How is SummerSlam a B-PPV, NL? Are you saying they should test Bryans drawing ability by throwing him in the main-event of wrestlemania?
-
You're high, Tim. Cena beat Rollins, was about to AA Ambrose when Reigns speared him and then the Shield got dq'd. Damn well I guess my trolling failed. I think Rollins will be a star once he turns babyface. Reigns will be the Batista of the group. I think Rollins is the wild card of the three. At the very least he'll slot into Kofi Kingstons role, although I suspect he has more upside. Seths NXT title run was pretty good even if his first year of developmental is a pretty good example of the shitty indy stuff having to be bled out of a guy.

Indy wrestling fans rejoice: Big Japan just announced Sami Callihan wont be appearing for them because he signed with WWE. Really smart signing, IMO. I think Sami's immediate success will come from him being able to talk and talk well, at the age of 26. It shouldn't be a problem for him to get over on TV and his rough edges I imagine will be straightened out in developmental no problem. -
What little we got from Kharma was pretty good. "Flop" is definitely the wrong word...

And worst of all you will have to wear a poncho. -
He really, really doesn't. I think it's a great comparison. How does not Generico not fit that exact mould from a look standpoint now?

The Rhodes Scholars, Bella Twins and Layla vs. Brodus Clay, Tensai, the Funkadactyls and Kaitlyn. I also suspect Antonio Cesaro is going to have the task of a triple threat with Kofi Kingston and Sin Cara, which will probably get about 5 minutes.

Does anyone know the attendance yet?

Generico looks like Daniel Bryan in 2010, which means he should be absolutely fine.

If Randy Orton didn't have the two wellness strikes, I would say he's about as "permanent" an upper-midcarder as Undertaker was in 2003 (who somehow found a way to lose to A-Train, John Cena and the FBI on different occasions).

This was in 1996. Flair was driven home by a girl from a party, apparently not aware she was underage. They were pulled over, and she was underage and drunk herself. How can someone not know a girl is 14 years old. How can a 14 year old possibly look overage? -

This is probably a more diplomatic version of what I said. Really though, has WWE ever brought in a guy with a big contract and not pushed him? At least without outside circumstance? -

Was put on television without being given time to adjust to WWE's style of working. Was still a heavily featured mid-carder despite the rocky start. Sin Cara not going to FCW was a huge, huge mistake, IMO. lol He debuted the night after WrestleMania with weeks of build up and a few weeks later pinned John Cena clean, and then didn't get over. It happens. Some guys just don't connect for whatever reason. If you don't think WWE shoved a rocket up Tensai's ass, you weren't watching back then. and There is absolutely no way in hell they're getting him without paying him an ass load of money, meaning that he absolutely, unequivocally will get a rocket shoved up his ass. And I guess that was my initial question: Alberto Del Rio, Tensai, Daniel Bryan, Sin Cara, Kharma and others were all given pushes right out of the gate, and there were mixed results for varying reasons. We know that Okada would be heavily pushed because of what is already established (big money = big push, otherwise known as 1 + 1 = 2), but how do people think he would connect. Unfortunately, apparently you can't ask that question without going through the tired "he'll be held down~!!1!!!" routine I could just as easily read on Bleacher Report. Alberto Del Rio was given a colossal push because he was a huge draw in Mexico and if WWE had any shot of getting the guy, they had to pay him a LOT of money, meaning he automatically was given a big push. Del Rio was given a big push because his contract essentially said he would. Okada isn't different, at all. -

Because both were New Japan wrestlers who the WWE showed interest in. Yamamoto made the move, and his career has been pretty much dormant ever since. Hence: If Okada was considering it, he should ask Yamamoto how his career is going. It's actually not that complicated if you think about it. You're right, it's not complicated. Okada is one of New Japans biggest names right now, main-eventing their biggest shows. Just because he came from the same place doesn't in anyway shape or form imply that he would be used the same way, especially since Tatsu did diddly squat in NJPW. That doesn't even get into the gigantic contract WWE would have to hand over to Okada to get the guy, which automatically means he'd get a rocket shoved up his ass. I like Tatsu too, but it's truly a horrible comparison every way you look at it, Mike. -
I have a question: Would the buy rate for WrestleMania this year take a hit if WWE placed Sheamus against Brock Lesnar as opposed to Triple H?

