  1. Its a very short match, but I think his Clash performance against Rude in November '91 is one of his best. Absolutely dynamite selling the knee injury the whole way. You throw in (1) those type of selling performances here, (2) the Flair matches (Clash 1 likely overrated but subsequent matches I thought don't get enough love), (3) the Vader series, (4) Cactus, a (5) couple of terrific runs in War Games in '91 and '92 (6) along with slew of fun TV sprints that may not be classics but never overstayed their welcome, (7) an infrequent great big match and I see a case for a bottom of the ballot career if you dug him.
  2. A lot. Don't like this. You had to go to the board to know how to vote. You had to listen to podcasts or go to the board to know about the project. You had to spend time putting together a list of 100 great wrestlers. I don't think any of this leads to someone waltzing in and going 1) HBK 2) Angle 3)... hmm.. Rock and so on. If you found out about this project and went through the voting process (let's face it, it's not a few minutes job to fill out that form) then your vote is worthwhile. Just because people have gaps you don't have, doesn't mean they have sunk this project or anything. This list will probably reflect hardcore fandom really well and if only 4-10 luchadores make the top 100, that is fine. You could be 100% right. Or wrong. Any opinions on it are valid.
  3. Fujinami & Rick Martel were the two names who benefited most from GWE watching. '80s New Japan was a blind spot for me and coming out of it, hell, even midway through, it was clear he was as good as anything in Baba-land and had he been working in that style rather than Inoki's nonsense (which he overcame better than anyone) would've placed even higher. Just a joy to watch every time out.
  4. Absolutely. As absurd as the collective ballot may be, my list is the only one I'll look at more than a second as representative, and I already can't certain parts of it
  5. A few runs on national TV for both major promotions?
  6. Angle/Sting/Jeff Hardy & the like shouldn't be such huge surprises at this point. It feels like a very modern / Monday Night Wars type of list -- skewing more heavily towards that universe than would perhaps have otherwise been expected.
  7. Seriously want Oz to stomp on the hands of everyone voter that shunned her.
  8. Dude, he bought an island because he thought there was buried treasure on it. Of course he's the guy trying to hunt the World's Most Dangerous Game. I will pay mortgage money if Inoki is the heel in Uncharted 4.
  9. First Yatsu, now Ozaki. Is this what would happen if we lowered the voting age to 6?
  10. Thought there was a chance I'd be the high man on Okada, but glad to see some others are more irrational than I am. Already regretting how low I put Tanahashi.
  11. I have no shame. Complete and unabashed Kobe mark even though I'm not a Laker fan. 2nd best player post-Jordan and will always love him. Bonus points for having no shame in how he goes about his business on the court compared with others who'll pretend they don't want to play the exact same way and don't have a fraction of the success.
  12. Here's hoping Japan declares war on behalf of Yoshiaki Yatsu.
  13. This is a huge problem in wrestling overall And everywhere else.
  14. Scott Steiner, Sting, Scott Hall and Triple H are all going to finish above Yatsu. Haha kill me now . I voted for 2 of those scrubs near the bottom of my list for no good reason. Should've just submitted 50 names. No one part of the gauntlet, the AJ classic tags and countless other tags should be this low.
  15. Jesus Christ. Yatsu already??? Apparently I dramatically overrated his support. Bossman's pic is what he did after hearing he came in after Yatsu.
  16. Fully in camp Steph here.
  17. Very much agree. He can come through at times, but he looks to me like Triple H without the hate and with fewer great matches.
  18. Man Samurai got whacked. Disappointing! Woof -- many thanks.
  19. Crossed the halfway point here. I've run a few marathons, more than few halfs and this still felt grueling. I hope someone was feeding you gents Gatorade and goos along the way. Not that its any surprise, but it really stands out how much thought went into both of your lists. A few names I might need to request some recs for as I haven't really seen much, if any, of them. But will check out their GWE threads first to see if anything doing there. Loss, curious what placed Tully so much higher than Arn on your ballot. From podcasts and the board my read is that most have had Arn higher so wanted to see what stood out for Tully in your eyes. Pre-Horsemen? Higher end singles?
  20. For some reason I expected DDP to place a lot higher. Felt like someone who'd see zero love, but a whole lot of like.
  21. I have no qualms spending money for big screen wrestling. Especially DVDs. Small screen? Needs to be very compelling.
  22. Pictures are great. Just looking for another list to reference that doesn't require so much clicking and scrolling.
  23. You may finally get me to check out a lot of this stuff. Been sitting there forever on the to-do list. Most of my shoot-style exposure has been through the yearbooks. I generally like it, almost always find it interesting and yet never or rarely love it. Hoping to turn that corner at some point, though I fully recognize I haven't yet gotten to prime Tamura/Kohsaka/Yamamoto.
  24. Can we get a text list of the rankings in one post? Would be great to have as an easy reference.
