcher who shakes his hand and congratulates him on his victory, Kernodle put over Timbs as a great competitor and he knows he can beat Ron Starr on Monday night and take the heavyweight title. Don Kernodle also says he wants address The Great Gama Singh’s comments around the great USA earlier in the show, he says American is the land of opportunity and if he doesn’t like it, he can go back to where ever he came from. Les Thatcher thanks the fans for joining the show and says we will be back same time next weekend. === Show ends ===

East Tennessee (Wright/Thatcher) - After their mini revival last summer, Smoky Mountain Wrestling looks to be making a return to the Tri-Cities area (Johnson City, Kingsport and lesser so Bristol), West Virginia and Knoxville which will be their base. Its believed Ron Wright and Les Thatcher have found the funding to re-launch, and negotiations are on going with local promoters and arena's. In line with the promotion re-opening Les Thatcher will be opening a wrestling school to help fill out cards with younger talent. - The promotion is still in negotiations with several lead announcers as Rick Stewart is now back working with David Woods in Alabama promotion. They have even reached out to commentating duo Lance Russell and Dave Brown of Memphis fame, although unlikely it shows ambition from the Knoxville promotion. To keep cost's low, its expected Ron Wright and Les Thatcher will be the announcers for TV. Bill Mercer is also another name flowing about. Television will be taped on Saturday mornings at the Knoxville Civic Ballroom. - The territory loop will be Friday nights in Johnson City, TV tapings Saturday mornings in Knoxville, Kingsports Saturday night and the weekly big show back in Knoxville at the Civic Auditorium on Mondays, with a double header of smaller shows on Sunday in Hazard and Harlan Kentucky. The rest of the week will be filled out with spots shows. TV will not be on the road like last time, as this was felt to be one of the main cash issue. - The roster is similar to the roster we last saw with the exception Tom Pritchard and Johnny Rich who have both moved on, so expect to see the likes of Ron Starr, The Flame, Don Bass and Dirty Rhodes, The Wild Hoggs with some new faces added into the mix. - We will have more updates as the week progress's towards the big return in Knoxville a week Monday.

Yes I would Gene.. Another two to add to the list are the Mod Squad, Basher and Spike
-
Similarly Josh Stroud and Don Bass? Can't see them anywhere? Sorry Brad Batten part of the Batten Twins
-
Thanks, Ill corner Tony Falk too also if possible..
-
Just piecing together a roster, just a few bits? I was using Ron Wright last time round is it okay to use him again? I can see Mike Batten but not Mark, is he available?
-
Thanks, fire it over...

For the time being I believe I can. Maybe best to cover Memphis, looking at potential roster, might be easier to revive my Smoky Mountian stuff I left off with last year? Couldn't do justice to Memphis with these guys...
-
I could use WMC-5 studio with Russel and Brown to add to the legitimacy of running Memphis, but only run Memphis, if no one is opposed to it?
-
At first I thought you meant that dumb Jake Gyllenhaal movie... but how could that be? So, I searched for "Southpaw" Good GAWD is that ever amazing. Russev the farmer! Cena's "Lance Catamaran" voice is the greatest thing he's ever done... I'm dying. Hopefully we can make some room for you. Have you been reading kevin and Gene's threads here? The scene down south is going crazy right now. Kevin and Gene do a great job of recreating the feel down south. Has anyone got Memphis covered? I saw you guys had a draft recently? Would be happy to revive that territory? And thanks Kev, I knew you would. Got a core of 15-20 roster from the the free agency, so if anyone has got anything fair and it fits, happy to bring them in.

It is obviously an open group but what happened when you vanished last time with no communication? I don't want to be negative as I have said I enjoy your work and your effort in the past. Right now we are all doing a pretty good job and I want to keep that going and I think that you could definitely help that, I am just fearful of people giving up talent and then us having the same situation we were in a couple of months ago when you were gone without communication and we had to sit on the rosters for a while. If we can get it worked out to try and be as risk free as possible, I definitely think we can get you going, I just want to do what is best for every person involved as we are all working really hard right now and going in the right direction. Fair point, unfortunately real life got in the way. Can't guarantee it wouldn't happen again, hopefully not. Only after my usual smaller roster if you can accommodate, don't want to upset the apple cart... That's exactly what I was hoping for. Obviously real life messes with us all... only thing I ever ask is communication so we can keep the group as a whole moving forward. Take a look through free agents... work with some of the promotions and see what you come up with. I know you suggested southern wrestling... but there is probably a fun group of guys from England around this time with Big Daddy and others if you'd ever want to take a stab at that. Then we would have Mexico, Japan, and Europe to work with... just a thought. I'd rather stay away from England if possible, I'm happy to run as an outlaw promotion in the Tennessee/West Virginia area using a smaller raw base. Not after any massive names, just a few mid card guys who can headline little towns. Looking at free wire it's tight, but can put something together, I'll have a look. But definitely not after 50 odd guys or people to give up main eventers...