To the guy who who compared Yoshi Tatsu to Kazuchika Okada, how the fuck are those two even remotely relevant to each other? I really hope your friend laughed, and people who didn't say "wow, that was dumb" should feel bad. -
If Dutch Mantell was offered a role on the creative team... Fuck. That would add a wrinkle to things.

I've been very surprised to see the amount of people who give Okada the "he would only be a mid-carder in WWE" tag. With the ludicrous amount of money they'd have to pay the guy, I think it's an absolute given he'd at least get a Del Rio/Sheamus/Brian/Miz type of push. I don't think he should rush over to WWE, with him only being like 25 (which is unreal) but I wouldn't be surprised if we see it happen in the next couple of years -
So for the second time in Jack Swaggers career, his big push comes COMPLETELY out of nowhere.

Kazuchika Okada recently denied rumors of signing with WWE and resigned with NJPW. Does anyone think Okada in WWE could work out well? -
Really wish they gave the New Foundation a big run with the tag titles. That would have been a lot of fun.

Anyone a fan of Owen's run with Jim Neidhart as the new Hart Foundation? I've always thought Owen would have been an awesome utility player in 2000 era WWF. Mick had just retired and there seemed to be an opening there. So many potential great matches: Rock came into his own as a worker around that time and it was probably Triple H's peak period as a performer, IMO. Seeing Owen lead Kurt Angle around that time could have interesting. Owen-Eddie, Owen-Jericho and even Owen-Rikishi are all intriguing options. Austin, Taker and Benoit rematches. Fuuuck...

If WWE just said "fuck it" and gave William Regal a Bob Backlund circa 1994 push toward the WWE title, I would lose it.

If WWE did rehire Colt (Punk kind of hinted at it a few months ago), then I highly doubt he'd be working that way 90% of the time. Outside of salary, how is Santino any less pigeon-holed than Colt? Colt's gone the road he has because he's more or less been forced to under the circumstances. If he were still under the WWE umbrella, things would be very, very different for him. He'd be marketed entirely differently, and IMO successfully if given the opportunity. Colt's done just about as a good a pro wrestler could possibly do without actually being officially signed anywhere. In fact, I'd say he's in a far better spot than say, Chris Masters or Shelton Benjamin. The Punk thing helped, but it's not like anyone (or anywhere, for that matter) have been able to capetilize on the buzz given to them that Colt did. I don't see how that could be viewed as a negative by WWE. I'm sorry, I just really don't see how Cabana and Meanie are comparable. Colt's got far more appeal on a bigger stage, although it's admittedly limited.
-
Seems like apples and oranges. Both comedy guys, but different acts altogether. I agree for the most part. I can understand why someone wouldn't think Santino's work holds up particularly well against Colt, though. Santino was horrendous for the better part of his time in the company and only really came around during his team with Kozlov (oddly) a couple of years ago. At this point I'd take Santino, but Colt Cabana was a lot better than Santino for a very long time. You're completely twisting what he said. God forbid a Pro Wrestler wants to milk every ounce out of what he worked over a decade for. Where did you get this info from? Seriously not a dig, just curious. You act like this is Mark Henry doing the spots he does. If we're criticizing Cabana for the style he works then we need to do it for a ridiculous amount of really talented people who were more or less the same size as Cabana or even bigger. As far as "the look" thing goes, hey Dusty Rhodes and whole slew of guys over the past 30 years who make Cabana look like Bruno by comparison. The "if you aren't in wrestling to be WWE Champion then you shouldn't be here" mindset is fucking ludicrous. Botching a spot is not in anyway shape or form the equivalent of having a bad match. The only time WWE gave Colt a halfway reasonable amount of time on television was his debut against Brian Kendrick, in which I think he looked pretty good by the way (especially with only being allotted like 3 minutes).
