  1. I went to download the WWE app on the PS3 tonight but didn't see it available. Can't even download it until Monday?
  2. So that's Juan de La Barrera bull ring. Pretty cool outdoor arena. I liked this better than the match the week before, but not dramatically so. Tecnicos take a quick first fall when Rey scores two fast pins. This fall saw a decent plancha from Heavy Metal but not much else. Psicosis is already such a great bumper at this stage and makes Misterio look like a superhero, flying everywhere in and around the ring for him. Misterio then sells, eating a 3 on 1 attack for a good stretch. After Metal's nice pinfall in the 2nd, we get another impressive dive train in the 3rd before Metal also closes that out, looking like a big deal in the process. ***1/2
  3. Without going back and double checking everything I watched from '92, I'm pretty comfortable saying this is my favorite Takada match thus far. Excellent, fast grappling to start with Takada doing a textbook job of making a lesser opponent look big against a star. Takada wrenches in a leglock and Tamura does a fantastic job selling it and struggling for the rope beak. Tamura forced to break the ropes again on a Kimura. A really great sequence with Takada working for armbar, which Tamura tries to reverse but Takada cinches it in and forces another break. He then gets a knockdown on a kick to the midsection. Takada closes it with a series of big kicks including one to the dome for the KO. Really couldn't ask for more here -- Tamura looked like a legit threat on the rise against the company's ace, while not quite able to put it together and pull off the upset. ****
  4. Vader KO Thames immediately with a brutal elbow that he sells so well you might wonder if it was legit. Samoan drop, Vader bomb, power bomb and its over. Race puts facepaint on him like Sting, then Vader whips the hell out of him. Pretty entertaining squash and would be a great part of building to the Superbrawl main event if only they left out the mini movie nonsense.
  5. Armstrong wins with flying clothesline to Starr. Nothing offensive but pretty pointless. **
  6. Joey Maggs with some redneck hate. Armstrong out to confront him. On to the next one.
  7. What he said. We get a fiery promo from Morton about how far back the feud with Cornette & the Midnights goes. They then brawl with all 3 Bodies and get laid out, which brings out the Studds with chairs and the Bodies take some sick shots before clearing and allowing the Studds to turn their attention to the RNR and lay them out as well. We should all do Fuller curls for angles like this.
  8. Dutch shows the clip of Bodies & RNR at WCWSN with the finish of the match and Eaton interfering. Then Dutch interviews the Studd Stable, who are great and want a title match. Its a shame Fuller left for WCW as the Studds were my favorite gimmick in SMW.
  9. Pretty solid promo from Doug Gilbert before Eddie makes his way out to confront him. Doug jumps him and Eddie Marlin announces Doug vs. Eddie at the MSC. Fun stuff and Doug certainly held his own on the mic here.
  10. Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, dancing & rapping to Jump Around. Phenomenal. Highlight of Memphis this year.
  11. Christopher is bringing Luger into town, and we get a solid Lawler promo talking about Christopher challenging for Memphis title.
  12. That's a great radio voice?
  13. Ha sounds good, maybe I'll come across the Torch pieces at some point.
  14. John, did you write up some of the shows you saw over there in greater detail? Haven't seen too much on those from from this side of the ocean and would imagine it'd be interesting, or at worst just make me jealous.
  15. Until there's someone else with a similarly sized checkbook and a desire to use it, none of this really matters.
  16. Yeah, its been on a rocket for the last 5-6 months and up something over 150% in the last year. At least I didn't miss out on the entire run. Question is how long this love lasts if the network doesn't put up boffo numbers to start. I think the "free" trial week will be key to that as it'll force people to actively cancel their accounts, but still allow the company to deliver a healthy number of subs. Pull that off and they can likely ride quite a bit of momentum for another quarter or 2. If not, we'll see how convincingly they can sell the growth story without early support.
  17. No doubt about it. The guy is laid back, fun and as GH noted, can offer up interesting insights on TNA and Mexico while also keeping up with WWE for the most part. He's also great about not hogging the mic.

You only get one return from an absence.
  19. Whatever the reality is, it looks like they're doing a pretty good job spinning the TV bidding and potential upside of the network. Stock was up 7.5% today.
  20. Corny's tough for me to tolerate on his own, but you pair him with Alice and its beyond unbearable. I think Konnan, Court & MSL have a good thing going on the weekly show and also enjoy the Bauer & Pollack pod a ton. Just breezes by and always interesting and entertaining. She on the other hand brings nothing to the table.
  21. That you can't imagine other people seeing and enjoying things differently than yourself isn't something sad about me, but sad about you. Unless you are a cyborg or something, I call BS on feeling emotion while not suspending disbelief. What's your point? I buy into the story of a movie or a wrestling match without believing its real. I can get fully invested in things varying from The Devil Wears Prada to The Wire to True Detective to Hokuto vs. Kandori to Cena vs. Cesaro without for a split second believing any of it is real. Its not only BS, but some high on a kite, elitist BS to tell me I can't enjoy it unless I convince myself that fiction is in fact non-fiction.
  22. The heels dominate the first fall working over Eddy pretty well before triple pinning Santo. Casas doing yeoman's work as a heel there, adding in little touches like blocking the ref from seeing Santo tag Konnan and then taunting him after the fact. Konnan was over like a boss here. Just an absolute star to these fans. Loved Santo's plancha in the third. Caras low blows Konnan for a DQ in the 3rd fall to further their feud. I remember heading how heated this was at the time but it hasn't felt that way going back through the matches yet. Just not as hateful and urgent as you'd want about of a blood feud. **3/4
  23. Will the necessary PS3 updates be available for download before Monday or will I have to do that in the background while watching Raw that night?
  24. Man Rey is so skinny here. Fun stuff from the heels getting in each other's faces early when things don't go their way. Business in the first fall really picks up with the dive train, especially an awesome one by Psicosis. The faces seem to win the first fall by countout but as noted by others its not entirely clear. The rudos dominate the 2nd fall in typical fashion, then the 3rd fall hits and that's a bit more disjointed. Yet another great dive train with everyone missing their spots but remaining well protected throughout. I couldn't explain to you how the 3rd fall was decided, but between the flying in the opening and closing falls and the heel dominance in the second, I was not disappointed. But I am still waiting for the AAA triot match from this era to absolutely blow me away. Hasn't happened yet. ***1/4
