  1. I think I was the low vote on Kudo. I actually never got round to really exploring her, but liked her a lot when she showed up incidentally in my viewing, and decided that was enough to get her on the bottom of my list. Sometimes you just have a feeling, and have to go with it.
  2. I'm jealous of the Clive Myers avatar.
  3. Looks like about 14 guys have dropped off my ballot now, mostly from the bottom 25 or so. Buddy Landell is my highest-ranked guy to go. I had him at 58, which was much higher than I anticipated him being.
  4. I think there's a perception that Tenta and Gang are fat guys of the slob variety, whereas Yoko has always been hailed as an 'athletic' big man. Yoko is the big man for the workrate fan. Not surprised at all he outranked them.
  5. I voted for Hoshino. I still probably suck though. I love the defenses for Quack and the Warrior, and I'm glad that we have a few 'oddball' ballots like that. It makes for a more fun countdown at any rate. Bubba Ray really sucks. I mean, he can be good, but he comes off as so phony most of the time to me. He's a guy who probably is tough as shit, playing a character who is tough as shit in a way that is totally unconvincing to me. I think I had Brad Armstrong and possibly Perrito towards the bottom of my list. I made last minute changes to my bottom end as I was submitting it, and didn't make a note of what I changed.
  6. Anyone not willing to do this should have their ballot stricken from the record. Join in you miserable fuckers. One of us, one of us!
  7. Heenan is beloved. And talented. I voted for Brazo de Oro and Alan Sarjeant down the bottom somewhere. I originally said I couldn't vote for Sarjeant as not enough footage was available, but I made a liar out of myself. At the end of the day, i felt like what was out there made a fairly convincing case that he is at that level, and I find it hard to believe that these performances somehow painted an inaccurate picture.
  8. I'm surprised Warrior got on 10 ballots. I thought we were a more discerning bunch.
  9. I can kinda see ranking Kendrick that high. I mean, if you think turn of the century super indie stuff is the best wrestling ever, then I guess it kinda makes sense. It's a belief system, just not one I agree with.
  10. Yay, I have a high vote on someone. And it's me and Dean, so I'm super happy with that. Angel Azteca avatar coming shortly!
  11. I would have liked to have found a spot for Ciclon Ramirez just on the strength of his tope alone. It's a thing of giddy beauty, and anyone who can produce such a thing deserves serious consideration.
  12. I would think Joey would get some good will from being in the 'Legend of Chavo Guerrero' video. Actually, I saw him wrestle a couple of months ago against some local guy, and I thought it was the best match on the show, and I mean that as a compliment. They brawled into the crowd on top of doing the more standard indie-style stuff, and it was quite convincing. I can't stand his comedy stuff though. There was a video I saw of him not long ago where he gets out a bag of Gummi Bears as though it were a bad of thumb tacks, and the commentators and wrestlers are acting like it's some heinous act. That whole scene is just terrible to me. While rules are made to be broken in other forms of art, wrestling just wasn't meant to work on that level, in my opinion. I'm loving this countdown already. I'm surprised Kuniaki Kobayashi dropped already, but I reckon he's the kind of guy who would do a lot better if people were submitting a top 150/200. Just not spectacular enough, I guess, to force his way into a top 100. I honestly can't remember if he made it onto my list or not. He and Fulton were both in my last 108, and while I know Fulton didn't make it into the 100, Kobayashi, who I cut initially, may have been a last minute add-on for me.
  13. See, I thought Slam Master J was exactly the kind of bullshit that could have got pretty over if they'd have done something with it. He was good in that role. I always liked Ray Gordy.
  14. The main guys who I think would have made my list had I been able to invest the time in them are Hashimoto, Breaks, Tenryu, Han and Akiyama. There are a bunch of guys who might have done better had I seen more. Probably the biggest name I didn't rank just because I don't think he's good enough is John Cena.
  15. I liked Sting, Hansen and, surprisingly, Snoop's speeches. Just wanted the Freebirds to end. Made me cringe. Romanticism about guys pissing on each other and destroying things just isn't for me I guess. Are we going to have to hear every year about what a great and inspiring guy homophobic nutjob the Ultimate Warrior was? I find the whole 'Warrior Award' thing about the most unsettling thing they do.
  16. I think someone said they have Hokuto number 1, so it's moot.
  17. Any kind of Wrecking Crew or Riot Squad is good.
  18. Mine is in. I think it's a pretty good mix of wrestlers whose names begin with A, B, C or D.
  19. A leather/denim combo jacket is a must.
  20. I'm glad Dylan has spoken up about Devil, as I thoroughly enjoyed taking a look at her, and at points thought she may end up as my highest rated female. Wasn't sure what the consensus was about her, so glad to see that others are fans of hers.
  21. I always say Earl Strickland is the best sports heel, but no-one seems to know who he is.
  22. I flirted with the idea of nominating Primo Colon, but in the end decided against it when I realised he realistically wouldn't make my list. There's an alternate reality where he's considered a lock for something like this though.
  23. Definitely Shawn Michaels. Not only do I just find him a detestable figure to the point that I can't enjoy even the good stuff he has been involved with (Rockers, for example), but I feel like if you take Shawn out of wrestling history, Triple H doesn't become as prominent as he became. So, it's like a two-fer.
  24. Y2Jiz?
  25. The process doesn't end for me. I'll keep working my way down the list of nominees. Right now I'm still on 'D', so I have a long way to go, and a lot more wrestling to watch before I feel I can say with confidence 'these are the 100 greatest wrestlers ever'. Of course, I'll slow down a bit, and will probably make room for other watching. But I'm not burnt out on this project or close to it.
