Dude, he bought an island because he thought there was buried treasure on it. Of course he's the guy trying to hunt the World's Most Dangerous Game. I will pay mortgage money if Inoki is the heel in Uncharted 4.

First Yatsu, now Ozaki. Is this what would happen if we lowered the voting age to 6?

Thought there was a chance I'd be the high man on Okada, but glad to see some others are more irrational than I am. Already regretting how low I put Tanahashi.

The NBA Playoffs are pro wrestling

I have no shame. Complete and unabashed Kobe mark even though I'm not a Laker fan. 2nd best player post-Jordan and will always love him. Bonus points for having no shame in how he goes about his business on the court compared with others who'll pretend they don't want to play the exact same way and don't have a fraction of the success. -
Here's hoping Japan declares war on behalf of Yoshiaki Yatsu.

This is a huge problem in wrestling overall And everywhere else.

Scott Steiner, Sting, Scott Hall and Triple H are all going to finish above Yatsu. Haha kill me now . I voted for 2 of those scrubs near the bottom of my list for no good reason. Should've just submitted 50 names. No one part of the gauntlet, the AJ classic tags and countless other tags should be this low.

Jesus Christ. Yatsu already??? Apparently I dramatically overrated his support. Bossman's pic is what he did after hearing he came in after Yatsu.

Fully in camp Steph here.
-
Very much agree. He can come through at times, but he looks to me like Triple H without the hate and with fewer great matches.

Man Samurai got whacked. Disappointing! Woof -- many thanks.

Crossed the halfway point here. I've run a few marathons, more than few halfs and this still felt grueling. I hope someone was feeding you gents Gatorade and goos along the way. Not that its any surprise, but it really stands out how much thought went into both of your lists. A few names I might need to request some recs for as I haven't really seen much, if any, of them. But will check out their GWE threads first to see if anything doing there. Loss, curious what placed Tully so much higher than Arn on your ballot. From podcasts and the board my read is that most have had Arn higher so wanted to see what stood out for Tully in your eyes. Pre-Horsemen? Higher end singles?

For some reason I expected DDP to place a lot higher. Felt like someone who'd see zero love, but a whole lot of like.

I have no qualms spending money for big screen wrestling. Especially DVDs. Small screen? Needs to be very compelling.

Pictures are great. Just looking for another list to reference that doesn't require so much clicking and scrolling.

[1984-10-22-UWF] Yoshiaki Fujiwara vs Nobuhiko Takada
WingedEagle replied to Superstar Sleeze's topic in October 1984
You may finally get me to check out a lot of this stuff. Been sitting there forever on the to-do list. Most of my shoot-style exposure has been through the yearbooks. I generally like it, almost always find it interesting and yet never or rarely love it. Hoping to turn that corner at some point, though I fully recognize I haven't yet gotten to prime Tamura/Kohsaka/Yamamoto. -
Can we get a text list of the rankings in one post? Would be great to have as an easy reference.

Wrestlers who had a lot of great matches but aren't great
WingedEagle replied to Grimmas's topic in 2016
I think is almost unquestionably true. I don't see what's wrong with folks acknowledging how much the environment and presentation may play into their rankings. Booking is a factor in opportunity and presentation that impacts the material we all had to work with. Bret Hart Top 10 All Time is still lunacy in my eyes, but it would make all the sense in the world and be completely unobjectionable by tipping the hat to what's driving it. -

Great post. We've all got biases. No shame in owning up to it. -

Because decent is decent and great is great. Its such a leap from one to the other that I haven't yet been able to reconcile. -

Don't most wrestlers do something approximating it on most shows? -
Finally finished this yesterday morning but forgot to come back and say how enjoyable this was. Thought you guys found a great sweet spot between discussing why you like the wrestlers you ranked *and* the matches that stood out in that context as well as on their own. It was also great to hear your fawning and raving escalate as you moved up the list as it really came across how much stronger you both felt about the names higher on the It also didn't hurt that I think my top 10 has 6 or 7 names in common with Sleeze's, including 3-4 at the exact same spot. You know your rasslin! Kelly's list? There was some very strong yay/boo action going on with alternating picks, but hey, the man knows what he likes and has/hasn't seen. Can't complain about consistency. Loved hearing how you came to NY for the ROH show just to see Liger. I also went to that show for the exact same reason, though I only had to hop on the subway for a minute rather than head out of town. But no chance was I missing Jushin Liger in person.

WingedEagle replied to Grimmas's topic in 2016
Happily put Taue in my top 10. Not as athletic or dynamic as his peers, or many workers, but he had incredible timing, facials and mannerisms that saw him come across as more of a heel than most in a country where babyfaces and heels generally worked the same rather than see any kind of traditional dichotomy. Never sold like Misawa or Kobashi, but who did? He was expressive in his own right and essentially carried himself at all times with two middle fingers raised at his opponents and anyone who'd look at him awkardly. Best tag team of all time? Check. Great cut-offs, double teams and finishers? Check. Capable of working on top or underneath in tag and multi-man matches? Check. Great singles matches against every big star to come through during the AJ glory days and a few from the next generation? Check, again. Underappreciated, but when you play with 3 Jordans someone can still be Scottie Pippen. -

Doesn't matter, all votes are equal and none are questionable. -
[1987-03-14-WWC] Carlos Colon vs Stan Hansen (No DQ, Cage)
WingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in March 1987
Awesome to see the cage match get the love. I thought this was far & away the best in the series and loved the entire look of the show as well. I also had no problem with the finish but can definitely understand why it might not fit for all. Curious where you go next on PR, as from the little I've seen its very hit and miss, but at least always different given what I'm used to. Definitely some craziness there though.
