Damn that sounds awesome. I love the old territory legends like that
-
Oh yea with Triple H running the ropes 50 times before pinning him.
-
Really? Sid had a very good feud with Goldberg and had a great match at Havoc with him.
-
Oh ok myabe HBK was the champ and not defending. Sid v HBK SS 96 just might be my fav WWF title match as weird as that sounds to me
-
Wasnt HBK Taker HIAC for the European strap? If so thats my favorite for that belt. World Heavyweight- Benoit vs. Angle RR 03 More later those two just popped in my head
-
I dunno Will I'm from Chicago and far from southern even though I live in Tampa and I loved bunkhouse buck. Especially in 94 with funk
-
I know I'm being impatient but i really am anticipating this more than any other set. If it is coming out pretty soon ill definitely be one of the first to buy
-
Sids always been a guilty pleasure favorite of mine. His aura was just insane no pun intended and I don't think he was as bad as people say. Granted he's no great worker but he still did enough most of the time and was one of the best squash match guys ever
-
I only really know of his WCW stuff and yea he kind of does come off as a Terry clone but maybe that's what intruiged me about him i'm not sure. I've heard his Mid South stuff was pretty good though. Would you guys say he is on level with Mantell or a notch below?
-
Sell him or bash him. Never really heard too much of the guy but he was around for quite a while from what i gather. Dont know too much about him to be honest but for some reason he intruges me and maybe he is a hidden gem guy. Probably not quite the level of a Murdoch or Butch Reed but if anyone cares to expand on him good or bad please do.

Compared to a lot of other boards and wrestling hangouts on the internet, this place is a haven of politeness and understanding. I think the difference between here and some other places is that, yeah, a lot of otherwise conventional internet opinions are challenged (eg. the greatness of Michaels and Angle), and you need to back things up with something more than "Flair sux, Bret rulz u loser", you are dealing with people who watch more wrestling in a day than most do in a lifetime, so they can argue just about ANYTHING and back it up in a way that is well thought out and not just a bunch of swearing and ridicule. You can like whatever you like, but if you choose to make a post with a arguable statement of some sort ("Sting should be in the WON HoF") someone is going to step up and challenge it. Just don't take it personal. Yea i totally agree with you i guess i was just thrown off by a few comments i saw. I mean wrestling in itself is very subjective and there are many different variations and to me thats what makes it great. I just think of an opinion as an opinion and not the truth if that makes sense? This is a very good board and is my favorite that i've ever come across by far.

Right, i love the debate and thats all good but when someone people act like they're knowledge is the gospel and shit on other people's opinions is what gets me. Its not everybody and its only really here and there but damn more positivity and shedding light and stuff would be good to see. Are people that jaded about wrestling?
-
I think you should be able to like what you like and not even have to jump through hoops to defend it. I mean who gives a fuck if someone disagrees with it, no one here or anywehre for that matter is the be all end all of wrestling and has the authority to say what is good and what isnt. Debate is cool but some people take it too far and shit on people's opinions as if their way of seeing wrestler A is the right way and that's the gospel. I mean sometimes you just like what you like with no rhyme or reason.

Damn has anyone seen the match listing for Bret's new dvd in March. Looks fucking awesome and has a lot of interesting matches on there. Buzz Sawyer, Dynamite, Leo Burke, The Islanders are just a few match ups from the beginning i recall without looking.
-
As for as Indies go Generico/Steen is a really good intense feud. One of the better feuds in the past few years imo

RAW tonight was pretty kick ass altogether, but yeah...I LOVED Rock owning Punk. Unlike the last time, Punk's "Pipe Bomb" stuff was "shooty" in a way that made you want to see him get punched in the face, not go online and jerk off about how "He's shooting what we think". I was chomping at the bit for Rock to come out and own him, and he did. And it worked so well, Punk was never buried as a threat, just owned verbally by THE FUCKING ROCK. Great god damned stuff. You really think The Rock owned Punk? I think Punk's stuff before The Rock came out was really good heel heat and when the two went face to face i thought it was pretty even although Punk didnt get as much time. Punk dropping Nas lyrics was enough for me
-
Oh ok I wasn't sure if they left that arena or not. Im in Tampa so ill just catch the house shows
-
Where is nxt at now? Fcw used to be off of dale mabry and I lives going to that

Yea the unknown keeps me interested as well. The 80's sets and the yearbooks have opened my eyes to a lot of great stuff and made me realize how guys like Lawler and Murdoch for example are Fucking awesome as I only knew of lawlers wwf stuff and a small dose of a guy like Murdoch. Also guys like Punk keep me watching today. You can tell he cares about the craft of wrestling and while he's not the best wrestler he is different from everyone else and is usually entertaining.

I guess that's where i differ from a lot of people. i tend to never really analyze a match instead i just sit back afterwards and say damn that was awesome or fuck that shit sucked. I was at Mania this year and i found myself just being caught up in the Taker Trips match and thats how i like to watch. I like it when a match is so good that you get lost and you let your guard down a little.

It's really not hard to argue when it's all an opinion anyways. I mean there really isnt a right or wrong answer is there? It's fun debate but to me it just comes down to personal taste. I mean Flair could get 100 votes and Bret 3 making it look unaminous but to me Bret would still be better. I guess i dont have that filter on what i like and what i think is best

Yea the whole feel of that show was a lot different at the time. Kind of like mind games but an overall hostile crowd through out. It's just always been a show I can remember as a kid and still fully enjoy today top to bottom. Hell I even liked fake razor and diesel at the time as corny as it was
-
Fucking auto spell made me put Madonna instead of Lafon lol. Oh yea gotta add that the debut of the rock was on that show as well
-
Not calling it the best show of all time but survivor series 96 is probably my sentimental favorite of all time. I remember liking the first ONS when it happened and I second Stampede. It's always hard for me thinking of the best or my favorite all time card I guess I like SS 96 so much because that was my wheelhouse of fandom and Sid Hbk was pretty good with an awesome environment and Bret Austin is one of my top matches of all time. The survivor matches while not all great were at least fun and introduced guts like Scorpio and furnas and Madonna. The taker mankind match was fun as well
